Amen to that. Kelly, in particular, just always seems so angry. I don't like her because she's tiresome, like she's got some real "issues" in having relationships. Now I might be way off base, but I just wish she'd knock off the "angry/I don't need him/I can stand on my own two feet/I've been done wrong" schtick--and just sing something pleasant for a change.
Urgh yes. Honestly the only songs I like of hers is when she does covers of other artists just cause her voice is pleasant when she sings mellow songs. I hate screaming singers. As for Taylor, I hate her at the same time slightly like her. She's a not so good singer/songwriter and has to stop with the shitty 'surprise' face every darn time she wins. But at the end of the day she's just doing her own thing rather than being a package put together by the studio (well the latter case defines pretty much the entire industry). And well she's not going around speaking about her right to assert her sexuality, flashing her body parts etc. But she should stop with the 'dejected girl' songs. And cut a pay check to Kanye for every album released. Why is it most of the female artists sing bad breakup songs while the men have pleasant things to sing about?
The way I see it the grammy's are a glorified concert, and this year was no exception. The winning categories mean nothing at all and everyone just shows up for the performances. And a standing ovation here means nothing. Adele sure does have a great voice, but the main reason her music sells is all because of the song arrangement. Sad as it is to say, she wouldn't have won most of the grammy's if her records didn't sell as much. The grammy's are less about music quality, and more about the popularity of an artist. Hard fact.
I prefer "angry girl" songs to the other types of songs women in mainstream music are "allowed" to sing, you know ones where they basically objectify themselves for men.
I admit those songs are my guilty pleasure and are my go-to gym songs :D But I have no use for angry songs, and these are celebrated female artists. I'd rather hear better quality songs from them.
