Hello, and welcome to the new forum. There are a few additional rules for shows with expanded forums.
  • The only thing on topic in each episode thread is that episode itself. Posting about previous episodes, or previews, or spoilers is not allowed there.
  • Spoilers need to go in the spoiler thread, and spoiler bars should not be used there.
  • Historical information isn't a spoiler. For example, if you're discussing the end of Prohibition or the life of a real-life character, you don't need spoiler bars.
  • Discussion of previews should go in the Speculation thread.
  • If you're posting in an episode thread, please read the entire thread first, even if it's more than 15 pages long. The 15/15 rule still holds in all other threads.
I’ll be starting the episode thread and adding a few other threads in the next few days. Feel free to start any threads you may like; if I don’t think they’ll work for this forum, I’ll delete them. Please follow the TWoP formula of Thread Title: Snarky Description, though, and make sure your first post has some substance to it. In other words, please don’t just start the thread and say, "Discuss."

That’s all for now, thanks.

Hello TWoP Howard :-) Edited: Well gosh, if I'd just kept looking, I'd have found my answer which is exactly what happened. So, never mind, but thanks!

The Paris Green thread has become a discussion on Angela. Can it be moved to the Angela thread. I don't want to take a chance of getting in trouble when posting a reply.

If you want to respond to something in the episode at greater length in a character thread, you can quote the post you want to respond to in the episode thread and say, "I’m responding to this in the Character Thread." Then you can repost the quote, and respond to that specific subject.

I was surprised not to see a recap for "Paris Green" before the airing of "A Return to Normalcy." Are they going to be done jointly?

I don’t know any more than you do about that, sorry to say. I assume the "Paris Green" recap is just a little late.

I’ve emailed Editorial about the missing recap, and they’re looking into it.

Okay, the recap for "Paris Green" is now up.

Can you clarify the policy of not talking about the boards on boards? Am I allowed to discuss any of the things I see on the frontpage like TWOP's predictions for the Golden Globes? And if so, where?

Sorry for the late reply. No, you could discuss the predictions in the Media thread as long as you are discussing the article, and not making comments about the person who wrote it. So "I agree/disagree that something or other will happen" is okay. "The author must be crazy to think that…" is not okay. Even though the awards are history, the same would apply to any of the non-recap pieces on the main page.

How might I get a request in to the TwoP PTB for many more Lady Lola Recaps for BE S2?

Having recently re-read her S1 Ep10 'cap... so comprehensive/so good, want to put in a request somewhere for more of that, but not sure where.

You can send an email to TWoPeditorial@nbcuni.com. That will go to the editors of the front page and the site director. You can also send an email to Lady Lola herself at lrb2126@gmail.com (although I’m not certain if that’s a current address).

You can find some general contact info in the FAQ, where there’s a section for it. There’s also a link to that section at the bottom of every page, on the right, way under the ad, in small print (not that asking in here wasn’t fine, too).

Ok, I just emailed TWoPeditorial@nbcuni.com & Lady Lola lrb2126@gmail.com. Tried to make the emails short & sweet- just requested more Lady Lola BE S2 Recaps. If it's alright with you, TWoP Howard, I'll relay any pertinent replies I receive.

ETA: The gist of the email I received from TWoP Editorial is that they're happy to hear I enjoyed Lady Lola's BE work, appreciate the input, etc., but haven't yet made any decisions on S2. Gist of Lady Lola's emails is that she'd love to do any BE recaps that come her way (nice to find out that LL also does 30 Rock!). She did call the idea of writing more BE 'caps "Nuckylicious," so that's certainly in the positive column.

Delurking to ask that since the Emmy nominations are going to be announced tomorrow, would it be OK to start an Awards thread just for discussion about the show's award nominations, wins and/or losses?

I thought I’d ask to see if we could get a separate sub-forum for the characters. If we get the okay, we’ll need a clever blurb for the character sub-forum. Any thoughts?

On the theory that the best titles are build, not spring out already formed, I'll kick things off with a few ideas that might spark some else's imagination.

Boardwalk Nation
Boardwalk Nationals
Boardwalk Internationals

It's not much, but it's a start. (Or maybe I'm not understanding the concept of Blurb here?)

I like those for the overall name of the sub-forum, rather than something generic like "Boardwalk Empire Characters." The blurb can be a full sentence or two. Check out the blurb for this forum, just as an example.

I was toying around with Guys and Dolls, or Empire Builders and Lawmen, but I’m not crazy about either of those, or both together. Or Makers of Gin, Drinkers of Gin, and…? Tormented Lawmen? Teetotalers? Haters of Gin? Substituting Demon Rum for Gin might be better.

Anyway, more ideas to play with.

Hummm. From your ideas, how about...

Empire Builders, Backers, Hijackers and Whackers
From big bosses to hit men to collateral damage. Discuss the rum runners, the teetotalers and everyone in between.

Maybe you can build on that?

I don’t know, I like that as it is! I figured I’d wait until mid-month to ask if we can have the forum, so we’ve got some time to let ideas percolate.

Whoa. When did Lady Lola's recap of "Battle of the Century" go up? I must be totally out of the swing of things 'cap-wise this week!

And btw, another great recap, Lady Lola!

I think it was Monday morning, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The forums stay open and the recappers write, but the staff who edit and post the recaps onto the site get the days off and had a backlog waiting for them on Monday.

Is there a place to discuss topics that are indirectly related to the show? I was thinking a thread to discuss books, or films that are similar to the show, or that have an historical value. Thanks.

Go ahead and use the Boardwalk Empire vs. the Sopranos thread for that. There aren’t many posts in it, so that says to me that the topic could be broadened. I’ll change the title in some way to reflect that (and I’m open to suggestions, too). Thanks for asking.
