A place to discuss the past, present and future roles of the TVD cast.

Did anyone else see Malese Jow in "The Social Netork"? Big ups to her for landing that.

The only people from the cast that I recognized when the show started were: Nina who played the super annoying Mia on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and Matt Davis who is, of course, Walter Huntington III in "Legally Blond." I never watched "Lost" (I know, I know) so I didn't know who Ian was, never watched "90210" so I'd never seen Michael and even though I thought I watched every episode of "American Dreams" I can't remember seeing Paul on it or what character he played.

Oh and I just realized the other day that the girl who played Vanessa, Isobel's research assistance, played Trinity's daughter on Dexter.

I also remember Somerhalder from making out with Dawson in The Rules of Attraction and brother fucking Jason Ritter on Law & Order SVU.

Paul Wesley was Tommy Callahan on Everwood.

Matt Davis was also in the movie Blue Crush. I'm such a dork, but I'm completely in love with that movie.

Amester, you might be thinking of "Young Americans", not "American Dreams".

YA was a very shortlived prep-school drama from 2000 remembered by me mostly because a scene was shot at the drive in theater near where I lived at the time and I got to be a mute, unpaid extra! Yea, me! lol

I don't recall if I saw IS or not; if I did, I guess he didn't make an impression on me!

Paul Wesley played Donnie in The OC. He was a waiter at the restaurant where Ryan got a part time job (season 1 x epi 5), who pulled a gun at a party with all the snooty OC kids.

I watched (ok suffered ) all of Young Americans online this summer to see Ian...I think he had work done on his ears. They used to stick out quite a bit...

I think the funniest "oh, hey, it's that guy from tvd" moment for me was last year when the final season of 24 premiered and I realized Paul was Jack's son-in-law. He'd been in before, but I hadn't put the two together. And I immediately thought that Kim could use a vampire husband for protection! heh

Kelly Hu recently tweeted that she was coming back to Hawaii to film a second episode of "Hawaii 5-0", so she'll be in ep 6 and ep 8, at least so far.

Considering how completely smitten I am with Ian Somerhalder at the moment, I find it funny how unconcerned I was with Boone on Lost. I never made it past like episode nine of Lost, so I didn't see the big death scene, but still, interesting. The one thing I took with me from watching the first few episodes of TVD, and the thing that compelled (hmm...no pun intended) me to rent the DVDs was IS's performance.

Matt Davis also played in Lone Star State of Mind with Joshua Jackson. He was the best friend, Jimbo. I love that movie, but not everyone does.

Paul Wesley was Tommy Callahan on Everwood.

Yeah, when I realised who he was, I was all, "Oh, it's Eyebrows!" I like him better as Stefan, but I was one of the few people I know who didn't mind Eyebrows all that much back then.

Steven R McQueen was also on Everwood for a bit - he played troubled piano prodigy Kyle in the last season. It kind of amuses me, because when they shot his episodes there I think he actually was about the age Jeremy is supposed to be now, and looking back on those episodes he was so tiny!

Loved Ian S's dancing in Rules of Attraction - worth the price of entry alone, and rewatched Xmen2 the other day and relaised the awesome Kelly Hu was Lady Deathstrike. She is so kickass, I really wish they hadn't killed Pearl.

If you want to see Kelly Hu kick Ian Somerhalder's ass, go rent The Tournament. Apparently, they became good friends after doing this movie.

Kelly & Ian both did a good job in the Tournament, which is a mediocre "pass the time" action movie...

Ian also has a small role in Life as a House starring Kevin Kline, Kristin Scott Thomas & Hayden Christensen, which is a good movie, I must say...

As for TV, apart from Lost & Young Americans, he is also well-known for his role in Tell Me You Love Me, thanks to do nude sex scenes... And he also starred in Marco Polo.

Paul Wesley also starred in the ABC Family mini-series Fallen, in which he played a fallen angel.

Ian Somerhalder was also featured in a Smallville arc of at least a half dozen episodes early on in the series. He played a mysterious kid, and I briefly thought that his character might turn out to be Batman one day, but that didn't happen. He was a patient in a physical rehabilitation hospital where Lana Lang was sent after she was crushed in some accident that Clark somehow caused. He and Lana became friends and when he was released he moved to Smallville to be close to her. He had some type of mysterious past and turned out to be a genetic meteoric rock mutant in some way, and ultimately died.

One weekend I was sick so I had a Lifetime Movie Marathon on my couch and saw Nina Dobrev in a movie called My Daughter's Secret. She played a girl whose boyfriend robbed her mother's jewelry store. To say that her acting has improved since then...would be an understatement.

Ha, Bianca Lawson was in a Nikita episode (2-3 weeks ago?). Predictably, having a minor role still let her showcase weak acting chops. At least she played a character her age, unlike Pretty Little Liars and possibly TVD too.

I heart this movie so much, reminds me of my childhood: Paul Wesley was also in a movie called Roll Bounce as one of two head minions of the local rollerskating god in a mid-to-late 1970s city. I am so not kidding about that description, lol.

Single dad with two kids, one of them, the teen boy, is an awesome roller skater; their local rink closes down so he and his crew start going to the rink across town, which is dominated by Sweetness and HIS crew, who are the best rollerskaters there. I though Paul Wesley was hilarious in his small role, every time I see Roll Bounce is on I try to watch it. :)

This was the last (new) episode, 1x05, I believe. The funny thing, her character on Nikita was named Emily, which is obviously a Shout Out to TVD :)
Oh, and she also was on Buffy as Kendra, but I'm sure everyone knows this already (and if not, they should).

I was giggling when Logan Scumbag Fells showed up on The Good Guys, playing essentially the same role as on TVD. Including the intention to go away to a beach somewhere, getting a tan.

I've been rewatching Friday Night Lights, and was surprised when Matt popped up on screen in the role of Cash, Tyra's rodeo cowboy boyfriend. He was in a good number of episodes in FNL Season 3. He played a character very different from Matt Donovan who was not a particularly nice guy, and much more colorful than Matt Donovan.

Just watching Charmed and saw that Michael Trevino was in episode 2 of season 8, minor role just as a teenage kid who gets lured by a demon but his hotness has definately improved since then!

How in the world does Bianca Lawson keep getting parts? She's really not a very good actress. It's like she's the Tori Spelling of the CW or something.

I didn't think she was that bad. The big thing on Buffy was that the accent was so specific that it overwhelmed the performance. I thought she was purposefully enigmatic as Emily on TVD and she was just a saintly cannon fodder love interest on Nikita where the whole point is that she was bland yet good, not complex. I'm waiting to cast judgment until she gets a long-term role somewhere.

She is bad enough in PLL though. Ok, it could be argued that she is not that bad or that she just isn't right for the role or that the writing is not doing her any favors, or any number of things really. But the point is that she constantly is, at best, dull and/or justifiably bad.

I'm catching up on the first season of The Mentalist, and I just spotted Michael Trevino in one of the episodes, in the usual "bad boy in leather jacket" role he always seems to play. Not much of a difference from Tyler, actually... he even had the "falls for older women" thing going for him!

I just watched "Chloe" and Nina Dobrev has a small role as the girlfriend of Julianna Moore and Liam Neeson's son. She was only in a few scenes but still very cool that she got to work with Julianne Moore.

Michael Trevino had a role as this scummy jock who gets Columbined at the mall on an episode of Cold Case. I remember taking notice of him at that point. He was one of the few good things about the 90210 re-boot. I'm glad he got out of the show into something better.

I watched a clip of Ian Somerhalder on Law And Order: SVU. It's kinda amazing how different he looks- the face is much fuller now, and also much more animated. I agree that he probably had work on his ears done- he looks markedly different by the SVU episode as compared to Young Americans, which was filmed in 1999. The mustache and goatee was pretty hot on him, though.

Isobel/Mia Kirshner has been around so much(she's actually 35 years old- I thought she was more like Ian and Matt's ages), that you can't really begin to list all of her roles. She's best known for playing the lesbian Jenny on the L-Word, who apparently was REALLY annoying. I remember her best for playing Katherine, the cruelest girl in school on Not Another Teen Movie. She parodied SMG's Cruel Intentions role quite brilliantly- there were moments when Mia NAILED Sarah Michelle's Katherine voice. Another notable role she had was playing a teenage stripper in Exotica back in the 90's- I remember the scene with her dressed up as a schoolgirl while dancing to "Everybody Knows" by Concrete Blonde.

Finally...Paul Wesley generally played the bad characters from what I remember. It's been odd seeing him play the hero.
