From TwoP's TV Listings:

The aliens keep Ryan in isolation on the mothership so Anna can experiment on his baby; Chad wants to fight with the Fifth Column; Erica seeks out a scientist who can explain Red Sky.

Damn, this wasn't that good. I'm not losing hope yet, but that kinda sucked.

It was only okay. I liked Anna beating that Visitor dude - glad we got to see a bit more of what they look like under the human skin. I don't have anything else.

I'm totally spoiler free, so have to admit I squealed like a little fangurrl when I saw Jane Badler at the end!

I think the writers were hanging out in the forums last year. They killed Tyler and then took it away. Those bastards.

Lizard baby!

Anna is a pimp. No, really. Way to prostitute your daughter for the greater good.

Tyler was the first alien-human hybrid. I'm going out on a limb and say that Krycek is an alien.

Thank you wardrobe department for putting Elizabeth in motorcycle boots and a vest.

Finally: DIANA.

The bit about Erica's pregnancy possibly being interfered with was something I've been thinking for a while. It would explain why Tyler's DNA doesn't match his father's when Erica insists that she was never unfaithful to him. And it might be an explanation for why he's such a dummy about the V's. (Trying to redeem the little bastard here.)

I did love how Anna's mother was sitting in her creepy swamp habitat in a red gown and heels.

Yay for Bret Harrison being back on my TV. And now the Fifth Column has two guys potentially playing both sides in Hobbes and Ryan? At least Chad seems to have learned his lesson.

Another yay for Joshua not being dead, but boo to him having his memory erased. Would much prefer a Joshua/Lisa pairing to Tyler/Lisa. At least he didn't annoy much this time around.

I thought this was more in line with the last few episodes of the previous season, which is a good thing. Sure, the show isn't hitting on all cylinders, but I welcomed them stepping up the gore. I also like the science kid as an addition to the team. I'm still not sold on Decker being able to stay a "good" guy either.

and on a shallow note, more Lisa please.

Chad has most definitely not learned his lesson.... Not at all. He's a slime and will betray the Fifth Column when he gets a chance.

Ditto with Joshua. Methinks that he isn't brainwashed at all and is playing everyone big time.

I agree. If not THE first, one of the first. I'm betting that will come out soon.

Great point! I'd forgotten about Tyler's DNA not matching his father's.

When the red rain happened at first, my first thought was that there was some sort of mind control, or hallucinogen in it. Something along those lines. I didn't expect the phosphorus/breeding thing.

The lady at the end, Anna's mother---was that the actress from the original "V"? I was young when it first aired and so I don't really remember. (I'm thinking I need to spend tomorrow streaming it on Netflix.)

Edited to add: the science kid.....he was Brad on "Grounded for Life". I didn't recognize him (I hate that show...the daughter makes me want to hurt things.), but my husband is a fan and recognized him right away. It's neat to see the actor in a role where he's actually playing an intelligent person, not a moron.

I'm actually not a fan of the science nerd. Way too much scrappy potential there. It's almost like he's the replacement Tyler.

Yes, that's the original "Diana". There've been spoilers out for a while.

I'm neutral at the moment about this bit of stunt casting. (Still remembering Richard Hatch's hissy fit that got him on BSG. Ick)

Well, hey. Tyler's Mom too, right?
It was better than I remembered. Each time I felt myself falling into a ginormous plot hole they retconned themselves out of it with a bit of exposition fairy dialogue. But if this board is any indication, the audience has already left the building.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Joshua is faking. At least I hope he is. Though not sure what's going to happen with him, I hope there's more with Lisa. I really like their scenes. As opposed to being squicked out whenever she has a scene with Tyler, who is such a boy and still annoying.

Overall I wasn't that impressed tonight but I'll keep watching.

That was a cruel bait-and-switch.

Every time somebody pisses Anna off, she comes up with a new method of kicking ass: she'll skin you alive, or make you take a 'splodey pill, or eat your face, or just give you the tail-beatdown. Or, you know, create widespread environmental degradation. Performance evaluation time at V Head Office must really suck.

Sooooo we're breeding stock now? I'm not sure I hate the idea if they all look like Anna, Ryan, Lisa, & Marcus.

I am liking the new Erica baby angle. With Tyler possibly the first hybrid. splainy loty.

Please, no more of Tyler and Lisa making out. I threw up in my mouth a little. Half-alien or not he's still an annoying little twerp.

I think Josh is faking his memory loss and remembers everything, especially with the way he looked after Lisa left the room. Damn, what a hottie he is.

Chad will sell out the Fifth Column in a second.

Jane Badler!! And dressed to the nines even with being held captive by Anna. Her hair didn't get messed up at all.

Well, he is Bret Harrison from Reaper. The guy can do comedy/action pretty well, if the writers can write him something good. I actually have high hopes for him.

Eh, very, very few people who watch the show actually come here. I liked this ep. I think it showed that TPTB are trying to give us what we want. We had the Visitors showing off their wild, alien side--tails, claws, weird eyes, skeleton, etc. We had a expedited explanation of what the red rain is and how it's important to the V's plans. We had a bit of intrigue--Chad's alleged quest for redemption, Diana, Joshua's possible amnesia, a possible explanation for why Tyler is the way he is, Marcus's creepy little smile and Anna's atypical upset at being interrupted when saying goodbye to her babes and then when being forced to pull the plug on them to save face. Not bad for the first hour.

I love that guy! That was his only scene, too, wasn't it? I was waiting for him, and then I went to the fridge, and when I came back, his scene was ending! So they gave him the old amnesia storyline? I bet he does remember, and just doesn't know if he can trust Lisa, which is a good call.

Touche. They both use their kids but I'm more willing to forgive Erica. She could put Tyler into harms way in every way possible and I wouldn't care. Lisa is actually likeable and is redeemable. She's actually trying to save Earth. Tyler is just trying to get laid.

Loved it!

Erica and Jack even got a little moment alone to talk. I can't be the only one who smiled an went, "Yay! He's learned from last season!" when he commented about Anna now having something to hold over Ryan's head.

And now Chad is the fifth Column mole. I did like that Jack was still clearly not happy with Chad after the events of Red Sky, but that, once they saw he had turned on Anna, they were willing to use him. My fear lies in the fact that he’ll crumple like a paper cup if Anna leans on him.

Am I the only one who got really squicked out by Anna basically pimping Lisa out to Tyler and then watching. Ick. I mean, sure, Erica used Tyler to get up onto the ship, but didn’t go and order him to go bone the alien princess.

Yay! Joshua’s back…oh, boo about his memory being wiped. My little shipper heart smiled when Lisa hurried off to find him once she knew he was alive and she looked so happy when she took his hand…and so sad when he didn’t remember. I hope he’s working an angle.

Oh yeah, I’m excited for this season!!

I thought their whole purpose in coming to earth was to use us as food (OK, that was the reason in the original version). Wouldn't it be gross to eat hybrids? Yes, I know that Anna devoured the soldier after mating with him, but I saw that like what happens when Praying Mantis mate and only under those circumstances, so not a viable food source. Or is the phosphorus to help us be more fertile and breed more amongst ourselves?

Interesting that Diana lives not in a sterile environment, but in a stank, swampy place (though dressed to the nines I noticed).

Are we to presume that by Anna turning off the monitoring for her six soldier children that she's letting them die?

Do you think Anna knows that Tyler is a hybrid and that's why she's so adamant about he and Lisa getting together? Because why the hell else would he be so important?

I just remembered that there will be only 10 episodes this season. God, that sucks.

Wow! The earthlings were WAAAAAYYY to accepting of Anna's explanation of Red Sky. I don't care how much they wanted to believe what she's saying, the sky raining red is never a good thing. Maybe Anna has some swamp land in the Crab Nebula they might want to but also.

Special effects are nice, and it was great to see Tyler's face collapse in the opening (before those bastards took it back!), but I feel like I still don't know any of these characters. It's like the writers see them as pawns, and move them from point A to point B, but don't really tell us much about them. The only one I felt like I kinda knew was Val, and that's mostly because her face showed an ironic sense of humor in that "I could eat this rat!" scene.

But there's Father Jack, a priest, and all he does is say things like, "The Visitors' presence could make people think there isn't a god." What a myopic, political, reductionist way of looking at aliens landing on earth! The writers need to make these characters react like real human beings!

My favorite part was the protest that Erica and Tyler had to walk through. Those people had signs to protest the fucking sky! And then Anna tells them it's healing the environment, with no proof whatsoever, and everyone immediately starts smiling and is happy again! Yay! I just want people to behave like people would.

I think the phosphorus is needed to help them reproduce with us. I also think it's to help with their food supply. If earth is a giant supermarket to the aliens then the Vs are going to need more help in stocking the shelves. The Vs on the ships seem to be mostly white collar Vs. I'm guessing Anna needs more down-to-earth Vs to turn the millions of humans into jerky and spam. Plus, making all those pesky, stubborn humans into pantry staples frees up all that acreage to let other critters repopulate and run around as fresh, organic, free range snacks.
