The nomination special/concert was last night. Here the nominees. My thoughts:

1. Very very pressed Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy didn't get album of the year. At least he got Rap Album, but I have a feeling his double noms will split the vote.

2. Very very pressed Beyonce got nearly shut out despite 4 being her best album.

3. Very very pressed Rihanna got Album of the Year for Loud. I want her to go away and if any Rihanna album should've gotten a nod, it was Rated R.

4. Why is Katy Perry still a thing?

5. Very surprised Taylor Swift only got 3 noms, I guess the love affair with her by the industry is over.

6. Adele of course, crushes everyone and will probably walk away with the big trophies.

7. I'm split on Bruno Mars. He's talented, but...I don't know. I didn't really like his album but I guess it's cool they picked someone talented.

8. Lady Gaga for album of the year surprised me since the Born This Way era has been kinda of decisive.

9. Yay Nicki Minaj!!!!!

10. Yay Chris Brown for his nominations. I think F.A.M.E. is the only "contempary" one in Best R&B album and he stands a good chance of winning.

Gaga's performance was awesome - inspired and not "shocking", just a woman singing her heart out with great dancers backing her.

That performance contrasted well with Rihanna's. I love Ri's song "We Found Love", but Rihanna is so freaking obvious about the fact she's lip synching. She seems like a cool girl but her big talent is being cool - not being a good singer or writer since she doesn't even write her own music.

I will say this, I have seen Rihanna live, and the girl can entertain. She put on a great concert.

When Gaga does not put on any theatrics and just sings, that is when I like her.

And, I will be shocked if Adele does not win Record, Song, and Album of the Year. I wonder if they will have her perform at the Grammy's or will she continue to rest her throat (which is probably best for her) after her surgery.

I am not in love with her singing. Girl sounds like she just finished a big ol' plate of mashed potatoes.

I hope the love affair with Tony Bennett is over since he didn't get nominated.

I'm not a huge Adele fan, but she will win a boatload of Grammys. They love giving Grammys to female artists, who are then never achieve the same kind of success again--Lauryn Hill, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse. Just sayin.'

Except Adele's already seen Grammy glory. "21" really just picked up where she left off with "19" and blew her into the stratosphere but the only category she's nominated in for "21" that she wasn't nominated for with "19", is Album of the Year.

She was nominated for ROTY, SOTY and Pop Female for Chasing Pavements (and won Best Pop) and nominated for Best New Artist, which she won. Also breaking another "curse" that BNA winners are never heard of again.

She may not match the success of "21" with her next album but I won't be the least bit surprised to see her match the success of "19" where she had critical praise and a very respectable 1.2 million sales in the U.S.

And speaking of the nominations, I cannot even begin to wrap my head around the sheer WTF-ery of Kanye's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" not getting an AOTY nomination, made even worse by the fact that he leads in nominations. Kanye may be a douche and yes he acts ignorant at award shows but the man deserves to be pissed off for this one.

I just cannot rationalize how an album that has a metacritic score of 94, which means out of the number of publications that reviewed it, mostly all gave it a perfect or near perfect score gets ignored for AOTY and yet uneven albums like "Born This Way" and "Loud" get nominated. I mean really Grammy voters? Did Gaga need more smoke being blown up her ass?

And I like Rihanna just fine and Loud produced some good pop songs but that album wasn't close to being one of the best albums of the year much less the top 5. Frankly I would have put Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" in there over "Loud".

I can't believe Kanye West wasn't nominated for Album of the Year and yet managed to get the most nominations. MBDTF definitely deserved a nod over Bruno Mars' brand of cheesy pop. Hopefully Adele cleans up at the awards.

What was up with the AOY nom? That album is horrible! Its a singles album at best and is no were near as good as her previous work.

After hearing her single Rolling in the Deep for about six months straight, I think I'll take Adele on vocal rest and not performing please!

Seriously shocked that Rihanna was nominated for AOTY and Kanye wasn't. I can't even come up with a political reason to explain it. Makes no sense at all.

I think it should replace Rihanna's "Loud," which is cheesy electro-pop.

I'm sure the Grammy people are scrambling to find room for a Whitney Houston tribute on tomorrow night's show. If they get her in the In Memoriam segment, I don't ever want to hear that someone died too late to be included again.

I don't know if they have time to pull a tribute together. But, I expect at least half the Thank You speeches tomorrow to mention her.

Whitney Houston will not be in the "In Memoriem" segment. Whitney Houston gets her own tribute. Sad, but not shocking.

I was always praying for Whitney to pull through, I'm so devastated right now. I feel the same way I did when Aaliyah past :(

I fully expect TPTB to put a tribute together tonight. I'm sure there are artists who would be honored to rehearse all night in honor of Whitney. Of course, I don't know if this can really be done. It may be a 'only in the movies' feat.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they aren't up for it, but if we assume they are, then those Grammy people will just have to step aside for Dionne and Aretha to be first in line to participate. I'm sure they're been overwhelmed by calls from artists who want to pay tribute tomorrow. Last minute or no, I hope they pull it off.

I don't see Dionne being ready for it. Cissy either. Maybe Mariah via satellite? Just as long as its vocalists, not pop tarts like Katy Perry. Brandy would be perfect also as she and Whitney used to be close.

I've already read that Jennifer Hudson will be singing a tribute to Whitney. Was hoping for Gladys Knight myself. Her voice is comparable to the late Houston's. But Hudson will be lovely.

There are countless R&B singers who IMO would do justice to a Whitney Houston song. A-N-Y-body but Jennifer Hudson. I know it's not all about the viewer, but Jennifer's voice and style of singing just set my teeth on edge. ymmv

I think Jennifer was already scheduled to perform so it was only a matter of changing the song rather than starting from scratch with a whole new singer. I personally like her singing so I don't mind.

I think Jennifer Hudson would do a fantastic job. I like that there is a connection between them. Whitney was the one who presented Jennifer with her first grammy some years ago, which came on the heels of the tragic murders of her family members. I just think its kind of fitting that Jennifer would now be the one to sing a tribute to her, at the same show.

I remember when Michael Jackson died, the BET Awards had like 2 or 3 days to throw something together for their show, and in all honesty it was a hot mess, IMO. The Grammys literally have 24 hours to put something together. I haven't watched the Grammys in years, but I'll be tuning in tomorrow just to see how they handle this.

I too am afraid they'll give us the Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha, and Selena Gomez tribute to Whitney Houston.....in other words, using her passing to try to give their chosen ones a Moment. Someone tell me I'm wrong and that they'll take the high road.

Saw this Tweet by Donna Brazile and thought it was beautiful:

"May Jesus love, Luther Vandross greet, Lou Rawls comfort, Michael Jackson dance, Etta James welcome, and Ray Charles see Whitney ASAP"

Crazy how Whitney was in town to attend the Grammys and now a tribute is being made in her memory. Despite the possible drug circumstances, its a reminder of how quickly life can change and how we should be grateful for each day.

This will not happen for this one reason: an event such as this would be enough to make Whitney turn over in her grave and technically it is too soon for that to happen so... Disclaimer: This comment is made with all due respect to Ms. Houston.

Yeah, I'm not worried about the Grammys using those young'ins to do a tribute. Jennifer and Beyonce (thank goodness she's already out of commission because of the baby) are probably the youngest they would go (they are both 30). For a Whitney tribute, the Grammy people should know the bigger the name (and voice)...the better. And none of those aforementioned girls have a huge voice or even a decent one, IMO. So it would have to be people like Jennifer Hudson, Gladys, Patti, etc.

Crazy how Whitney was in town to attend the Grammys and now a tribute is being made in her memory.

I think its creepy as all get out that she died at the same hotel that the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party is happening. They haven't even taken her body out of the room yet. Yeshh.

With Clive Davis' Grammy clout, I doubt they'll give any performed tribute to Rihanna et. al. Clive may be one of the reasons Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute.

I do wonder/fear that Etta James' passing will be overshadowed now at the Grammys.

Apparently a lot of the people that were supposed to be there are skipping it out of respect for Whitney. It's gonna be a weird scene there tonight. I also heard the party is the reason her body's still there. There are so many people and paparazzi around they can't figure out how to move her from the room without being swarmed. Last I heard they were contemplating using the the helipad on the roof. Craziness.

I do wonder/fear that Etta James' passing will be overshadowed now at the Grammys.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is even a question. It's to be expected though. Etta James was older and had been ill with cancer for awhile. While Whitney had also certainly been sick for a long time, she had seemed to be getting better in the past few years and was still quite young. Such a shocking thing the day before the telecast is most definitely going to take over the show.

Brandy would be perfect also as she and Whitney used to be close.

I seriously doubt this will happen, considering her brother Ray J was with Whitney today and is (was) her rumored boyfriend. I'm hoping they'll have Gladys do something as well. I'd love to see Mariah too, but I believe she's in NYC at the moment. Also, I hate to say this, but having Mariah there might give a "Battle of the Divas" impression, since they were competitors for most of their careers. Well whatever happens, I'm definitely interested to see how they'll end up pulling it out.

Geez, that's crazy. Who could party with all that other commotion going on? Not to mention many at the party are probably associated with her one way or another. The party should've just been cancelled. I know Clive Davis did not attend anyway. Poor guy really stood behind Whitney all the way to the very end. Can't imagine how devastated he must be right now.
