Congratulations. DWTS just held a lottery for one non-famous person to compete on the show. You won. You get to pick your pro.

Who is it?

I'm tempted to go with Derek because I think he's the best overall package of instructor, choreographer, and dancer. But he's twenty years younger and I think we'll look silly. So I'll go with Maks, because my attitude can keep him in line. Really. ;-)

I would pick Chelsie. She has great choreography and I think we'd click well and she's one of the shorter female pros and i'm not exactly super tall, so I think it'd be a good partnership.

Shouldn't this go in the Whimsy section?

I'd probably pick Jonathan. I would definitely need the patient, slow-and-steady approach that he tends to use. Louis might be good, except his personality seems a little too intense for me. That wouldn't be very good for my nerves.

I'm pretty sure I'd clash horribly with Tony. And if I were paired up with Maks, Derek, or Mark, I probably wouldn't be able to go one lesson without wanting to smack my pro upside the head. Just sayin', heh.

I'm a guy. Despite being 6'3", I'd take Anna in a slight win over Julianne. Assuming Charlotte's not available, that is.

I'd pick Anna or Kym. Kym is the best at teaching technique, but Anna is best at motivating her students, I think (besides, I'd like to think that I could surprise her by actually preferring to work even harder than she does!)

Cheryl, Chelsie, or Julianne would be difficult for me; I'd feel as though I were taking lessons from my daughter (since I'm nearly twice Cheryl's age.) And as lovely a person as Edyta is, she's just not that good at teaching technique, in my opinion. On the other hand, I sure as hell wouldn't make her cry -- Aiden.

Maks (because from what I have heard from someone I know that has taken a lesson with Maks is that he is really patient & kind when giving lessons etc) & from what I've seen so far Damian on the men's side. If I got a lesson from the women it would be Kym or Chelsie.

I'd love Louis, but he's shorter than me. :( Probably Dmitry or Derek, honestly. I'd need a confidence boost and someone with a lot of patience, for sure.

No contest for me - it'd have to be Cheryl. Great teacher, great choreographer, and I'd trust her to do whatever she could to minimize my chances of making a fool out of myself on the dance floor.

If I could choose, I'd take Julianne or Chelsie or Anna, in that order. And I promise I would never claim that either one of them feels like a 'sister'......:)

Louis-I think he'd be good to work with, and since I'm short, anyone too tall would make me look like I belong on one of TLC's "Little People" shows.

Ooh, I like this (and so wish DWTS would actually do it). I'd say overall I'd probably be most compatible with Derek. He seems like a perfect combination of focused and dorktastic. He also seems to really understand how to showcase and enhance his partners' strengths and minimize/hide their weaknesses. Although in heels I think we might be a little too close in height.

Now, if they picked one of us lowly real people to learn and perform just one dance of their choosing, I would pick an Argentine Tango with Dmitry, hands down.

Oh, that makes it even harder, as there are two dances that I've always wanted to learn: Quickstep and Paso Doble. I think I'd probably still go with either Anna or Kym, depending on which dance I was allowed to choose (decisions, decisions!)

I adore Jonathan and feel bad that he usually gets crappy partners. I also like Maks because he cracks me up!

Quickstep and Paso Doble would be my favorites too. If I had to pick just one, I'd pick the Paso and grab Derek or Maks to teach it. If I were male, I'd pick Cheryl in a heartbeat.

I would definetly want Maks or Anna (if I was a male) as a teacher. No real reason but I just like both of them.

Definitely Cheryl - though her tough love approach might scare me, one way or another I'd end up a good dancer! Then Anna T- or if I'm being greedy, Cheryl for the Latin dances, Anna for the standard!

I'd also love to be taught by Maks or Louis. Louis is such a creative choreographer and seems like a very supportive teacher.

I'm not sure I could be in the same room as Derek or Mark for more than about 5 minutes before I got the urge to hit them.

Agree with libraoct - Maks is my first choice. Tony would be my second. If I was a man, I'd pick Anna. Cheryl would be my second choice. If I was anywhere near Mark or (worse) Corky, I would want to kill him with my stiletto.

So, who besides me would pick Tristan for his or her pro? I'd pick him easily, if I were a woman or if same-sex partnering were allowed. He's got the same laid-back, patient approach to teaching that Jonathan had, along with Kym's talent in choreography. I'd love to learn the Paso Doble or the Quickstep from him (the Rumba? That's a whole other fantasy! ;-) )

Tristan for sure, Damian also. Maks or Mark, not a prayer. Derek if I'm egotistical and want to win.

Love this idea. My lottery would be with Tristan. OMG. I would kick Mark in his ball(a)s. I think Derek would be nice but if I don't get things quickly, and sometimes I don't in dance, I would feel his wratch, I'm afraid.

Maks might be okay - I would cry the first time and then give back as good as I get from him. And oh to touch his posterior bum.

But, seriously, Tristan.

If it was same-sex? Anna. Hands down. Unless it could be Kym. She is sweet and fun and can win competitions as well.

There were go. Let's email them and make it happen - be funny to extend the conceit of this whimsy and say, you also get a cheering section - who's cheering section would you want? Football players, actors, etc.? The Arquettes, Lukas Haas, and Paul Reubens was an interesting mix - I think I'd go with them. So, I pick David. But David has to be cheering me on too! :)

That's like my dream right there!

Oh I didn't know we got to choose same-sex partners too. I honestly think I'd pick Karina. She seems like such fun. I love how she cheers for the others in the group dance rehearsals, like the way she was helping Nancy with the lift and cheering for her when she did it. If I was dead-set on winning or looking my best at the dance, I'd pick Cheryl.

Although I love Tristan, I think I'd develop too much of a crush to concentrate!

I think I would enjoy working with Val, who seems like an overall sweet kid, and if you could get him over his own sexpot image, he'd be a lot of fun to work with.

But I would probably get put with Mark, as I'm only 5'.

So, whom would everyone pick to get a lesson from out of the new pros?

From what I've seen of her, I wouldn't have any problem at all picking Sharna to be my pro. She strikes me as being the female Tristan: she's patient, she knows how to choreograph fun, entertaining routines that stay within the rules, and she has a knack for not only bringing out the best in her students, but making them likable as well. It also doesn't hurt that she's easy on the eyes (and I'm saying that as a gay man)!

Sharna. She's so smart, gorgeous dancer, firm and patient and centered. She impresses the hell out of me.
