Braxton Family Values

This time it's Toni Braxton and her younger sisters, Trina, Tamar, Traci and Towanda (their brother declined to star in the show but will make appearances) and their drama. Apparently Toni declined initially when they asked her to do it a few years ago but eventually relented.
It premiered on We tonight at 9pm EST and is repeating again at 11pm and 2am

Why didn't Traci just ask for Tamar's spot in Toni's show?

Please get a new hair/wig/weave stylist and makeup artist ladies. The concealer around the eyes on all of them was ridiculous. I am no supermodel/makeup artist or hairstylist but come on ladies. I am thinking Tamar's plan of her husband making her a star haven't come thru. Hopefully he has a good prenup. The assistant sister seems ok but kinda mannish looking.

Watching Braxtons helps me understand why I don't fool with Real Basketball Housewives. Too much estrogen!
I hate Tamar. Seriously. HATE. Tamar, you are so extra dot com, dot net, dot org, dot gov.
Aaaw. Traci needs prayer and a hug. Traci, girl, you need to just ask your sister if you can sing background.
Tamar was born LAMAR.

I loved me some Toni Braxton back in the day. "Another Sad Love Song", "Breathe Again", "You're Makin' Me High", "Un-Break My Heart", etc. Loved all of it. When she was good, she was really good. She seems level-headed enough, probably out of necessity to keep her family from completely imploding.
Tamar....oh Tamar. My God. She thinks she is a special snowflake. I liked her husband. He clearly knows what he's talking about, not that you'd know it for all his wife listens to him. He must be some kind of saint...or martyr. I laughed at his "thetruth.com" rebuttal to her "overthetop.com". Her expectations and delusions of grandeur are insane. Her basically just sitting on a contract pretty much makes all of her whining and complaining about being a backup singer all the more maddening.
I felt bad for Traci. She really just needs to ask Toni if she can sing with her. She can just take Tamar's spot since she hates it so much.
"Whew...Thank God for Jesus" - Mama Braxton. Indeed...

I think Towanda is actually quite pretty. I didn't think so back in the day. I remember Toni had her sisters in her 7 Whole Days video. I think Traci was the one with the blondish mushroom. Wasn't one of them on Starting Over? Clearly Tamar is acting. The whole show looks completely scripted. Moreso than others. I thought her husband was gay, honestly. And unless he's blind, or just came back from the eye doctor, his big bama ass needed to lose the sunglasses indoors. Just for that, I think I hate him. Speaking of husbands, I wonder if Kerry will make an appearance.

I don't get why Tamar didn't just offer Traci the background singer position if she hated it so much. I feel for Traci...she looks genuinely hurt that she's not as involved in the singing as she used to be. Must have sucked to give up your career when you really didn't want to for the sake of your fam.
I think these women have self image issues; the too light foundation, the plastic surgery, the ugly Yaki wigs. Trina is the only sister who looks somewhat natural, and she is the prettiest next to Toni, imo. Even Traci looks like she did something to pinch her nose.
I read that Toni wanted to use this show to kind of revive her career and show how hard she works for her autism foundation, but Tamar has said she wanted it to be a bit more interesting than that.

I've always liked Toni Braxton--even after she rocked the weave, and had money issues. "Seven Whole Days" is my all-time favorite, and I'm still get goosebumps everytime I hear it on the radio. With that said, I will be tuning in.
Wasn't Towanda on Staring Over?

Because if she'd offered her the position then she couldn't bitch about how much better she is than being a lowly background singer.I don't get why Tamar didn't just offer Traci the background singer position if she hated it so much.
As much as I have loved Toni over the years I don't know that I can stand to watch this show due to Tamar. I can take the bad weaves, nose jobs, crying and over the top behavior, to a point, but Tamar works every nerve I have and a whole bunch I don't have.
She gives new meaning to entitled. I dang sure believe she married her husband because of what she thought he could do for her career.
This. So much this. And if I never hear .com used in that context again it will be too soon. Her expectations and delusions of grandeur are insane.
The thing Tamar appears incapable of understanding is that a whole lot of people can sing. Singing alone is not enough to make a singing career. Besides which, there is singing and there is singing... the latter of which involves have that certain unidentifiable something in your voice and or your presence that puts you on another level. An 'It' factor. You either have it or you don't.
And because Tamar puts me in rant mode, she doesn't have the drive to make it. She's not out there working her ass off in hopes of making it big. No, that would require too much effort. Instead she wants it handed to her on a silver platter because to her mind, she simply deserves it. It doesn't matter that that contract might not have everything she wants. She's still a nobody, trying to break in. Negotiating power comes with actually having an established career, not before, regardless of who your husband is (apparently).

That said, I will be tuning in only for Toni. I do not like the way that she handled the conversation when her sister and her sister's husband came to her for advice. She said that she understood where Tamar (?) was coming from. Whaaaa? She understands that her sister wants to put a clause in her contract to put out a rushed album? Toni has been in the business longer and she would have been the one to set Tamar straight. I am disappointed that she didn't.
Tamar, grow up. Your husband is a very successful producer. He will not put his rep on the line by rushing an album when the time isn't right...wife or no wife. Why do you not understand this?
think these women have self image issues; the too light foundation, the plastic surgery, the ugly Yaki wigs.
Agreed. I can undestand a little Botox, but what happened to being happy with what you were born with? I once considered Toni one of the most beautiful women in the world, and she still is. Please Toni, stop before you go overboard and ruin your looks.

The girl won't even pick up a pen and scribble her signature on a contract. Pure laziness! She's too immature to understand that the contract protects her just as much as it protects her husband.
Her husband, Vince, was a fool for even entertaining the thought of managing her though. I can't see them lasting.

Yep, that was her. I vaguely remember her on there (that Nyanza chick who was on a season or so prior will always stick in my mind when I think of that show) but she seems rather level headed and not as dramatic as the others.Wasn't Towanda on Staring Over?
When thinking of the sisters as a whole, I think back to the video for "Seven Whole Days" (which was my ish), as well as the Braxton's minor run in the late 90's ("Only Love" and the remake of Diana Ross's "The Boss" aka my 'clean the house' song were my faves) and always thought the sisters were all attractive and Towanda was the one with the 'bless her heart' features but now I see the resemblances in all of them. I always thought Trina (whichever one they alluded to having a drinking problem) was the prettiest alongside Toni.
Tamar's weave (and overall personality) is too much. I must've been sleep deprived because one of her TH segments was styled like Camille's from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I thought when the episode started that she was vying to be a breakout 'reality' star until we kept getting bashed over the head with her attitude. So not cute.com. What has she been doing the past 5 years? She could've saved her dollars in between "sangin in the background" and gone to the studio and had some of her tracks "accidentally leaked" onto Youtube or something to generate some buzz because I think her time has already passed. With that said, she could sing, though.
I'm not a big makeup girl, but I knew something was off when seeing Toni in the TH segments along with her nose, which I never noticed before. Whoever said 'koala bear' was right on but I still find her cute and don't think she needs to overdo the sexy that she sometimes does in her more recent videos (her feature in the Aaliyah "Miss You" video is the worst offender, IMO) because she just is.
I was surprised to find out on Wendy Williams'(?) show a while back that their parents were divorced. I think that will come up on the show, too.

I use to love Toni back in the day. Until I realized that my mother was right when she said that Toni does alot of mumbling.
I don't think it is a question of Traci asking to be a part of the background, she wants to be asked by Toni. Apparently Toni hasn't for a reason.

Yes she was on Season 2 methinks trying to get a solo career going. Sometime later "the responsible one" was charged and sentenced for forgery and theft. The charges: The allegations against Towanda Braxton. The mugshot: Not too bad, actually The sentencing: STATE VS BRAXTONCARTERWasn't Towanda on Staring Over?
Looks like she's got it together now, which is good to see.

Whoa, prmami! I really thought at the time that I was the only person that took notice to her doing that in that video. I was like, "Uh, Toni, why are you 'Video Chick-ing' in this dedication song to Aaliyah's passing...?...but I still find her cute and don't think she needs to overdo the sexy that she sometimes does in her more recent videos (her feature in the Aaliyah "Miss You" video is the worst offender, IMO) because she just is.
Re: her, err, changes I thought that Toni had done something to her face but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. First, I thought she may have had her cheeks done but then I remembered that, despite her having somewhat of a babyface, she's always had nice bone structure. Not to sound all "after the fact" (meaning- commenting on how "Be-yooo-ti-ful!!!111" someone was, naturally, only after they tore their face/body up...See Heidi Montag) but what in THE world was wrong with her nose that she had to mess up her flawless yet unique face? But I think that the thing that always drew me in to Toni's beauty was her skin tone and the way that her shorter dark hair looked up against it.

As for Traci, I don't feel sorry for her at all....girl, take yo ass to Toni, sit her down and tell her you want to sing backup with her and stop fucking whining already! I too thought of her weight as a possible reason Toni hasn't asked her but on the real she's not that big, maybe she'd just need a tad bit larger costume but she'd blend in well with the rest of the backup singers.
Will definitely be tuning in each week.
ETA: There is a live version of SWD that I have been trying to track down, I liked Toni's singing on that one*....as for fave TB song, I'll always love the dance version of Un-Break My Heart, takes me back when me and my gubby used to dance our asses off at the Philly gay clubs. *Ooh! Thank Christ for YouTube, I found the SWD track I was talkin' 'bout!

I know that I'm in the minority but I love Tamar. I've been a fan for years ("If You Don't Wanna Love Me" still gets play on my iPod) and am one of the people that helped her debut album reach #167 on the Billboard charts. LOL Plus, it's true. The girl can sing. I find her whole diva routine funny, especially since the show comes across as so scripted. A reality show with no drama is a bore to me and my girl brings the drama and then some lol
I love Tamar's music. I still bump her debut album.
I actually wouldn't have minded if the show was solely focused on what was going on with Toni. She got divorced (shortly after kissing Trey Songz at an award show), she has an autistic child, she's filed for bankruptcy twice, and she has a lot of heart problems. She's interesting on her own. Tamar is funny, but she's so extra with it. She was so normal and down-to-earth when she was on that reality show Tiny and Toya, but she said she wanted this show to be more interesting.

Let's not forget Trina was in Tyler Perry's stage play "Meet the Browns" singing her butt off.
The one sister that kept crying about not being a back ground singer got on my nerves. I knew this was scripted because Toni has been singing for a shit load of years and she now wants to complain about feeling left out. This would be understandable like 20 years ago with Toni starting out or them being teens. But they are 40 something year old women, girl give it a rest.
Toni's nose does look smaller than before. I knew she had a nose job a while back, but it may have been redone or the contouring of the make-up was bad. Also, did she have breast implants at one time but had them taken out?

Toni's lack of accountability for her financial failures is very irritating.
This show is a Fail.

See, and I think all of them but Toni look like female impersonators. They have very masculine features to me....always thought the sisters were all attractive and Towanda was the one with the 'bless her heart' features but now I see the resemblances in all of them.
