T-Dog: Please Give This Man a Storyline

1. He's black.
2. He's clumsy with keys.
3. He contains twice the blood volume of most humans, which is the only reason why he survived the premiere.
Anything else?

But if you say his real name three times in front of a mirror...

And I don't know that I'd agree with gentle giant - he seems like he wants to be tough, just not very effective at it.
He does annoy me a bit in the extended preview for Sunday though with his big old speech to Dale but I'd like to see it in its entirety and in context before judging too much.

To add to the character study already begun here, we can add that he seems to have a respect for life, even the life of someone as toxic as Merle; he's also willing to give those he encounters in the ZA a fighting chance, as evidenced by his attempt to chain the door and block the Walkers from getting to Merle...
My hope is that they truly develop him as a character and keep him around for the duration--maybe throw in a love interest or skill or two to add to the group. I'll be sincerely upset if they do nothing but keep him as a background, two-dimensional character.

And Glenn promptly vomits all over the place. Then somebody half jokingly says "you sick bastard! What is wrong with you?! - I think it might be Jacqui.
It was Jacqui. And then she told Rick next time to "let the cracker beat his ass." Most inappropriate laugh of my life.

Poor T-Dog had redshirt written all over him from the get go, but he survived Season 1 against all odds.
One year later, AMC begins running previews of Season 2, Episode 1, and right away it looks like T-Dog is going to Stock Character Heaven, but again, against all odds (and with help from Awesome Daryl), he survives.
He has a fever-inspired meta-rant about his odds of making it, and yet he lives. He has the best line of the season so far, "Good thing we didn't do anything stupid like shoot it."
Now, it's time for Theodore "T-Dog" Douglas to get the proper storyline he deserves! If the show wants to go all soap opera, give him a love interest. If they want to finally make the zombie apocalypse show everyone wants, T-Dog deserves a bigger part! The man has suffered enough from joining these imbeciles. Where's the love?

I would love for Mr. Theodore Douglas to have a storyline of some kind; anything that will give the actor a chance to work his craft.

And definitely give Rick/Shane a run for their money in badassery.

He's been really good in the scenes he's had, I'd just like him to have his own sub-plot - doesn't even have to be the main storyline but something other than hanging out and tagging after the group.

Would it be weird if I set up a twitter account just to follow the actors from TWD? Yes? Ok, moving on.
not really, and there are some vastly entertaining twitter feeds out there. I follow George Takai, Wil Wheaton, Padma Lakshmi and Misha Collins. I've come to the conclusion that Twitter is best for stalking celebs and following causes and such, facebook is where you keep tabs on your friends (enemies too)

Rick married to Lori and they have Carl
Glenn is with Maggie
Shane is with Lori/Andrea/Rick
Jim was Married with kids
Jenner was Married
Merle got the clap...
Morales has a wife and two kids
Morgan has a wife (Jenny) and a son
Daryl has talked about his (abusive) dad and of course has brother Merle
Otis was married
Hershel is married
It's like Theodore is the only named character who has gotten a good amount of screen time yet has zero family history - no family, no friends, no wife, girlfriend, kids, nothing. Same thing with Jacqui.
Writers, please take 5 minutes away from Loris and give it to T-Dog so we can find out about his family and loved ones! Damn.

The meta character strikes again. Love it.

No kidding! I'm tired of the Rick/Shane/Lori pigpile-o-suck, T-Dog needs some love too and I want to find out more about him.

AMC has never been known for being racially progressive, but this is just ridiculous. The show is set in GEORGIA, a state with a 30% black population - ESPECIALLY in Atlanta and its surrounding rural areas. And yet the group of survivors, and everyone else they encounter, is 100% white (oh except for Glenn and T-Dog, the token minorities). In the southern Georgia country area, there'd be LOADS of black Daryls - poor, rural people with excellent hunting and survival skills. They'd be likely to survive a ZA much longer than middle-class white folk. Not to mention all the strong black characters they have to draw on from the comics. There's no excuse.
They really should've set the show in Minnesota or rural Wisconsin if they didn't want to write strong black characters. Add this to the weak, simpering way they portray women on this show, and it's surprisingly regressive and conservative for a show that supposedly takes place after the social order has collapsed.
