The series wasn't actually as bad as people said.
I enjoyed it, and I hope they return.

Sammy looks like a dirty old fat man. I refuse to believe he's 30 ANYTHING. Lies.

MJ's ex was kinda cute, but I totally dig where she's coming from on not going back to the past with someone you no longer have a desire for. Sammy was wrong for that. Douche.

I love Reza. Sigh. LOL!

MJ's mom seems sort of bitter towards her daughter. It's like she resents MJ for not being pretty or thin enough to her liking. I would hate to have shrew for my mother. Reza said she's always been miserable. It's not like MJ can cut her off. She knows that she still depends on her mother or father for money to survive.

Yes, I know she has a 'business', but just how well is it real estate really doing in LA?

GG's date was a complete fake. The entire thing looked utterly scripted. I'm sure she knows him already.

Reza- who tells a friend their mother doesn't love them? If MJ wants to talk let her, but she looked hurt when he said that.

Sammy is gross beyond belief. Inviting her ex was bad enough. Allowing him to maul her like that was unacceptable. Even your date was upset. Sammy is pushing 40 at least. He is a dirty old man.

MJ- you gotta fire whoever let you out of the house in that outfit. Kill the person who sold you thouse shorts. You nee a stylist who will dress you to enhance you, not highlight your worst features. I thought someone was going to try to pick her up as a hooker outside the hotel. She looked like a hooker.

Asa- nice little shack that mummy and daddy have. It's nice that mummy and daddy like to surpport the arts by keeping you in a little bohemian hideaway and a big white Mercedes.

Mike- you aren't all that you think you are. Maybe let your inner gay out.

I may be in the minority but Mike And GG do have chemistry. I think Mike would date her if she wasn't such a loose canon. They def. don't have "Friends" vibes. However, Mike is really full of himself.

Overall, a great episode.

Agree with the rest of you....and has Asa's back story been on the show? I've heard her mention being a "refugee" many times but her circumstances do not appear to be anything approaching refugee status. Yes, I know the word refugee can mean different things....but if her family left somewhere as political refugees, at least it appears they got their money out with them.

IIRC in episode one she spoke about living in a tiny rent controlled apartment with her family when they first moved to Beverly Hills. I read an article about her which noted her family first fled Iran to Germany for a while first but felt strong anti-immigrant sentiments there. They ended up in BH due to Iranian ties and her parents wanted her to go to Bev Hills HS at all costs. I assume her father/parents made their money from there.

Her father did say that Gigi spent over $14,000 in clothes shopping in 2 months.

Was it her father who was compensating for his balding head with a ponytail? Someone needs to tell him he looks lame. When GG and her sister presented their gift to him, the look on their father's face when he saw it, well you know he was mentally calculating how much HE likely 'contributed' to his own gift!

The only one whom I like is Reza, although sometimes it seems as though his schtick is forced.

I get that impression as well, but at least he has a talent for hosting and entertaining. Do we know what he does for a living?

No, you guys are right. It's the same Mohammed from RHOBH. From what I've read he's just as shady as Russell Armstrong, he just managed to keep his hands clean.

I never saw RHoBH, but that guy looked shady to me.

I love how Sammy hands MJ's gift to her and immediately brags about the cost being 15-20k and then they cut to him actually buying them and costing him $2800. What a douche.

Fer sure. He needs to quit wearing those douchy hats.

Asa is the stereotypical bohemian trust funder who is somewhat deluded in terms of her being *above* the materialistic consumption of others although it appears that she has no problem with the finer things of life. She can pursue *art* without commercial compromise because she doesn't really need the money.

I suspect that Reza's backstory is quite a bit more complicated than "evil grandmother persuades father to desert son". Not to defend the father or the grandmother, but it doesn't seem to add up in terms of that side of the family cutting Reza off. He seemed to know and have a fond relationship with his cousins and their children as well as his aunts and uncles and attended their ceremonial rites of passages. Was his father blaming the grandmother for his own spinelessness? For that matter, why wasn't she upset about his philandering?

I know Reza was just trying to be helpful but man, you don't tell your best friend that her mother doesn't love her. MJ looked like she was going to cry.

Sammy is a gross pig. I could not believe he told his blind date she needed to tone up a bit & there he is, a gross fat pig who wears bizarre outfits (wild socks & knit neck scarves on a date). It was totally WRONG of him to set MJ up on a date with an ex she couldn't stand. She needs to ream him a new asshole. I wonder if he realizes that he is the least popular on the show & the viewers can't stand him.

GG's date - you could see how uncomfortable she was trying to act cheerful.

I do think GG is cute but mouth is tiny.

I agree that Reza's backstory does not add up. I don't doubt that there are issues there, but I think that the fundamental problem was that his father was a philanderer and that maybe once his marriage broke up he disconnected from his family, BUT it also seems like Reza was an adult when his parents split, so if Reza wanted a relationship with his father then he (Reza) should have made that happen. Perhaps the grandmother is a bigot but it does not seem like Reza was ostracized from his father's family over it, he even commented about knowing more about the Jewish traditions and engaging in more Jewish activities than Muslim ones.

Again I believe that there are some real issues and pain but I also think that things were hyped up for the Bravo cameras and that the grandmother became more of a villain in the story because Reza's father was trying to deflect blame for his misdeeds and Reza fell for it. However I can't bring myself for being too mad at the father, even though IMO he is blame-shifting philanderer, because of how well he out-played the camera-whoring Reza.

I have to agree with MJ, the idea of a Persian mother who tells her daughter she SHOULDN'T get married is like a rainbow-colored unicorn flying over Manhattan.

Sammy is an utter pig. First for his ridiculous comments to his 'blind-date,' who was miles above him, at least outwardly (and thank you, good gf, for thinking about MJ and where she went off to. Even worse was his casual disregard of his 'good friend,' being mauled right next to him on a couch. I was even more disgusted by that than the gross 'not-so-blind' date he arranged for MJ.

Gah!

Other than that, I did enjoy Asa's 'coming out,' and on a purely visceral level, the food at Shiraz looked really, really yummy.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope there's a second season.

I think Mike would screw GG, for sure. But date? Nah, not really. And, even though I think he'd screw her, I think he won't go there because he's already dated her sister. I respect him for that--I can't stand people who bounce between family members, it's trifling and messy.

I definitely got the impression that MJ makes her own money via her real estate job.

Asa- nice little shack that mummy and daddy have.

Are you talking about the house where the art work was displayed and "Tehrangeles" premiered? If so, that was not her parents' house. It was the house of the woman who Reza brought the other bouquet of flowers for (I actually said aw when he did that - that's class for you).

I'm going to miss these characters. I definitely felt like the season got better as time went past. Even though MJ tried to have a discussion with Sammy prior to Mike's dinner and it didn't go her way, I still felt she should have really kicked him in the balls. I cannot believe he was so nasty to her and that's his "girl"! Hmph. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

I love Reza. I don't care if he's doing a bit of acting - it's great acting. He makes good TV!

Up until the final episode, I was willing to give Sammy a pass. I thought, well, he might be sloppy-looking with effeminate mannerisims, but he seems like a nice guy. Um, NO. He was not only cruel to "his girl" MJ by setting her up with someone she clearly doesn't like, but blew off her feelings and insulted her by saying no one wanted to go out with her. He was also very short with his date; a date I might add with someone WAY out of his league (at least physically.) Telling her she needed to tone up, and then aggressively telling her to "relax" when she expressed concern about MJ.

Speaking of MJ, she needs to cut her mom out. That woman was my mom. Very concerned with outward appearances, someone who you will never live up to their expectations. Who tells their daughter that they are not "marriage material?" Granted, marriage is not for everyone. Many people prefer to remain single by choice. But MJ's mom implies that no one would want to marry her daughter. That's beyond harsh.

Sammy telling her the next day that he set her up with that creep b/c no one would was a close second. I guess there's a reason douchbags wear those douchy hats -- as a means to ID them by sight.

Based on what Mike said on WWHL last night, he doesn't want to date her at all. He actually seemed pretty disgusted by the idea and said he thinks GG wants him because her sister dated him - kind of like a one-up deal.

How dare SAMMY of all people talk about anybody's shape or body??? She was a blind date and completely out of his league. I think he was trying to make her feel bad about herself, but ugly, fat men (no matter how rich) can NEVER make a decently attractive woman feel insecure, especially if she was set up on BLIND DATE!

Watching Sammy, with his flabby belly and stumpy legs tell his tall and beautiful blind date that she could stand to "tone up some" was one of the funniest moments I've seen on TV recently. And then it made me angy, because that's a typical dick move by an insecure creep - try to make the woman insecure so you can feel in control. Clearly his blind date wasn't falling for that crap, and that irritated him even more; hence his sneering and condescending to her when she asserted her concern for MJ and more or less demanded he look out for her.

He comes across as a true misogynist, and, to use a classic reference, a male chauvinist pig. He knows what's best for MJ, so he tricks her into meeting again with a man she has already rejected. He ignores her discomfort and pays no attention when she literally struggles away from the man and runs out of the restaurant. When she confronts him about it, he first pooh-poohs her objections and claims she was climbing all over the man and was clearly enjoying herself. When she says that's not what was happening, he accuses her of calling him a liar! As if he knows better than she does what she was feeling! And when she won't back down, he starts insulting her by telling her no one else was interested in her because she's out of control and a drunk.

Yeah, Sammy's a great friend to MJ. And him calling anyone else a liar is clearly a case of pot calling the kettle black. I wonder if she's had those $20,000 earrings he gave her appraised for insurance?

Word! I was so angry listening to his fat, disgusting sloppy self tell this pretty girl that she needed to "tone up" to be with him!!! You sweaty fat bastard! Those escorts you HIRE to go out with you are PAID to tell you how "handsome" you are. Regular women will be nice.

I remember a guy that I was seeing saying I was fat and it made me feel self conscious about myself. I had indeed put on weight, but I was too depressed to exercise or to do anything about it. It really affected me, because I didn't want to date anyone until I lost the weight.

Even if a friend was to set me up with a fat bastard like Sammy, I would never insult him and tell him how much weight he needed to lose or how he needed to "tone" up. I'm sure he KNOWS he's fat, especially in LA. His mirror and camera isn't lying to him. It's hurtful.

I thought it was the girl from the pool party. The one who told Sammy that her ex was twice his size.

I know Quincy Jones has a million kids, but I didn't know he had grandkids who look old enough to be grandparents. I wonder if Rashida's previous and upcoming WWHL appearances were a connection to get him on the show. Mike seems like the quintessential
club owner/party promoter douchebag. Not having to stand in line at the club is only an accomplishment to 19 year olds and douchebags. His huge head sits directly on top of his shoulders. That must've been the reason why he lacks a neck. The huge head crushed it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this (unless I didn't scroll back far enough), but did anyone else get a lesbo vibe from that journalist who threw the party to showcase Asa's work? It seemed like there were strings attached to the whole thing and Asa wasn't astute enough to pick up on it. Maybe my mind is just in the gutter from watching too much reality tv, but something was off....

Regarding MJ's mother, I can see both sides of the coin. On the one hand she is a downer, but on the other she probably just wants to see her daughter clean herself up and live a straight life. I like MJ, but she reminds me of a friend I used to have that would party seven nights a week and drag herself to the office with unbrushed hair, the previous night's makeup and a hangover from hell. As rude as her mother is, she's right, no decent man is going to marry a girl like MJ.

Sammy is disgusting. Hana was probably the first date he's had in a year that didn't come from an escort service.

Damn you BRAVO for getting me hooked on this show when I swore up and down I wouldn't watch it!
