Okay, I'm relaxing the rules. Discussion of Kris Allen and Kris Allen's music is, once again, allowed.

Having said that, there are some things that are off-topic. Don't talk about whether Kris is a "success," especially whether he's more or less "successful" than other performers. Don't talk about whether his label likes him. Don't talk about his fan base, or his anti-fan base. Don't talk about whether he should have won his season of American Idol.

Talk about Kris Allen and his music. Feel free to share your opinion and to discuss those things. However, if I feel that you're deliberately causing trouble, I will cheerfully ban you without a second thought. I believe that there can be a polite, on-topic discussion of Kris Allen.

This is my first post ever in this forum but I always enjoyed reading the discussions. I really don't think that the new rules are fair to Kris fans unless the other forums adopt the same rules. I sent a message to the site administrator about this but received no feedback. I hope that this new unfair policy is reconsidered and with that I'm probably banned after my first ever post.

And with that, I'm shutting down conversation about this issue. Feel free to complain via PM, but this thread is solely for media mentions.

I was waiting until Kris or his management said something about this, and now they have (Kris tweeted his thanks and the link is up on his official website; the story has also been picked up by some other websites), so...

Kris had his guitar stolen out of his car last week. In response, some of his fans have turned this into another way to support Kris's work with music education by donating to Donors Choose, helping to provide kids with instruments. Here's the link to this charity drive:

Really interesting Billboard.Biz article on how Sony Music is restructuring. I pulled out a couple of sections that could apply more to Kris's career.

Billboard.biz: What should we be calling the company now?

Peter Edge: RCA. We still have the Jive, J and Arista imprints and they are not going to go away. But we will be focusing on the RCA brand.

.Biz: And in pop?
Edge: We have a long list of artists including Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears. But still we want to grow here as we want to grow in urban.

.Biz: Going forward, RCA will be the flagship. Yet you have releases that will come out on the Jive, Arista and J imprints. Will that dilute your branding efforts for RCA?

Corson: We will worry less about label branding. That is more a business-to-business thing. The overall brand is RCA but just like most major labels, we have many variations and imprints under that umbrella. Now we have one more label name in Jive, but we will manage the label names in the way we have been doing all along.

.Biz: Going forward, will we see a tilt toward more digital releases or more singles versus album releases?

Corson: Right now, we are about 55% digital and 45% physical. We are in both markets. We have an album-selling act like Kings of Leon who can occasionally sell a lot of singles. And we have acts like Pitbull who can sell a lot of singles and also sell some albums. And then we have Ke$ha, who does both. What release strategy we use will be done on an artist-by-artist basis and we will look at where the artist fits in the marketplace. You can't take a general view. If we have an artist that is mainly selling singles, we will be just as excited about them as we are about an artist who sell a lot of albums. The best-case scenario is to have artist who sell a lot of both.

Basically, he said that the writing process is finished, and now he and the label are just looking for the right producer.

AI Now is reporting that Kris will appear on the Today Show on September 15, at 10 am to talk about the Kidz Bop contest. Kidz Bop also tweeted that Kris will be doing more press during the next few weeks to talk about the contest.

Kris has been in NYC since Monday and will be appearing on The Today Show tomorrow (Thursday, 9/15) sometime in the 10 a.m. hour. The 4 KidzBop finalists will be with him. According to the tweets about this appearance, he will be talking about his upcoming album as well as about the KB contest.

His manager, Lizzie, tweeted a couple of photos of him from today. The blondish woman next to him is the RCA A&R exec who is the other judge for this KB contest

Also, a new gig for Kris popped up on twitter. It is for a charity event in November in Kansas City. 3rd Annual Chocolates for a Cure charity auction in Kansas City, MO on Saturday, November 5th. Proceeds will benefit Waner Children’s Vascular Anomaly Foundation
