Let's set some ground rules here.

First and foremost: read the FAQ if you haven't already. Right now.

Secondly: this is a Web site about television. This particular forum is about Adam Lambert, his appearance on American Idol, his music career, and so forth.

It is NOT a place to get into pissing matches with other posters. It is NOT a place to bitch about other Web sites or what they're saying about him. It is NOT a place to act like a 12 year old schoolgirl or, for that matter, a disapproving parent.

In short - turn your enthusiasm / lack thereof about Adam down from "11". I don't care how you feel about Adam - I just expect this to be a sane discussion thread. If you cannot carry on a sane, rational, drama-free discussion with other posters... this may not be the site for you.

For those wondering - consider this a new starting point.

Underneath is the most amazingly beautiful song I think I've ever heard recorded.

It really is gorgeous and actually breaks my heart a little. That very end part where all but the piano drops out and Adam pulls back from the wailing that sounds like he's practically crying with a last aching vulnerable "welcome to my world of truth, I don't wanna hide any part of me from you"? CHILLS.

But the front half of the album is totally ruling my life right now, just one superfun dance party, each song flowing to the next really well, but distinct enough from each other to not run completely together like one big song like some albums do. Shady absolutely floors me, Cuckoo is sooooo much better than its snippet, and both Kicking In and Pop That Lock make me chairdance uncontrollably. Also Naked Love is pure summer pop joy fluff. Not that the back half isn't amazing, so vocally stunning and full of all the emotions omg. I'm also enjoying the bonus tracks much more than I though I would from the short Amazon snippets, but I think Adam made the right choices with which tracks made the regular album. Even BTIKM which gets no respect now since radio didn't embrace it makes a really effective musical pivot from the ass shaking dance party to the "emotional hangover" (TM Adam) back half.

I'm particularly impressed that Adam kept his promise to keep his voice front and center in every single song, while still completely embracing modern electro production. Kudos dude.

Since Sony Malaysia partner WOWLOUD accidentally put up their official stream a teeny bit earlier than they were supposed to and fans are reporting the hard copy is available today at a big CD store in Hong Kong, it's inevitable that the "leak" will spread. But official streams from international partners were scheduled to start tomorrow anyway, so it was only a matter of time. While piracy is an unfortunate reality of the music industry today, the silver lining is that peeps that may not have bothered otherwise might check it out and potentially buy it. Or even just spread the word that they like it. So far I'm seeing a bunch of positive responses to the album from tweeters that are not stans, this seems really encouraging.

But I CANNOT WAIT for my preordered cd in all its HQ audio glory to hit my mailbox, I wanna listen with my pricy stereo headphones!

ETA: I will say that as much as I think the bonus tracks were the right call as bonus tracks, I'm a teeny bit obsessed with the vocal on Runnin. Like a lot of fans, Adam's voice itself is a huge draw for me, there's just something about it that I love. But it's fascinating to hear him sing so much in his lower register, he's got a nice warm tone down there, and yet within the same song leap up into the stratosphere. So glad I preordered the deluxe version!

"Underneath" is the most beautiful song that I have ever heard Adam sing. It is so beautiful that it is too beautiful. It's my favorite song in the world right now. I love this song with all my heart and soul. Thank you Adam Lambert for this precious gift of a song.

Getting all excited as to how these will sound live in a concert. We will all be spent, bawling and dancing our arses off. He will be as well. He better do less dates and just bigger venues so he can rest in between. Hate to start to share him more with the world and new fans, (I liked the small venues) but it has to happen and I am thrilled for him. I think this album will make him soar.

Streamof album available on Adam's official facebook page.

This is probably the best album I've heard in five years. Incredible body of work. All his work and patience to get it just right has really paid off. This album is pop perfection.

LennieB, thank you for posting that link. Thanks to you, I found out Adam is finally making an appearance in Chicago! Looks like he's one of many performers at Fantabuloso, however. Never heard of the event. Anyone in the Chicago area planning on attending or know anything about Fantabuloso? I am torn. I'd love to go so I can finally see Adam in concert, but with so many others performing at the event as well, it makes me wonder how many songs Adam will actually get to sing and then there's the fact that one of the other artists appearing is The Wanted. I am not old by any means, but I fear being the oldest person in the arena, lol. I assume Adam will do another solo tour in the U.S. this year. Any news on that yet?

I absolutely love "Shady" too! I would just love to hear that song on the radio! It seems so perfect to me as a radio song but with that extra funky something special to make it stand out.

That is so WONDERFUL that Rolling Stone gave Adam's album 4 stars!!! I'm so excited about that. And there's some other good reviews out there too at the fan forums. I love the whole album! I'm so excited for Adam. It really seems like this album should take off. I just checked Amazon and "Trespassing" was number 15 on the albums' bestsellers list. I'm hoping Adam can have first week sales of at least 100,000. And even if it's not to be, since Adam's 2 singles haven't really been on the radio too much, I still have the tiniest part of me that thinks Adam could top his debut album sales of 198,000. But whatever the sales, I hope Adam's dreams come true with this album- whatever his goals are because he crafted a magnificent album; and I'm very proud of him and happy for him.

I've been so obsessed with "Underneath" that I didn't even say how very beautiful the album track of "Outlaws of Love" is. His voice is just as beautiful on it as his acoustic versions he's done. I still love "Trespassing." It still stands out in a big way to me. "Kickin' In" really reminds me of some Michael Jackson/Prince song. I'm starting to love "Runnin'" too. So, that's all I'm going to talk about for now. This album really stands out as an Adam Lambert album to me. Sometimes I even feel like Adam is his own genre- like there is pop, rock, funk, etc. and then there is the genre of Adam Lambert, and that is my favorite.

I'm starting to love "Runnin'" too.

I can't believe I wasn't going to listen to the bonus tracks at all, as I wanted to see how the album worked as a whole (and I was kinda put off by the song titles: Nirvana? really?).

And then I listened to Runnin' and JFC, what a song. I love the rest of the album (who'd have thought I'd enjoy a song called Pop that Lock so very very much?!), but then you get to Runnin' and OMFG. I get why it doesn't really fit in the album, but it is amazing. I've realised it reminds me a lot of Radiohead, and maybe that's why I love it, but no matter. Holy shit.

And Nirvana is just lovely, and floaty and ethereal and oh dear.

Adam Lambert Takes Control With "Trespassing"

The above article, from Billboard.com, is a wonderfully informative overview of Adam's approach to his career, his view of the challenges he faces, and the strategies of his management and label for promoting him and his music.

An excerpt:

Direct Management Group's Martin Kirkup, whose firm began working with Lambert last summer after the singer's departure from 19 Entertainment, says the process of reintroducing the artist to the marketplace will simply revolve around getting as many eyeballs on him as possible and then allowing the music to speak for itself. That started earlier this year with performances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," Logo's NewNowNext Awards and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"We feel he has good recognition because of 'American Idol,' but really when you get to your second record everything is starting off fresh. Whatever audience you brought with you from 'Idol,' whatever the perception you have-some of that remains," Kirkup says. "But basically you're now going to thrive or fail based on your own talent or skills. The most important thing we can be doing is getting people to see Adam, whether that's on TV, live or on video."

RCA VP of marketing Nick Pirovano says that Lambert is still very much in the artist development stage. "We're breaking an artist," he says. "We want him to be more than just an 'American Idol,' and that takes time."

I like that, Boca Diva! It does take time. I believe Adam will gain supporters with this era. He is being recognized in the industry and respected and that will carry over to the public. Then we can say, "See, we told you he was great!"

The abundance of things happening makes me generally happy. I feel kinda bummed that I can' always catch up with everything but yay for DMG trying to het as many eyeballs on Adam as possible. One of the best strategies in existance.

Other than that: Instead of a cockring on his hand, Adam wore a horse jacket on GMA and managed to look fabulous. I don't know how's that even possible. My guru.

Beautiful pictures of Adam on Good Morning America from

http://www.justjared...orning-america/

Adam was like a beautiful sunburst on Good Morning American this morning. He sang gorgeously and perfectly his single "Never Close Our Eyes." He was so smiling and happy too- his usual joyful self. It's wonderful to see Adam on television singing. He sang all of "Trespassing" too but not on television. I believe they are supposed to post a video of that later. I loved his black and white jacket with the horse. It was stunning to the max! Also, Adam's python boots. Adam looked like such a star. I just appreciate that about Adam so much- how he presents himself visually and gives it his all, and is never boring! He looked exciting!

Also saw VH1 Morning Buzz show. I love that interviewer girl. She really loves Adam and they have a great rapport. So Adam lit that place up too with his sunshine. I love it best when Adam gets to sing too, but that was really enjoyable.

I didn't enjoy that Chelsea Lately interview too much with Adam from last week. Three years ago he went on with her, and all it focused on was Adam being gay- gay this, gay that. Well, it's been three years, and I felt like I was back at that same interview from the past. I mean, Adam was smiling and happy and all, so it seems; it just seems like it was all about Adam being gay. It just bugged me.

Tomorrow is Adam's big day! I'm hoping for the best for him in opening week sales! He deserves it so much.

Billboard interview is one of the best things ever. Adam talking about his music and people he worked with and himself and his artistic growth is hypnotic, kudos to the interviewer. Plus, he's got a Trespassing ipod case, I want one too.

...

And I'm pretty convinced he's wearing horse pants this time and still looks awesome.

If he ever wears both the horse jacket and the horse pants, though, I'll cry myself to sleep.

Adam Lambert braces for whirlwind with 'Trespassing,' Queen tour

"If you cut these songs open, you get Adam," says Williams, whose credits on "Trespassing" include the hard-thumping title track, in which Lambert insists, "I don't need no GPS to show me where to go." "It's his personality, his story, his DNA."

"Adam had a hand in every word," adds Bonnie McKee, who co-wrote the uptempo party song "Cuckoo" and the more sensual "Chokehold." As one of Lambert's vocal producers, McKee also oversaw his singing in the studio.

"When you write a pop song there's a formula where by the end you're doing these crazy ad libs," she says. "But Adam was like, 'I don't wanna do that this time.' He wants to show a different side."

Or at least he was. With "Trespassing" in stores, Lambert's existence is again taking a turn for the extraordinary, as he launches a campaign RCA Vice President of marketing Nick Pirovano claims will stretch well into 2013. "We know this album has several singles," Pirovano says, adding, "We want a No. 1 album, and we feel good about the setup."

It looks like RCA is in it for the long haul. They must be really pleased with all the great reviews coming in for Trespassing.

That kinda bugged me too. Especially when she asked, a propos of having a boyfriend, "So do you rape each other all the time?" And I'm like, WHAT? The hell? She's equating gay sex with rape? Have I entered the twilight zone or something? I felt both embarrassed and offended for him.

Hey, Trespassing is now available for download on iTunes!

I know! And I'm at work and I just got the email that my pre-order is ready for download, and my Ipod is at home. Dammit. I'm actually curious to whether I dislike Kickin In as much as I did as a snippet - the version of the album I acquired to listen to after it was leaked didn't have Kickin In, and that was alright by me, lol.

I've been reading a few reviews, and it always amazed me when reviewers say that Runnin' shouldn't have been on the album at all, when it has taken over my life. I know, we're all different, different strokes, yada yada. I wonder if it would have worked as a single, though.

So at the moment I'm browsing youtube for the songs and counting the hours till I get home and download the precious. And Naked Love will be my ringtone.

Yeah count me as one that doesn't get all the Runnin love.

I mean sure, I enjoy it, mostly because Adam's crazy range on it is fascinating and it's got a cool driving beat, but I like pretty much all of the the songs on the regular album better. To me it feels much further toward the rock end of pop/rock. I could definitely see peeps who prefer that genre downloading it, Take Back, Chokehold and maybe Trespassing as singles rather than buying the album.

But I wouldn't want it on the regular album, because I wouldn't want to give up any of those tracks for it. Not even poor disrespected BTIKM, which in the context of the album works as a really effective sonic transition between the light and dark sides of the album. Also the album flows from beginning to end in a really dynamic but natural way, would not want to muck that up either.

And if my Top 40 radio station is any indication, it would not fit in at all as a single. LOL not in the least.

I think it makes an excellent bonus track though. Intriguing enough that it helps tip people over from the purchase of the regular album to the pricier deluxe. Mission accomplished.

Wow, yes! I went to the US store and it's there, yay! And he's one of the pics that comes up on the scrolling billboard thingy, they've chosen one of those near profile pics in which he looks amazing.

So I downloaded the Itunes album (a proper CD is on the way for the car; I'm kinda old-fashioned that way, I love having the actual CD), and I can safely say that I actively dislike Kickin In. I listened to it twice to make sure, and it just doesn't click with me. Oh well, can't love them all.

The others are just so amazing - I was going to say even the extra tracks, but I actually mean especially the extra tracks. I've been won over by Cuckoo and Shady, but lately even Take Back has really struck me - once the chorus kicks in, it's so mournful and fluid, I don't know. It strikes a chord, I suppose.

I've seen on twitter (caveat - not checked it myself) that there are currently five individual tracks on the Pop top 200 - with Runnin the highest.

The metacritic score for the album currently stands at an impressive 79. And that doesn't include Billboard's review from today giving it a 86.
