Lost Summer Rewatch: What Happened Happened...Again

I really hope some of you are willing to join in me in raving about and/or snarking on the series all over again.
I was assuming we'd rewatch the episodes in chronological order, but more creative ideas are very welcome (For example, as I saw mentioned on another thread, voting on our top 25 favorite episodes and watching only those; watching episodes according to themes or which characters they focus on, like watching our favorite Jack-centric episodes in a row and then our favorite Sawyer-centric episodes in a row...etc.). When should we start? About how many episodes per week should we schedule? And is it sad that I already miss this show to such a deep degree? (Feel free not to answer that last one!)

I was going to put a list of all the unanswered question that fans seem to have and try and see if I can get answers via a a rewatch. So I'll join your rewatch in this thread.

I like themes! My Ben list, let me show you it! Is there a way to do them without missing any episodes and not having to rewatch the same ones for multiple themes, though?

I do think that while some characters' episodes would overlap and some episodes might not be centered around any one character clearly enough for us to categorize, most episodes would still be covered. And, yes, I would love to see your Ben list, whether we watch the episodes chronologically, according to which character they're centered around or otherwise!
Someone more math-oriented than I am---a group that generally includes everyone on the planet over the age of five---can feel free to correct me, but I'm thinking we'll have to do at least a few episodes per week to complete S1-S5 before the S6 DVDs are released. Which I'm more than willing to do, but if people think it's too hectic and rushed, we can just select highlights/favorites instead!

What's the best way to select 25? A site poll?

Should I ask TWoP Mars to set up a poll allowing us to vote for either "rewatching the whole series" or "rewatching only our consensus favorites"? Or should the sadly few of us who will be participating just decide here in this thread?!
As I've said, I'd prefer a series rewatch, if only because 1) Starting from the beginning and watching chronologically will allow potential Newbies to join us, while jumping around from one favorite to the next might confuse viewers first checking out the show and 2) in my little world, a greater number of LOST episodes is always preferable to fewer LOST episode!
Again, though, I'm more than happy to do whatever you all prefer. I would love to start viewing next week, if at all possible.

Though I'm for an entire rewatch, because each episode is full of nuggets. I remember rewatching the third or fourth episode where Jack says they need to burn the bodies in the fuselage, and Kate goes, "You can't burn them! They're people!" which is hilarious in retrospect now that I know what her original crime was. Something I also just remembered is how in Boone's drug-induced vision, Shannon disappeared and then a few minutes later he saw her body laid out on a rock in the stream in EXACTLY the same way that Brother and Jack appeared laid out on the rock before they died (possibly the same stream?). A selective rewatch would miss little things like that.

I've already gone back and watched a few episodes, and I found it very rewarding.

I'm down for watching the whole series in order, five episodes a week. We could start on Monday with eps 1-5.
What do you guys think?

At the moment only two come to mind:
Ben to Hurley : "You know that those crackers are 15 years old!"
While Charlie was going through Sawyers' stash in his tent: "Everyone needs...Shocking amounts of pornography"
There are many more but can't remember them right now.

I already miss the show.
Oh, me too, me too. Is it normal to feel such devastation about a T.V. show?
It'll be pretty interesting to rewatch now that we know what happens. Perhaps we can spot some in jokes or more ironies. This depends if I can get my hands on some dvds.

Ooh. I wonder if I can do them in almost chronological order--watch "A Tale of Two Cities", for example, before Henry Gale (did you know he's from Minnesota?) appears...Off to find a time line...

Gee, I just can't relate. ;) (Says the woman who's gone through six Kleenex boxes of post-finale sobbing...and is typing this on a computer with Vincent as the desktop background...while wearing a LOST T-shirt...and listening to the S4 LOST soundtrack...)
Who decides?
I'm an even more screwed-up leader than Early Seasons Jack, so hopefully not me. ;) Seriously, it sounds like most people are in favor of the full series rewatch, so unless there are strenuous objections, I say we proceed with that!
So, assuming we're all in for the full series rewatch...:
1) I'd love to start next week. Does Monday work as the day to kick off our grand rewatch with The Pilot?
2) I know someone suggested covering five episodes per week. I'd definitely be up for that, but is that too many episodes per week for people to watch and subsequently discuss? There are no strict guidelines, obviously....people will feel free to happily discuss earlier episodes even after the group rewatch has moved on to later episodes, but I'm just wondering if five episodes per week would be too frenetic a pace.
3) Would people prefer to post right in this thread, our cozy new cyber-home, or to bump up each individual thread when it's time to watch it?!
Once we decide how many episodes per week to schedule (see above rambling), I'll ask our lovely moderator to pin the schedule so that it's immediately accessible to all who venture in here.

And yes, add me to the chorus of those in withdrawal. I actually started emotionally distancing myself from the last episodes of the series, because I knew it was going to be such a bummer when I no longer had Lost and the TWOP discussion of Lost to look forward to every week.

I think we should probably bump the episode threads, just so we can keep focused on each individual episode, as opposed to the clump of them.

I can not wait to have my hands on the box set, but I think there's always Hulu. I really missed out on seeing the show with others for a good deal of the series, and hope this will be as good a substitute as anything. :)
I think talking about the rewatched episodes would be good here, and wanted to know...are we supposed to start on Monday, or have the first episode done on Monday for discussion. (This sounds an awful lot like school.) :)

Further complication: season premieres and finales were frequently 2 episodes stuck together--are we doing them separately or as one longer episode?
I'd prefer to discuss them here rather than the episode threads if that's OK with the Mods. Now that the series is over and we're looking back for connections, it would be difficult and sort of self-defeating to have to stick strictly to the episode without reference to other episodes, as we are required to do in the existing episode threads. When the forum is compressed in a few weeks, the episode threads will go away anyway, yes?

Excellent point! Part of what's so thrilling and interesting about the rewatch will be connecting and comparing those earlier events and characterizations to what we now six seasons later know to be true, so the single episode threads might indeed be too confining. A more general rewatch thread like this one will allow for far more series-spanning discussion and flexibility. Great call.
This sounds an awful lot like school.) :)
Whoever comes up with the comments and analysis that will finally allow me to like or at least tolerate Kate through most of the series gets an automatic A+!
When the forum is compressed in a few weeks, the episode threads will go away anyway, yes?
...and then there's that not insignificant point as well. Yup, I think we should get comfortable in here, because it looks like this thread will be our rewatch home!
4 or 5 a week is good by me. Ms. Taken, can we set a deadline like Monday @noon Eastern or something for beginning the discussion? If someone can't watch by then, they can join when they're ready?
Sounds great to me. So buy or dig out your DVDs, visit the wonderful world of hulu, or recruit the cast to generously reenact the Pilot for you personally in your own backyard...however you choose to see it, be ready to start sharing your thoughts this Monday at noon! (*cracks open a Dharma beer to celebrate*)
