So, The Finder; spin-off of Bones. The backdoor pilot was in Bones' 6th season, discussion of that in the Bones thread starts here.

From the creator of the hit series BONES comes THE FINDER, a quirky, one-hour procedural centering on a remarkable man with an eccentric personality and a unique gift to help others recover what they've lost.

Iraq war veteran WALTER SHERMAN (Geoff Stults) gained a reputation in his army days as being the go-to guy for tracking down insurgents and deserters and finding improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Unfortunately one IED found Walter before he could find it, resulting in severe brain damage with a lasting and unexpected effect. Walter transformed from someone skilled at the standard recovery of people and things in wartime scenarios to someone - something - much more extraordinary: a Finder. Walter left the military, but his reputation as a discreet professional able to unearth anything and anyone passed on to generals, politicians and other powerful figures. His first post-military assignment was to find the CIA head honcho's missing daughter and bring her home. He accomplished that mission successfully, and since then has never been without an assignment.

Now, Walter uses his odd "Finder Power" to locate almost anything for just about anyone. Once he's on a case, there's no turning back until he's found exactly what he's looking for - whether that's a dead body, a guitar pick or a pair of lucky socks. Walter's brother-in-arms LEO KNOX (Michael Clarke Duncan), once an obese lawyer who, after the deaths of his wife and children, completely reinvented himself into a gentle giant, is a philosopher as well as Walter's legal advisor. Leo owns The Ends of the Earth bar in Key West, FL, which also serves as a makeshift office and home base for Walter. Leo keeps a close eye on unruly teenager WILLA MONDAY (Maddie Hasson). Raised to be a criminal by her extended family of gypsies but now on probation and under Leo's protection, Willa works at The Ends of the Earth Bar where Leo and Walter on occasion use her hard-gained skills in their own work.

Walter has an on-again off-again relationship with DEPUTY U.S. MARSHAL ISABEL ZAMBADA (Mercedes Masöhn), a beautiful and focused cop-on-the-rise who is using her career in law enforcement to climb to the top of the heap in life. However much Isabel likes Walter and utilizes him to further her own career, she knows that he may be an impediment to her rise through the ranks. For Walter and Isabel, it's a constant balancing act between career ambitions and matters of the heart.

Because of his rare skills, Walter is often asked to find a person or a thing that law enforcement either will not or cannot find. Walter's occasional social ineptitude, general paranoia and case-related tunnel vision make him somewhat difficult to work with, but thanks to the help and guidance of Leo, as well as a patchwork of indebted connections, he ultimately finds meaning in his own life by finding someone or something other people have lost.

THE FINDER is a production of 20th Century Fox Television. Hart Hanson, Barry Josephson, Dan Sackheim and Vahan Moosekian are executive producers. The series is created by Hanson. Dan Sackheim directed the pilot.

I'm so glad they got rid of the second most annoying thing about the pilot (the first being the lead).

Premieres January 12th.

Just read per Fox's press release for their mid-season schedule that the back-door Bones pilot will re-air at 8:00 p.m. ET, right before the series premiere.

Fox changed their minds; a new episode of Bones will air before the premiere.

FOX will also air an encore of THE FINDER spin-off episode of BONES on Thursday, Dec. 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

I watched it. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't great. The only thing that really irritated me was the poor little criminal girl (she reminded me of Jordan Hinson from Eureka-only not as charming). Waste of Jaime Murray's talent as a one off criminal. Like MCD's character, kinda liked the lead, meh on the cop lady. I'll watch a few more episodes at the very least.

Overall, I liked the military kid guest star more than the criminal girl, especially since her story arc seems fairly predictable. I liked the finder guy himself, though he process seemed more like something Shawn Spencer would use than anything else and I really liked Michael Clarke Duncan. The marshal girl was okay too. I'll probably tune back in next Thursday for another look.

I found something about the lead character 'off'. He bothered me, but I can't put my finger on why.

The Willa character seems unnecessary.

I don't think I'll be tuning in again to watch it.

Really boring to me. I kept wanting to just fast forward to the end. Not because I cared what happened. Just so it'd be over.

Not bad. It skirted the edges of trying too hard, but managed to avoid going over for the most part. The lead reminds me of a watered-down House, not in a bad way, I just mean he expresses more sentiment than House generally does. I really like MCD. He smiled and I couldn't stop myself from smiling with him. I even like the cop lady. Willa was fine, for the most part, but I liked future cadet way more. He was earnest and cute, and the actor gave a better performance. I can see the Willa character growing on me, though.

I do hope Jaime Murray comes back. Her character was undeniably sexy, evil, but sexy, and interesting. If not, she was wasted big time.

I'm definitely going to tune in again.

I don't remember Willa being in the back-door pilot, I don't like her, and feel the show would be better without her.

I liked Saffron Burrows, and wish she would have stayed, but the U.S. Marshal isn't bad.

All in all, I liked it. It was quirky, but then it's meant to be, so I found it appealing. I'm definitely going to give it a few more episodes to see if it finds it's feet, anyway.

The episode got better as it went on. The first 10-15 min were pretty boring, but it picked up. I'll probably give it a few more (if the network does). The lead actor is still not-great but he improved over last year's show.

Wow, no love for last night's episode? For me, it was the one that officially got this show a season pass on my DVR. I thought the whole thing was wonderful, and even Willa got some love from me last night, and she's the character I like least.

Sweets showing up in this episode was also awesome. The premise of his being there was silly, granted, but it was fun having him tag along. When Walter grabbed Sweets' ID and bit into it, Sweets' reply of "Really? You do that?" was just so perfectly deadpan.

And the psuedo Crockett and Tubbs were a hoot. I know Mario Van Peebles was "Tubbs", but does anyone know who the other actor was? IMDB is a tad behind. He looked familiar, but I can't put a name to the face.

I'm with you, Scarletine - after last night's episode, I think I'll keep up with this show, at least for awhile. I thought maybe Crockett was the guy from My Two Dads (the dad that wasn't Paul Reiser), but I couldn't confirm it.

Not great but not bad. The article about getting rid of Saffron Burrows said her character was "controversial". Why? I rather liked her although they could have toned down the accent a bit.

A nitpick about Willa. If they're going to have her be a Gypsy (and btw, no Gypsy would call themselves that, at least not when speaking to another Roma, which she did, couldn't they have picked an actress who looks like a Roma? Or they could have made her an Irish Traveler whose lifestyle is similar enough to fulfill the same function. Okay, nitpick over.

Really liked it. Wish the Air Force kid was a regular character, as I really liked him.

I had no idea this is a spin-off of Bones. Tone seems completely different.

Then again, I haven't watched it since they totally ruined my favorite character with the Gormagon mess.

Was your favorite character Zach? Mine was, and that is why I stopped watching the show.

I agree with everyone who said they liked the second episode better. I actually like all the characters so far. There is always time to ruin them, but I look forward to seeing what is coming.

It's not really a spin-off, it was merely launched as a backdoor pilot from a Bones episode.

Wait a minute - FinderGuy is hypnotized, he's still following Sweets' orders, and Sweets tells him to "forget the combination" to the vault?

Okay, if that turns out to be a plotline - Finder can't remember it, and has to "find" the combination - well, sorta dumb but okay. It's not like Bones doesn't mock Sweets when he doesn't deserve it (and then tell us he's a genius).

But if they completely ignore that little statement, that's really gonna bug me.

I could so totally get behind this. Sweets is lost on Bones, but on this show, he'd be a great addition to the cast. (As long as Daisy doesn't come with him!)

Of course, ever since I found out John Francis Daley was one of the writers of "Horrible Bosses", I've had a mad crush on the guy that knows no bounds.

Oh, and I can't believe I forgot this...but Mitch Pileggi in last night's episode? Le rawr...that man STILL is teh hotness.

Ok I finally got around to giving this show a shot and....well ok. It kinda reminded me of what I originally liked about Bones way back when Bones was not horrible. The Finder is not great television and in a weird time slot (there is already like 5 things I want to watch) so I'll have to watch it OnDemand during the weekends when I remember to, but its not as awful as I thought it would be.

Is that a good review? Not sure.

I liked the pilot way back when, I didn't realize the season started, so I missed the 1st episode. I have set it for my DVR, the main reason is very shallow - I think the "Finder" is good looking. I find his looks way more pleasing than David Boreanaz, whom I thought was gorgeous way back when.

I have already set my DVR, I have several things to record/watch, so some of them will end up being my weekend TV.

You know, I really am enjoying this show. It's just this side of quirky. Walter is hot and unabashedly loony. MDC has a contagious smile and a beautiful touch with Walter and Willa both. Even the marshall is likeable.

But what I really enjoy about this show are the guest stars. They are batting a thousand in that area.

The opening interview with the client was a total winner for me.

I owe it to the world to pass on my intelligence.

This is a fun, fun show. Liking it a lot. Hope it sticks around for a while.
