I didn't find a thread for the Fox show--hope this is in the right place.

Did anyone besides me see this horror last night? I dislike Howie Mandel but like flash mobs, so I gave it a try. What a mistake! Howie was obnoxious. He wanted to deliberately hurt the girl's feelings, I guess because it would make for better TV. The whole "we're getting married right now and you don't get to have any say about what happens" was all kinds of wrong. They put that wedding dress that didn't fit over her regular clothes, stuck a crappy tiara that looked like it was borrowed from Toddler & Tiaras on her head and threw her into it. It can't have been a legal marriage (in California a couple must apply for a marriage license ahead of time), so I can only hope that she gets a real wedding, one that she gets to plan.

Yeah, I was looking forward to this show, and then it was horrible. I really wanted the woman in the group to assert her opinion about the fake-out a lot louder. It was a terrible idea, not at all funny, and then they were so shocked in the control room when she got upset. How stupid are they? Yes, definitely hoping she gets her own great wedding, and for putting her through all this, FOX should pay for it.

This show will not last. The novelty of it kind-of-worked, as a special airing. I don't believe she was caught completely unaware, either. Had to laugh at the big-girl Wedding over-Dress thown over her like a sack.

Howie ruined what could have been a fun, light-hearted concept by trying to create DRAMA. The girl's tears after the "ex-girlfriend" stormed off were cringe-worthy, not entertaining. And what girl wants to look like a snivelling mess in a half-open potato sack on her (supposed) wedding day? They should have stopped with the proposal, which was kind of cute.

I totally agree, I've always liked Howie Mandel, but I was not at all impressed with his ideas on the show, especially the ex-girlfriend fake-out, that was horrible. And I'm sure that poor girl felt pressured to go ahead with the wedding, but if it were me I'd be thinking about all the plans I had for my wedding day (which I hope she still gets to do), and how they didn't involve wearing a white sack over my regular clothes.

Also, the flash mob felt a little too polished; to me part of the charm of them is the less-than-professional feeling to them, just a bunch of folks having fun and not the over-the-topness that was the show last night. Not feeling it.

Hated the wedding (unless the families get to party and etcetera afterwards, that was just impersonal and unpleasant), hated the fake gf set-up, cried like a stupid princess-party nincompoop for a lot of the rest of it. Enjoyed seeing Nappytabs and the SYTYCD kids that were there.

This was my only incentive to watch. So I could point out various dancers.

My favourite bit was actually the dancers trying to encourage the bf to show his dance moves. They were trying so hard to be nice. Actually, the bf and his groom's party did an astonishingly good job on the actual dance - I'd love to know if the show played games there - I certainly saw more dancers than his three groomsmen and it looked like it was heavily edited.

OK, I admit that I sort of loved this and caught myself tearing up several times. Maybe because my proposal came in a parking garage with a quick "maybe we should get married" I find these elaborate proposals pretty sweet....and I have to say I thought the groom came off as very sincere and the bride very swept up....The only issue is that wedding dress....couldn't they have at least ZIPPED IT UP? That was my only WTF moment.....

Last night's episode was pretty good, even if it felt like a big plant. The kiss felt a bit awkward, but I did feel something genuine between the two leads. I think it was how he was talking to her, whispering in between the stage sets - I hope it works out.

It was also really weird that they know she has a fear of elevators, and they choose to have three guys stand silently in the elevator with her, staring straight ahead. Would it have been that bad to let one of them say, "Hey, I know you're freaked out and hate elevators, but just bear with us for the next ten seconds, and you'll forget all about it once you see what's next"? Talk about extra freaky.

Does it make me a horrible person that I sort of want to see someone not think the whole flash mob/public proposal/surprise whatever was cute and actually the bf/gf down? I wonder if the girl from last night didn't tell the interviewer about the guy because she knew how weird the whole thing sounded or because she didn't have as much invested as he did.

I normally dislike NappyTabs' choreography on SYTYCD but I suppose their cheesiness fits nicely for the show. *grumblegrumble*

What would they have down if she had a panic attack and started crying, hyperventilating or feeling faint? They took a major risk with that poor girl who was already confused and shocked.

Well, she was asked if she ever had a long distance relationship. If we want to get technical about it, they are "best friends", not "dating each other". (Or maybe the best friends part is only from his view, since we actually heard him utter those words.) So maybe in her mind, that doesn't qualify for long distance relationship. I almost wish she was asked if she has a best friend that lives far far away instead... but that wouldn't be very "dating service" of the interviewers haha.

As much as I wish for a NO sometimes from these type of shows, just to switch things up... that Steve guy seems so adorable, I really wouldn't want to see him crushed on national TV. There are a few on youtube, where a guy proposed to his girlfriend on cam, on the court actually, during an NBA game halftime, down on one knee holding a ring and all. She rejected him and walked away. (the mascot's reaction was funny though). Some people just don't like being put in the spotlight, and who can blame them?

The only episode I've seen is the last 45 minutes of the one that aired tonight, with the young man seeking his brother's forgiveness for selling his guitar and possessions. Watching the "mark" weep without a tear in sight made me wonder if all the "Mobbed" episodes are as poorly staged as this one was. Phooey.

ITA, the setup was so poorly done, my 11 year old daughter was able to catch the different shots as the apologizing brother's headset mic switched sides every 2 minutes...continuity anyone?

Howie acting all "dramatic" and "nervous" made me wanna puke. I thought it would be good because it was different that those corny marriage proposals. But it had lame written all over it, including the mother being involved.

Clearly the brother had a good idea of getting his fledgling band some really needed publicity. I doubt the fued was for real, but whatever. It kept me entertained. I do believe that the lead singer brother was surprised.

Your daughter has a quick eye! But it was still one live take shot with multiple cameras. Some cameras were on the left side of the action, and others were on the right. To preserve visual continuity and keep the apologizing brother always on the right side facing left, they sometimes had to flip a shot to a mirror image. If they had cut between the cameras without doing this, the action would be harder to follow as each brother repeatedly switched from facing left to facing right.

This show is certainly over-produced and has too much manufactured drama, but I still find it fun to watch. I don't think the initial setup is fake, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out they have the participants re-enact segments. They would be foolish to not at least have the mark walk through the dancing portion again and act surprised; not to get more footage of the mark, but rather to give the crew and dancers a second take.

They should not do a "Suprise! I'm in love you" Mobbed again.

That was so embarrassing.

I felt bad for both people in that situation but what a way to be rejected! Let down easy in front of a huge flash mob production and Howie Mandel. That poor guy looked like he wanted to crawl in a hole or escape the whole time. Everytime the music stopped his eyes screamed "Is it over? Please say it's over!" I think they should have researched a little more to see if those two really liked each other or if it was all in the poor woman's head. Oh that "dance" she did behind the curtain had me laughing and cringing especially after she came out and basically was so awkward she could barely walk straight.

I felt bad for her, too. At least, it seems from the guy's twitter feed (his name is Cary Epstein) as if the episode was filmed at least a year before it showed. They don't work together any more. He seems a little bit toolish to me; his tweets are all about going here and there to dance on programs, so I guess he's trying to break into show business.

I don't blame him for saying no-- that girl was crazy to think that someone who'd shown no interest in her for a year would be impressed by this gesture. Not that I blame her for trying; she just should have allowed for the possibility of a rejection.

He was more than a little toolish -- not stopping Howie right away from reciting the incorrect accomplishments but actually PLAYING ALONG WITH IT until he was forced to fess up.

I also saw a ton of arrogance in the way he responded to some things, like he believes he's all that. He's not. He's kinda goofy-looking, if you ask me.

After witnessing the mobbed-wedding, this is just a great peer pressure, mob induced, bullying thing, with cameras. It's candid camera on steroids.

I really disliked the wedding episode, too. It's one thing to share good news but these other situations are so pressure packed and invasive that I felt uncomfortable watching. I don't think I'll be seeing any more. I also think that the show is pretty mean about how it treats the "victim" before hand.
