Holy shit, Grandma Adama is hardcore.

Also, PR Kat and Cyrus goggling at one another during the Graystones interview was kind of adorable.

Yay! Zoe's mom lives! I was hoping neither Adama would go through with it. I also loved how the talk show went. When both Greystones started being honest instead of using the PR people's ideas, the interview actually helped their position. I also loved Zoe's dancing with the tech geek. I admit, I thought the whole change of point of view between AvatarZoe's perspective and the Cylon's perspective would get old, but I'm still digging the juxtaposition.

This show is definitely keeping me interested.

Holy shit, Grandma Adama is hardcore.

Yeah, she sure isn't a sweet little old lady. I guess that explains the whole Tauron mob connections. It's funny how Sam, the contract killer, is more merciful than the old lady.

This show is everything that was great about BSG.
And Sasha Roiz/Sam is the most appealing villain ever. James Marsters/Spike, surrender the gold.

And loving the relationship of A-Zoe and Geek Guy.

And the Graystones rocked.

Sam Adama kicks all kinds of ass. He's a great character and he's actually the most likeable character on the show.

Is everyone on Caprica frakked up? Even the mother-in-law is a nutcase. Is there one person on this show who isn't insane or corrupt? Even the talk show host...don't think you're going to make yourself look good by cracking jokes about Daniel's dead daughter to her face, no matter what she was. And Amanda, you have no right to complain about what Daniel's doing. You set off the bomb when you announced that Zoe was a terrorist and Daniel is the one left trying to pick up the pieces.

Like the previous two episodes, it started off slow but picked up in the second half, particularly during the excellent Backtalk sequence. Zoe dancing with the tech geek was cool too.

One thing I can't accept though is the low-tech nature of the Caprica Police Force. Old school video cameras, cameras with flashbulbs, VCRs, old school computers with dot matrix printouts in a world where space travel is possible. Are you kidding me?! They're more low-tech than we are.

The Graystone interview was interesting. I rather enjoyed it. A few tidbits of FYI in there. The reason drugs were legalized to take the profit out of it, and therefore the need for crime, so hey why not do the same for the dangerous world of the virtual world.

I was worried about Daniel there for a minute then Amanda came in to save the day. I kinda knew Sam wasn't going to kill her but still....good scene. I especially liked last line by Sam before they cut... "She was going to make us proud." Our something like that.

And yeah...Grandma Adama is hardcore....and scary in all the right ways.

Dancing robot was fun...epspecially when it wasn't a robot anymore...All Zoe you dance so fine. Still dancing robot was fun.

Good episode.

It kind of prefigures the tech seen in BSG though, which is neat.

A sign of a decadent society about to be nuked to oblivion in 60 plus years? Budget cuts don't allow for shiny, new tech, so the old stuff it is. I can ignore the issue, for the most part. I just take it in the same vein as the "steampunk" in Warehouse 13, and I hand-wave it all away. I think it kind of looks all cool and pretty and stuff, so I enjoy it. I particularly love the old cars. I don't need realism if I get to see Hyundai Accents as a result.

Gramma = bizarro Marion Cunningham on badass crack. Mrs. C!

Sam has officially won me over. I also loved staring at his eyes while he drove. The old man's eyes. As soon as I saw Sam washing his hands at the sink, I knew it was a ruse. Though, I wasn't sure prior to that scene; they could have sent Amanda out on a high (the talk show), causing Daniel to meltdown completely. Well-written.

Interesting but irrelevent: Amanda has a very similar voice tone as Zoe (the actors do, more accurately to say). And Zoe has similar facial traits as her mom. Yet at the same time, they look nothing alike.

I need more exposition from Polly Walker's character; she annoyed me this episode.

So...Tamara will snap (and make us proud....)

I knew I forgot to add something! That was a nice touch. And, Mr EastCoastress would have a fit if I didn't make it clear that I only recognized the original theme due to his passion for the show, and the fact that I 'caught' the BSG bug by watching the original series box set, complete in silver cylon case.

Anyone know the song Zoe and the tech geek were dancing to? As cheesey as it was, I really liked that scene. I'm not a big fan of Zoe (I prefer Lacy) but I like the sincerity of the tech guy. I'm guessing there will be "romance" with those two...

Of course, I knew Amanda would not be killed...as much as I really like the actress, I don't buy her as Amanda. "Amanda" should be refined and polished, and I don't get that from this Amanda. Amanda's confession at the service 2 eps ago and her hypocrisy/illogic in the early part of this episode bugged me but she redeemed herself on the talk show. BTW, the show host is SO Jay Leno -- cheesetastic.

And way to go, Willy's grandmother! I love that the show defied expectations by making her ruthless. And -- her tattos!

I was going to write that she is being woefully underutilized, perhaps that is the problem. I guess they are reserving her for later in the series.

Anyway, a pretty good episode.

We've seen allusions in BSG and Caprica to the Greek and Roman mythology, but tonight we had allusions to Hebrew culture, e.g., "at age 13, you are a man," and in retrospect it make the Tauron cuisine, and Grandma Adama's cooking make more cultural sense. (Jewish cooking and chicken? Couldn't be a more clear allusion.)

I liked the twists we had in this episode. What is the name of the actor who plays the tech geek? I haven't found that out yet. And Nestor is a very pretty character to look at, terrorist or not. I hopw we get more insight into both Nestor and Clarice, and the rest of the Willow household.

Wow, a character with 2 minutes of screentime annoyed you? I was going to write that she is being woefully underutilized, perhaps that is the problem. I guess they are reserving her for later in the series.

(RE: Polly Walker's character)

That's my point; I'd like to see more of her and tonight was, as you said, 'woefully' reserved with her development. I should have said 'it' annoyed me (not 'she')

*hangs head* I should be more patient; after all, I am on season 6 of Lost.

Boy I dunno. This episode advanced the plot maybe 1/4 of an inch. Such a leisurely pace! The assassination went nowhere--the only difference being that Sam gets to josh his brother for being a sissy Caprican in a Tauron body. The bad PR plot was similarly rendered null by the Daniel and Amanda show with your host Patton Oswalt. So we were basically right back to the same place at the end that we were at the beginning.

The Sam character is charming but is taking up too much plot time. Ditto (minus the charm) with Amanda. What's unusual or interesting about her to warrant all the screen time? Meanwhile the Cylons-to-be are waiting in the green room?! Tamara had the week off and Zoe-bot dances. Not a word of dialog for either one of them. Then Daniel and Amanda snuggling luxuriously after their TV success, in their grand bed. The end.

Based on the preview on the other hand, looks like next week's episode moves it along, with Tamaravatar engaging in some good freakout. Weeds was like this--an episode or three of dawdling around, then a reluctant nudge forward. It's as if they're worried that they might run out of storyline? But the greater risk by far is cancellation so please, get a move on willya!

I'm not sure who's more awesome: Sam, Grandma Adama, or Dancing Robot Boy Who I'm Pretty Sure Doesn't Have A Name Yet. I mean, sure, Sam is a badass killing machine (with a heart of... well, okay, probably not gold), but DRBWIPSDANY was dancing with an actual killer robot. One that will basically be responsible for the destruction of the human race, at that. They were completely adorable, too. Let's hope the poor guy survives the robot uprising.

I believe it was Philomon, nicer of the two lab hobbits. Also, the one who's still got all his fingers.

Someone asked about the songs Philomon tuned to in the scenes with Zoe-R/U-87?

Here's a tweet Bear posted at his blog:

New episode tonight of #Caprica @ 9/8c - "Gravedancing" features two original songs, from @brendansband and @KingAhab

I guess we'll learn more about it when Bear posts his blog entry for the episode.

I have to say that I am never bored with this show. I have no idea where things are going so everything is delightful.

I love Amanda. And Sam. That was a gorgeous scene in the car.

Also... I found it interesting, though a little annoying, whenever Amanda and Daniel are in a scene like the one with the tie that the camera was whipping back and forth between them when usually the camera work is much smoother.

I loved this episode, I'm pretty much a fan of good dialogue-driven pieces and this didn't disappoint. The talk show scene was my favourite, with Sam messing around with his brother as the second favourite. The robot dancing scene was cute without being too ridiculous and I loved it. Favourite of the series so far!

It reminded me of the robots dancing on modern-day Earth in the last scene of the BSG series finale.

The reason drugs were legalized to take the profit out of it, and therefore the need for crime, so hey why not do the same for the dangerous world of the virtual world.

This actually seems like a red herring. Some countries have had success controlling illicit drug and alcohol sales through decriminalization. However, there are varying degrees of success dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction and the social problems caused by them. Changing access doesn't change content, and when the dealers leave, the users are left. The same arguments could be made concerning illegal downloading, but if online music were freely traded, we would not expect the music itself to change.

Greystone is making a false comparison by saying it would be possible to take the violence out of the holosphere (if I can call it that) by letting go of proprietary access. There's no reason to believe that the content will change because access would open. Indeed, if the content reflects some inner social disease of Caprica/the Twelve Colonies, the violence portrayed in the holobands should get more complex, not recede. And given RDM, I expect that the holosphere will become darker. Maybe parents will spy on their children, or even virtually punish them.

Yeah, I'm not sure how open sourcing the haloband would lead to people doing less crazy things with it.

Does anyone else think that it's weird that Global Defense hasn't really questioned Lacy in depth? I mean that is a huge, huge plot hole. Lacy was the last one to see Zoe alive. She was right frakkin there at the Maglev platform, she would be their number one target in their investigation.

Can someone clarify Joseph’s relationship to Bill’s grandmother for me? Joseph said he came to Caprica as an orphan so I am assuming she is Joseph’s mother-in-law. Also, Sam said he lost his sister in the bombing. By that did he mean what Americans mean by sister-in-law, or is Sam Joseph’s brother-in-law?

Greystone is making a false comparison by saying it would be possible to take the violence out of the holosphere (if I can call it that) by letting go of proprietary access. There's no reason to believe that the content will change because access would open.

I think the argument is that the hacks are titillating because they are illegal. A more proper comparison might be loosening controls on pornography.

Daniel and Amanda snuggling luxuriously after their TV success, in their grand bed. The end.

And lying to each other. Did Amanda tell Daniel about nearly getting killed? That can't end well, tee hee.

It's funny how Sam, the contract killer, is more merciful than the old lady.

The difference between an amateur and a professional, I suspect.

Enjoyed this episode a lot. Loved the idea of using bones for jacks. Both Grandma and Sam jerking Joseph around for "going Caprican" and soft. William getting his Tauron lessons from Grandma this week -- you can get more of what you want from your enemies.

I really, really like that this is a character-driven show, not a plot-driven show. Sister Clarice getting the warning out to her flock, pounding the walls after the police raid, watching Daniel Graystone over and over as he reveals the existence of Zoe's avatar. William Adama learning to command a battlestar from his Tauron mob relatives. Lacy bonding with whats-his-name over bike repair.

"Gravedancing" is such a great title. All the Graystones, including Zoe-A, dancing on Zoe's grave.
