It looks like this chracter is going to be staying in Mystic Falls for a while. I'm liking the character and think the actress playing her is lovely. She is very different from her brothers. Right now she is getting whatever she wants like like putting herself in Salvatore mansion and enrolling in the school. Also the girl was smart enough to realize that Damon trying to distract her in the last episode.

It seems Rebekah might develop some kind of rivalry with Caroline over Tyler. It'll be interesting to see where that goes since it won't be long before Caroline realizes he is feeding on humans because of Rebekah.

I like Rebekah as well. She does seem somewhat pouty and bratty, but I suspect she may the youngest of the siblings (possibly the only daughter?) and is used to being babied a bit (just a guess). However, she seems savvy, and I loved how she took it upon herself to take up residence at the Salvatore Mansion and find herself a room when the brothers were less than accommodating.

If Elijah cannot be a regular Original on the show then, I hope Rebekah is. Her personality with the town works much better than Klaus. In fact, I would love for Elijah and Rebekah to set up shop together. That would be great.

Personally, I want to see these two in action together before I decide. I want to know where the lines are drawn. Elijah used to seem to side with Klaus and now Rebekah does as well, but somewhere along the line, a boundary was drawn. Why?

See I think with how Elijah has been all along and seeing him towards the end, I think family is most important to him. And I think Elijah knowing that Klaus wants an army for "him and his kind" made him realize this. I think if Elijah could talk to Rebekah, I think would "see" what Klaus wants. Although I think she knew in this 3rd season too.

They love their brother like everyone else does. But he is doing something wrong. I think they know but it takes a while for it too settle in for some. Elijah found out quicker than Rebekah.

The more I see her the more I think she isn't a brat. She just a victim of her own circumstance. I've just loved her and her character and I hope she stays around longer. Her and Elijah...please....

Wow...after tonight's episode, I think you are on to something. I think Elijah caught on to what Rebekah is now figuring out. I hope they band together. I would love to see Rebekah let Elijah out of his coffin.

I was hoping that the final scene of the episode would be a pissed off Rebekah freeing Elijah. I would watch the hell out of the Rebekah and Elijah Pretty Pretty Vampire Hunting Hour.

I think it's because Elijah discovered that Klaus had all of their sibilings "killed", that's what it sounded like in last season's final episodes.
However, I'd rather the rift between the brothers was caused by Elijah finding out that Klaus was the one who killed their mother and lied to everybody about it but I'm not sure it fits with what we were previously told (not that it would be a problem with this show).

What is the deal with her relationship with her brothers, though? I mean, Elijah and Klaus are clearly Stefan/Damon of another time, and Rebekah seems to be their Elatherine.

I definitely get an incestuous vibe from Nic and Becca. Especially after her hanging onto him in the flashbacks. I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I was getting that vibe, too, when he was showing off in front of her during that sword fight. It felt a little bit too much like two guys competing for a girl they both liked, which was a little squicky. I think it was meant to be more that Klaus was her cool older brother and she just looked up to him a lot, but the incest-y feel was definitely still present.

I also want to see her free Elijah and have them team up, but I really want to see her interact with Mikael, especially now that she knows he didn't kill her mother.

I really liked Rebekah this last episode.
If only she didn't enroll in high school and became a cheerleader on top of that (why o why? You're a thousand years old for God's sake!) she would be up there with Katherine in my personal ranking.

I get that, though. She grew up in an age when she was supposed to become an adult at an early age, and then she gets plopped down into a time when youth is celebrated. Might as well go for it.

After last week's episode, my new favorite character. I’m really worried the show may kill her off because they have a history of killing awesome female characters.

I cannot wait to see her in scenes with Mikael and Elijah.

There's so much potential with Rebekah, so I hope it's explored. She also has chemistry with everyone she's shared scenes with so far: Stephan, Damon, Caroline, Klaus, etc.

I don't know, I just can't see the appeal of doing that. I'd never go back to high school, I'd rather bash my head against a wall than having to deal with teenagers and she's 1000! At that age, she should find adult humans boring and annoying, teens should be completely insufferable.

I'm not convinced they are going to bring Elijah back in any meaningful capacity since this episode only gave him 1 or 2 lines of dialog and a couple of scenes, but I hope they do so I can see Elijah and Bex kick some Klaus ass.

I'm gonna go with she is lonely. She looks to be the only sister in a 7-sibling group. Katherine may or may not be lonely, but Katherine is an entity all by herself. Rebekah is what Elena said, to paraphrase, just a girl that loves recklessly and blindly and has no one else but her brothers. Katherine seems a schemer, and Rebekah just seems to want harmony.

Man, now we know why Rebekah seems so incesty with Klaus and Elijah, since that's apparently how their family gets down. After 3-14 I have a hard time watching the scenes with the Originals. Kol in particular seems to be rather jealous of Matt and annoyed at Rebekah for hanging out with him.

On another Rebekah note, can I say I watched the end scene a couple of times? Yes, I'm terrible, but her facial expression, combined with the ripping of clothes, and...yikes.

She's a brat. I'd hoped that when they brought Rebekah back in modern times that she would be more like she was in the 20s. She's been a huge disappointment to me. I'm sick of childish vampires. I'd hoped for her to be more like Elijah, more of a thinker than a tantrum-thrower. More like Pearl, I guess? A little bit of self-awareness goes a long way with me.

I'm disappointed that they've written Rebekah (and Klaus) as brats, too. It just doesn't make any sense to me that 1000 year old vampires would be brats no matter how dysfunctional their family was when they were alive. A thousand years should be more than enough time to grow up! I know people here have suggested that maybe vampires get stuck at the maturity level that they were at when they were turned, but I find that really unsatisfying on a story-telling level since it implies that none of the vampire characters can ever really change or mature.

That doesn't make sense either, people 1000 years ago matured quicker than they do today. Most people the Originals ages would have been married and multiple kids by the age they were turned.

I think 1000 years of getting whatever you want, actually taking whatever you want would make someone a huge brat. Who says no to them? They very much are like spoiled children minus some humanity.

I just love the sheer distaste for Elena that Rebekah has. It's like she's the voice of the audience. "Ugh, this girl is so lame and annoying, why the hell are all the Mystic Falls men falling at her feet like that?"

I don't know why, but whereas Klaus' brattiness drives me up the wall and back, in Rebekah's case I find it sort of entertaining. Maybe because she wasn't originally built up as this super-scary and threatening Big Bad, only to be relegated to pony-drawing.

Yes! Whenever Rebekah started getting more of these lines I started to like her so much more. She should be spreading some of that obvious wisdom to other residents of Mystic Falls.

I can't appreciate those comments. I like them better coming from Katherine who could actually be sassy without seeming lame. Coming from Rebekah it just sounds like petty jealousy. She tried to be friends with Elena herself, after all, and essentially admitted that it was Elena (oh so shockingly) only pretending to be Rebekah's friend that was a big part of why she was pissed. Her comment to Caroline about Elena stabbing people in the back just made me roll my eyes because exactly what kind of dig she thought she was getting in, I don't even know. Caroline was probably mentally rolling her eyes too, given who Rebekah is and what she was doing with Tyler. Then that line later in that scene about everything not being about Elena? Except, it was about Elena. Which is how sad Rebekah is. For all her bitching about everyone falling all over themselves where Elena is concerned, she's actually no different. She only asked out Matt to kill him so she could hurt Elena. Lame.

Is it asking too much for a graceful, intelligent, female vampire that has goals beyond a war with an 18 year old girl?

Probably not given who the main female lead is. Although Rose would count I guess, after the kidnapping part. ;)

Ok, I am really geniunely love Rebekah and geniunely liking the fleshing out of her character the show is doing.

She is loyal to Klaus because he's the only family she's had and the only one who truly stays around even if she can't trust him worth a damn and she knows it. She was ready to get rid of him once the rest of her family came back because he lied to her for centuries, but I get backing off once everyone else left and she was alone again. The line about her admiring/envying the Salvatores brothers' bond in her own family which is constantly backstabbing and trying to kill each other for over a 1000 years, adds layers to her as someone who is really lonely and whose only constant companion is a brother who she can't truely trust because she won't blind herself to who Klaus really is.

Then there is the romantic that she doesn't want to be but is. The only characters she's truly disliked are Elena and Sage two people who actually have people who truly love them in return. Finn and Sage were still going strong after 900 years apart from Sage's perspective and Elena has Damon and Stefan who Rebekah truly thought she had a shot with but neither was over their doppleganger. Not to mention the Original Petrova who Klaus and Elijah fought over in the beginning start the first real riff among her siblings. It's a different perspective than what we usually get. The vampire who doesn't miss humanity in and of itself but the simple deep human connfections live with, such as a loving family and relationship.

As for her lashing out last episode, they have been remarkably consisent with this characterstic of hers she snaps when people give her that connection and then lie to her and take it away. Klaus when he lied to her about their mother's death, Elena lying about being her friend, and Damon lying about falling for her. She obviously knows better, but still hopes than this time it will be different, the look that she had on her face after Damon's "I want you" was extremely vunerable and honest. The rage that follows is her feeling stupid for knowing better and wanting to hurt those who geniunely hurt her. Also here we see her skill what was her plan, to slowly bleed Damon dry through torture and compel him to kill Stefan. Also I like that there isn't many of the over the top dramatics either basically not wanting the others to see you hurt, it's shown through utter viciousness of her actions willing to burn Elena alive and having Damon kill his last and closest relative. Yeah she's a brat, but underneath that exterior there's real hurt, lonliness, and rage.

So of course tonight, they kill her through possession. Because the only cool vampire girl allowed to live in Mystic Falls is Caroline. PS Katerina take Stefan and run maybe your service to Delena which you have always shipped will be enough to keep you alive. So Vicky dead, Anna dead, Rose dead,Jenna dead, Rebekah dead, and yet Matt still alive. I guess if your an older vampire who is more compatable with Damon you have to die so you don't get in the way of the EPIC DELENA well hopefully Rebekah can come back from the dead if she's a good little Delena shipper, absolute scarcasm. Still pissed they killed Rebekah, and it's been an hour.

Poor Beks. Seriously, this is the second time she gets staked before the dance. She needs to go to prom; I don't even care with who (ok, except for Klaus...and that would be creepy anyway). She can go with Matt, Damon, hell even Jeremy...actually, Jeremy's the only one that hasn't screwed her over so he might actually be the best guy choice out of all the guys. But let her go to prom with somebody awesome who won't stake her/use her and will actually get her to the dance. Because this is ridiculous and I'm not even a major Beks fan. Until now, I guess.

I hope she makes it. I really like her and Claire Holt has been awesome. Seriously, she's been bounced around like a ping-pong this season, having episodes with Stefan (still upset that wasn't explored more), Klaus, Damon, Tyler, Matt, and Elena. She even had a nice scene with Caroline this episode. Holt really has a good chemistry with everybody and makes the most of her material. Hope she sticks.
