Having made VH1 an offer they couldn’t refuse, The Weinstein Company (TWC) and Ben Silverman’s next-generation multimedia studio, Electus, an operating business of IAC (Nasdaq: IACI), will launch the currently titled Mob Wives, a reality series created by Jennifer Graziano of JustJenn Productions. VH1 has picked up the program in a ten-episode, straight-to-series commitment, with production beginning after Thanksgiving for a tentative debut in March 2011.

Mob Wives is a reality show based on the lives of four struggling “allegedly” associated women who have to pick up the pieces and carry on after their husbands or fathers do time for Mob-related activities.

Here's a teaser. They haven't announced the names of the cast yet but the show premieres on April 17th.

Last week, we showed you a very brief Mob Wives teaser, but today, we’ve got a brand new Mob Wives super teaser to share with you. Karen Gravano, daughter of the infamous Mafia informant Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, and the other cast members are all long-time friends who reside in Staten Island. On the show, you’ll see them battle their friends, families and each other as they try to do what’s best for themselves and their children. You’ve all seen movies that glamorize the lives of those involved with organized crime, but with Mob Wives, we’re giving you a real look at what it’s like to be born into or married to the mob.
Don’t forget, Mob Wives premieres on Sunday, April 17, only on VH1!

We finally get to meet the cast, here.

Renee Graziano is like any other single mother, trying to raise her teenage son AJ to be a good man. But Renee’s own childhood was not like most other kids. She grew up during the heyday of the mob, enjoying the lavish lifestyle that her father Anthony Graziano’s connections afforded her. But now that AJ’s father and her ex-husband “Junior” has been arrested, she’s slowly realizing that this is not a life she wants her son to lead. She now struggles to balance her allegiance to the street life with her hopes that her son will live a life that’s free of it.

Karen Gravano was just 19 years old when her father turned on the mafia, a move that left Karen devastated. She has spent the last 12 years in Arizona fighting to become her own person and understanding the choices made by her father Sammy “The Bull” Gravano who helped the government take down John Gotti and the Gambino crime family. Now, she is ready to start over and return to Staten Island to reconnect and rebuild old relationships as she confronts her family’s notorious past.

Drita D’avanzo comes from a strict Albanian household and defied her parents by marrying an Italian, someone outside their community. Tough as nails, Drita plays hard and is fiercely protective of her inner circle and her two young girls that she is raising alone while her husband does a second stint in prison for bank robbery. She now grapples with her husband’s misdeeds and the consequences of falling in love with and marrying a man who has been in prison for many years. Drita is finally questioning whether she should stay with him or start anew.

Carla Facciolo had a similar upbringing to Renee Graziano. In fact, her father went to prison when she was a young girl. Carla thought she had finally gotten away from the lifestyle she lived growing up — until her husband was convicted of stock fraud and sentenced to an 8-year stretch in federal prison. Now a stay-at-home mom trying to make ends meet, she still hasn’t told their twins the truth of their dad’s whereabouts because she feels they are too young to know. But he’s getting out of jail soon, and Carla’s decided to leave him and go out on her own. But how will she do that?

this made me think of Phaedra from RHOA glossing over how Apollo did time for "White Collar crime"...saying it as if it weren't a big deal since he didn't loot or hold up a 7-11

I was in as soon as I saw the one (Renee?) getting choked up by the other one.

They just showed the five minute preview on Vh1. I agree with you, Danie84 about airing their dirty laundry, especially the one returning to the area to "resolve" things.

As a professed reality show junkie, I am so in!! (I too am surprised they are getting away with this, but since their husbands are pretty infamous already and doing jail time I guess the whole omerta vow of silence doesn't really mean that much anymore.) I'm a little disappointed Victoria Gotti patron saint of Mafia Princesses/Wives is not involved in this show in any way shape or form. I would have loved for her to take on a "godmother" style role on the show. BTW, these women are absolutely terrifying from the previews they almost make the New Jersey wives look like Ladies who Lunch.

So happy I skimmed the thread titles looking for a certain show or else I would have never knew Mob Wives existed. I watch a few shows on VH1 (Tough Love & Tool Academy) but both are off season right now so I don't really ever watch that channel these days.

Saw the long preview and this looks amazing. I loved the commentary about mob laws & how one keeps their mouth shut, doesn't reveal secrets, don't rat, etc.. ..
I guess the exception to mob code is, 'unless you want to be a reality show mediawhore and then it's okay to air your dirty laundry on national television for the world to see'. Go figure.
I welcome it.

I will gladly watch this trash. The first time I saw the commercial, I thought 'whoa, these women are kind of dumb to publicize their families in this manner'. I thought discussing your husbands/fathers/cousins dealings with the mob was a huge no-no.

So I watched the extended teaser and thought, "oh that must be Renee she does look like a cat in a wig"...then the next one appeared and I said, "oh maybe that's Renee because she resembles a siamese cat"...by the third one I threw my hands up and said this is the Feline Wives, boy have these women had some work done.

I think Renee will bring the crazy like no other! Carla reminds me of Danielle Staub on RHOJ--just hope she isn't as nutty.

I really enjoyed this show, and I think it's going to bring the drama way more reliably than the other reality shows I've seen.

Still, the whole "I'm a mobster daughter/wife so don't mess with me" schtick got real old before even 10 minutes of the show were over. I can't tell if these women really take themselves as seriously as they pretend to or not. I think Renee does, but Karen appeared to want to laugh after everything she said.

I'll definitely keep watching. After the previews, it looks like next week will be amazing.

Carla is the hottest one because I guess she looks the most natural. Drita is all pulled and skinny and tightened to death. The other two, forget it.

And could reality shows drop the conceit that these people just simply have no idea they're being filmed? I had to keep giving the side eye to the television every time Carla talked about wavering on inviting Karen to her birthday party. Of course you're going to invite her...she's filming the same show you are.

Speaking of Karen, couldn't the writers come up with a better idea to send her back to Staten Island other than "she's going there to write a book"? She's going there to film a TV show.

And maybe my standards of beauty have been lowered from years of watching terrible programming featuring victims of plastic surgery, but I thought Drita was really pretty. /sad

I am SO loving this show already. It has everything I desire in a reality show. Over the top jewelery, politically incorrect furs, horrible plastic surgery, drunken antics, chicks that believe in the beat down, husbands in prison. What more can you ask for??!! I'll be tuning in every week.

I already love Drita. Maybe its because she reminds me so much of Flo from "BGC" and I love Flo so I'm already in Drita's corner. Rene on the other hand. I refuse to believe this chick was born female. REFUSE to belive it. She was born a boy and had the operation sometime in her youth to make her into a female because there is no way in hell she was born a girl. No way. She looks like a man, she sounds like a man, she even has a body like a dude minus the boobs. And her face is hard!! Just like Victoria Gotti looks like her father in drag, I'm sure Rene is the same way.

Sammy Gravano is currently in prison for running a major ectasy ring in Arizona. He got twenty years (or twenty years to life...I can't remember). The ironic thing is that he is doing more time for dealing drugs than he did for admitting to killing nineteen people. IRC I think his son and Karen's boyfriend at the time also got busted (I think the mother got hauled in as well). When Karen was on the phone with her brother I was wondering where he was calling from. It sounded like he was on a cell phone so maybe he got released from prison.

This show was pretty much everything I expected.... amazing. darn you VH1 for sucking me back in the season looks so good my thoughts:
Renee: Her meltdowns this season look epic. She does seem very old school and I wonder the age difference between her and the other women. She was a very pretty woman in older photos, I wonder if the stress and smoking has caught up with her over the years. Her son was a cutie pie and seemed to really calm; I was half expecting a over the top Gotti knock off.

Karen: I think she is half in on the joke, and her returning to write a book could have been written better. I couldn't help but wonder her she has quasi-celebrity status in Arizona and plays up the mafia princess sterotype.

Carla: I thought she was very pretty. She reminded me of Michelle Pfifers' charecter in Married to the Mob. Does she work, I wasn't sure if it was mentioned. Also, I wonder if her husband knows she does not have any plans to pull a Karen Hill and reunite with him after his jail stint is over.

Drita: I thought she was pretty too esp in her TH's. She is a very tough cookie though and pretty intimidating. Her history with husband as Karen ex pretty interesting.

I was turning back and forth from the Knicks game :(, so I only caught bits and pieces. I don't care what anybody say Rene's a MAN BABY! That jar and face is too hard for me to be convince otherwise.

I also thought that Drita sounded just like Flo and wondered if that was an Albanian thing. Also, what prison is her husband in that they get to receive that kind of food in the mail? Cold cuts, Vanilla Coke, etc? I know about putting money on their books so that they can buy that kind of stuff, but it was like this guy was in the military and she was sending him a care package. If I ever go to jail (and I have no desire or intention of ever seeing a jail as an inmate or a visitor in my lifetime) that's the one I want to be in.

I feel sorry for Renee. She is really way too caught up in this whole mob lifestyle thing and she sounds quite ignorant every time she opens her mouth. So worried about being cut off by daddy, she can't possibly have a mind of her own. Hate on Sammy the Bull all you want, but his daughter had nothing to do with anything that happened. Grow up already girlfriend because you look really stupid.

Karen, I wanted to like her but the talking with the hands and bitch this/bitch that got old really fast and I thought it looked like she was trying to put on a show to prove how badass she is. I guess in that circle you can't act timid or show your fear but on her, it still looked fake and she wasn't fooling me at all. I will say that Renee seemed to be a little intimidated by her.

Carla, I have no thoughts on. She straight up lied when she said Renee didn't ask her if Karen was coming. I was hoping the editors sliced in that video right after she said it. I can't believe she has her kids thinking their day was away working. I know they're young, but they have to be wondering what kind of job he had that he couldn't at least visit every once in a while.
