The multicamera "Melissa & Joey," starring and executive produced by Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, centers on a political dynasty wild child-turned-politician (Hart) who takes in her teenage niece and pre-adolescent nephew when her sister goes to prison and her brother-in-law flees. She turns for help to a guy (Lawrence), who, desperate for a job, moves in and becomes the family's "manny."
On his Twitter, Joey Lawrence described it as being a 2010 version of "Who's the Boss" crossed with "Moonlighting," which is basically what the synopsis sounds like.
I used to be a die-hard "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" fan back in the day (I know, I'm lame,) so I hope the show is interesting. On the other hand, I've lost a lot of the good will that I had for Melissa Joan Hart over the past 7 years since "Sabrina" ended. After she made blatantly homophobic remarks on her Myspace (the link posts what she said verbatim,) and said really tactless things about Farrah Fawcett's death, I've lost a lot of the respect that I had for her. Obviously she's entitled to her own beliefs and her personal life has no bearing on the show, but it does the affect the way that I see her now. Still, I'll check out the first few episodes of this new show - people who have gone to the tapings have said that it starts out slow, but that it gets better over time.
On a much more positive note, Melissa and Joey both look pretty good in the trailer for the show -- although the writing leaves a bit to be desired. Seriously, I think this is the best Melissa has looked in many years (in the final season of "Sabrina," she had noticeably put on weight and the producers put her in these ridiculous outfits that were way too small for her.) The costumes she's wearing on this show seem to be much more flattering.
