I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (working title) is a new multi-camera comedy about two best friends who are single moms struggling to raise their difficult and over-privileged teenage daughters. ANNIE (Emmy Award winner Jaime Pressly, “My Name Is Earl”) and NIKKI (Tony Award winner Katie Finneran, “Wonderfalls”) are former high school outcasts whose pasts inform their current parenting styles. Annie, who was raised in an ultra-strict, über-religious household where she had little-to-no freedom, pretty much allows her daughter, SOPHIE (Kristi Lauren, “You”), to do whatever she wants. Nikki, once an unpopular, overweight social pariah, has reinvented herself as a pretty Southern belle whose top priority is providing her daughter, MACKENZIE (Aisha Dee, “Dead Gorgeous”), with the childhood she never had. Sophie and Mackenzie are also best friends, which leads to a lot of co-parenting for Annie and Nikki. They have given the girls everything they asked for and everything they never had: clothes, money and self-esteem. The unintended consequence is they have created two mean girls just like the ones who tortured them years ago.

I actually laughed a couple times. I don't see the show making though.

I hope so, anyway, because whatever Katie Finneran does, I will watch.

The main characters don't seem to have a spine
That's what got me about the trailer. It didn't seem like they so much hate their daughters as they are just weak and intimidated by them. It got old in the trailer. I can't imagine making it through one episode.

It's not. If you've seen the trailer, you've basically seen the first episode. The only reason to watch it is to see Katie doing silly things. Very, very, very over the top.this show has to be better than it seems, right?

No, we don't eat pie with our hands.
I thought this show sounded funny after reading the description in EW. I really loved Jamie in My Name Is Earl, and I loved her cameo on Raising Hope.
I'm not loving the sneak peak at all.
Moms as weenies doesn't impress me. It irritates me. I agree, this plot device is going to get old quickly.

I hate their spoiled, bitch daughters. Their spineless, tactless mothers. And this unfunny, horrible show.
I must note, it's only been about 10 minutes.

I kinda chuckled a few times.
Canned laughter.....I know that annoys some people.
This will probably get formulatic fast but I didn't hate it.

I made it for about 15 minutes until I erased and canceled future recordings. Seems like the uncle might be the best/most likable character.

Agreed. I will however, in this case, watch with the sound off.

Well, that and "Good God, Woman, you're covered in pie!"
But the bear line was the ONLY one I actually laughed out loud at.

(I know there are other closet ATWT fans out there who watched this awful show just to see Eric Sheffer Stevens)

And getting me to believe that's Jamie Pressly's daughter is a stretch. They'd better reveal she got knocked up at 18 if not younger. Sadly, I like looking at Jamie Pressly, so I'll probably watch this for as long as its on.

But... it's a mid-season replacement on FOX. So they should at least be given a chance to find their legs.

She plays the High School principle
I noticed when you walk in the house, the stairs look like the ones on "Two and A Half Men"
Or was that "The Exes" ?

OMG, did they give Dr. Reid Oliver a perm?
(I know there are other closet ATWT fans out there who watched this awful show just to see Eric Sheffer Stevens)
I think that's natural curl because there were times Reid's hair had a curl to it.
I watched the show for Eric Sheffer Stevens and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. They need to find a balance but overall it wasn't bad for a reworked pilot. Will be tuning in for the next episode.

That said, it wasn't unbearable and this is a concept that I could see working with time, so I'll drop in on it a few weeks later to see what's changed.

The X Factor drew a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, down 11% vs. last week setting a Wednesday episode low. The second episode of I Hate My Teenage Daughter tumbled an dizzying 25% vs. its premiere to a 2.1 adults rating. I cautioned against assuming it would be canceled after one episode, no more cautioning from me now.
I have a feeling they're going to give it one more week before they announce a cancellation.

Just watched the second ep on OnDemand.Looks like this show might not be around too much longer.
Ouch.
Jaime Pressly still shines, but rest of the cast and the writing made my fillings hurt.
I hope she's looking for a new gig.

The promos are enough to make me avoid this. It's not trainwrecky enough like "Whitney" to check out for fun. Sorry.
