TVByTheNumbers has some ratings info on the new season so far:

March 21, 2010 No Mas 1.2/2 0.9/2 1.954
March 28, 2010 Caballo Sin Nombre 1.0/2 0.7/2 1.545
April 4, 2010 I.F.T. 0.8/1 0.6/2 1.327

Looks like it's been falling. Hopefully that stops. Anyone know what the numbers looked like this time last season?

TVByTheNumbers reports that as of 4/17 the show is rumored to have been renewed.

Also, here's the rating chart updated through "Mas." It looks like things evened out.

Still not confirmed, but looking hopeful!

I'm glad the ratings are doing much better after the last 2-3 episodes.

If the show is renewed fairly soon, does anyone know how long it will take before we get another season? The gap last time was interminably long!

I'm sure it must be money issues - don't know why the don't get the go ahead. They seem to have plenty of money for MM - why not Breaking Bad!!!!!! Come on Sony & AMC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did they have to schedule the finale of Lost for tonight!? I always watch programs that air after 9 pm the next day, but I don't know whether to start with Breaking Bad or Lost on Monday. Lost is 2 1/2 hours, so maybe I should start with BB. Decisions decisions....

I feel for BB - there is also Celebrity Apprentice on tonight - but I'm sure I'll watch BB - especially with all the buzz about this episode from the podcast. I've tried to follow Lost, but never kept up - that would be a show I would enjoy in a marathon except its so friggen long.

Didn't realize it was going to be 2 &1/2 hrs long tonight or I would have suggested watching BB at 11:00.
Wow that's a long "wrap up" show.

I was double-checking my DVR recording schedule and saw that BB wasn't set up for tonight. I don't know why that sometimes happens, though this is a first for BB. Then I discovered that the new ep is on the HD channel at 7:00, again at 8:00, then again at 10:00. I keep forgetting that I get HD channels, so I don't usually check this. Does anyone know if this is the norm?

Is there any word about a season four? During the show tonight, they kept advertising 'The last 3 episodes of Breaking Bad'.

Can anyone clarify what's going on with the schedule for tonight? My understanding was that the extra time was for the sneak peek of "Rubicon," which is to air at 11PM, after the finale is done, but a lot of people remain convinced that our episode for tonight is extended. What's up?

ReadIshmael, that is what I understand too. From zap2it

AMC is previewing the pilot for "Rubicon," a conspiracy drama starring James Badge Dale ("The Pacific"), at 11 p.m. ET Sunday (June 13), following the season finale of "Breaking Bad."

I'm pretty sure that the finale is 1 hour 47 minutes tonight. There's a 15 minute sneak peak of Rubicon tomorrow morning and then several times in the days after that. It premieres August 1.

I've seen conflicting info too, and it is confusing. But from TV by the numbers,

Update: the reason the first airing isn’t yet showing up is because it’s such a “sneak” preview that it’s included in the Breaking Bad season finale — which lists as an hour and 47 minutes long. The Breaking Bad finale is 47 minutes with limited commercial interruptions. The rest is the sneak preview of Rubicon.

If they're allowing us to see it, watching it really isn't sneaky, or a preview.

The finale is 48 minutes long according to Alan Sepinwall, who has actually seen it. So there. Also, yes, the entire Rubicon pilot will air afterwards; why else do you think that AMC opened their Rubicon talk forum yesterday? They want people to discuss what they saw.

I don't think it's official yet, but Vince has recently stated that the show isn't slated to return until July 2011. July! That's a whole year to wait! Nooooo!

I really hope that doesn't end up happening! I wonder why? Seasons 2 and 3 both started in March, so why would we have to wait an entire year this time? Ugh.

Maybe someone(s) in the cast or crew has another project going that will delay BB, though I would think that BB takes precedence.

Maybe this will somehow give them a longer shooting schedule. I think they've said multiple times that they shoot an episode in a week. I know that would mean a larger budget, but hopefully the show has proved that they're worth the extra money.

I think AMC made that decision - they schedule the shows. I'm sure filming will be done in the same amount of time - at least the writers have more time to prepare.

I'd be willing to bet that AMC is planning some sort of "Super Summer" next year with BB and Mad Men back-to-back on Sunday nights. Mad Men has always been shown from July to October, and now, I bet they're going to piggy back both shows for a Sunday night tour-de-force to try and challenge HBO. I know which channel I'll be watching!

What concerns me is how starting so late will effect the show's eligibility for next year's Emmys. I think the last couple episodes of this season aired late enough that the show'd still sort of be in the running, but it could seriously damage their award momentum, leading me to think that if the show and Aaron don't get their Emmys this year, they might not ever.

ReadIshmael, now that's a scary prospect. If they indeed air it in July next year, they may not even qualify, or they will be looking at Season 3 again. Either way, they will definitely lose the momentum the show is building here. Uh oh.

Last night's ratings are in. Per Hollywood Reporter:

Sunday night’s Season 4 premiere collected 2.6 million total viewers, setting a series high and improving upon its March 2010 Season 3 bow by 30 percent.

Bryan Cranston comfirms split season. AMC and Sony have yet to weigh in, but I expect that Bryan's right. And I don't mind. I have a couple of reservations, mostly about having another long-ass hiatus to wait through, but also about whether the first set of 8 episodes will be a high-quality season by themselves, considering the slow-build the show usually employs. On the whole, though, I approve. I'm not ready for the show to be over, for one, and I love the idea of getting two more years of awards eligibility to build the show's legacy. Also, I'm relieved to hear that there'd be a production break between the two halves, because otherwise the dangers of real, serious spoilers would be very high.

If they're going to do it that way, why don't they just call it Season 5 and Season 6? I consider a split season to be 2-3 months between new episodes, max. But that's just me. I'll be glad to have the show back.

I read somewhere that there is some legal/contractual/financial reason for doing it the way they're calling it.

Possibly some of the key people are contractually committed for only x number of seasons or have some escalation clause if the show runs for more than x seasons, for example.
