Hello! I'm TWoP Dietrich, the moderator of the Movies Without Pity section. Here's how this section works, broken up by subforum:
Movies General Gabbery
Threads for general movie topics, like "Movies We Hated" and "Movie Quotes."
In a Theater Near You
Threads for specific movies. These threads will ordinarily be opened by a moderator right before movies hit wide release, although when there's a lot of hype, they might be opened early. And if the moderator doesn't think it's a movie that will generate any discussion, a thread might not be opened at all. In which case, it can still be discussed in...
Genres and Series
A genre is something like "Action Movies" or "Road Trip." A series is "James Bond" or "Those Fast and the Furious movies." If a movie doesn't have a specific thread, it probably still falls into at least one of these threads. If the movie you want to discuss falls into more than one thread's category, pick whichever one feels most appropriate. Or the one where people are already discussing your movie.
Next, the spoiler policy. In the movie-specific threads, spoiler bars are never necessary for the topic of the thread. Anyone reading a thread that's explicitly about Movie X should be prepared to read about what happens in it. In other threads, spoiler bars are only necessary up until the movie hits wide release. Or wide DVD release, I guess. The basic rule is this: once the movie's out, go ahead and talk about it. If you have not seen a movie and don't want to know what happens in it, I advise you to avoid threads that will focus on that movie.
If a movie-specific thread has not been opened and you believe that it should be, you can ask in the Mod thread or PM me directly.
