This topic is for the Nickelodeon show "Big Time Rush", premiering in early 2010. It's about a four member boy band that's on it's way to be big, yet is supposed to be more serious than Nickelodeon's "Naked Brothers Band" (which was awful IMO). It stars Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow (Shane from iCarly's "iSaw Him First"), Carlos Pena, and Logan Henderson as the four guys and Stephen Glickman (as Gustavo Rocque) as the record executive. A preview of the show is to premiere on Thanksgiving weekend, during a new iCarly "movie" episode.

Press Release for the show:

Nickelodeon partners with
Columbia/Epic Label Group (a label group of Sony Music Entertainment) on Big
Time Rush, a live-action, scripted comedy series that chronicles the journey
of four best friends who are given the opportunity of a lifetime when they get
a chance to be part of the glamorous L.A. pop music scene. The network has
ordered 20 episodes of the new comedy from Scott Fellows, creator of the
top-rated Nickelodeon series Ned's DeClassified School Survival Guide. A
special one-hour preview of the new series will air on Saturday, Nov. 28, at
8:30 p.m. (ET/PT), following an all-new episode of iCarly at 8:00 p.m.
(ET/PT). Currently in production in Los Angeles, Big Time Rush marks the
second television collaboration with Columbia/Epic Label Group (Victorious
being the first) and is slated to premiere in early 2010 on Nickelodeon.

"Our audience loves stories about wish fulfillment and beating the odds, and
that is what is at the heart of Big Time Rush," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive
Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. "We think
kids and tweens will quickly connect with the story of Kendall, Logan, James
and Carlos. They'll be laughing at their misadventures and rooting for them as
they try to attain that elusive goal of pop stardom."

"Music is a key element of the show, and our four stars really know how to
deliver on that front," said Jay Landers, Senior Vice President A&R, Columbia
Records. "They each have the vocal ability and personal charisma to make it
as bona fide pop stars. Big Time Rush will be a terrific platform to showcase
their considerable talents."

In the special one-hour preview of Big Time Rush, 16-year-old Kendall (Kendall
Schmidt, AI, Gilmore Girls), is inadvertently discovered by eccentric record
executive Gustavo Rocque (Stephen Glickman) during a nationwide casting call
and must choose between staying home in Minneapolis with his friends and
pursuing a singing career in Hollywood. Not seeing himself as a solo act,
Kendall strikes a deal with the Hollywood image-maker and agrees to undergo
"pop group 101" training in exchange for giving his best friends - James
(James Maslow, iCarly), Logan (Logan Henderson) and Carlos (Carlos Pena,
Ned's DeClassified School Survival Guide) - the opportunity to be in a music
group with him. The boys travel with Kendall's mom (Challen Cates) and
younger sister (Ciara Bravo) from the snowy Midwest to sunny Los Angeles,
where they move into the Palm Woods, a swanky temporary housing development
where entertainment companies house their budding new talent. But the boys
soon learn that life in Hollywood is not all about hanging at the pool and
attending late-night parties: they quickly realize they have a very short
window to prove to themselves and their record label that they are serious
about their new career choice.

Big Time Rush is a series about friendship and brotherhood that chronicles the
finding, making and breaking - of a potential chart-topping music group. Each
of the guys brings something different to the group as they figure out their
place in the crazy business of music and entertainment. A naturally gifted
singer, Kendall never planned on becoming famous but definitely has the
swagger of a music star. After seizing this opportunity of a lifetime, he
leads his friends on an exciting comedy and music-filled journey. James has
big dreams for himself and his pals and his confidence in their potential for
success helps the other guys deal with the more difficult moments. Carlos
looks at life as a big playground and this foray into music as an awesome ride
that he is on with his buddies. The brains of the operation, Logan is the
voice of reason and his sharp wit gives everyone the perspective they need to
stay true to themselves and their goals. Life in the business is not easy and
their antics often get them in trouble with the record label. From falling
for the same girl to redecorating their apartment at the Palm Woods to
misbehaving with a new school teacher at the recording studio -- the group
learns that success comes with hard work and dedication - and the support of
one another.

This show sounds, meh. I'll give it a shot though.

Yay. Another show about white kids. Another show about trying to get famous featuring a band. Who thinks up this carp? Yawn.

I'll check out the show, but seeing the commercials about it is not promising. Its basically a grown-up version of The Naked Brothers Band. Except the 4 guys don't look like a bunch of girls. They're pretty much tools to me.

I went into this expecting it to be bad. Call me crazy, but I ended up enjoying it. I like that it didn't take itself seriously. The way they handled the boys' characters was not predictable IMO and I liked that. The pretty boy with the good voice and high ambitions didn't automatically become the star. He ended up being hated by the producer while the guy who was being pushed by the producer was lazy and disinterested. When James walked into the audition, I was totally expecting it to be one of those cheesy "a star is born" moments, but it wasn't like that at all. The "smart guy" (Logan?) wasn't automatically dressed as a geek in glasses and I bought that they were friends.

Is it brilliant? No, but I thought it was pretty good and I saw some clever writing in there. I laughed a lot.

I could do without the token smart ass little sister, though and the actor who plays the producer needs to tone it down several hundred notches.

I also could have done without the token "Glamorous Hollywood" montage because seriously? LA is a dump and it bugs me whenever it's glossed up for the camera. I almost wish they had not taken the show out of the Minnesota setting. It would have been interesting to see a show not set in LA or NY.

This was alright. I laughed a few times. I just found out that it was created by the same mind behind Ned's Declassified which is where all the loopy insane cartoonish humor comes from. I just which the guys could at least change their styles, I'm having trouble telling them apart.

I might have to check this out after all. "Ned's..." was the only teen Nick show that didn't have people screaming for the entire 1/2 hour.

The "Danger Boy" bit is what sold me on the show, it made me really miss 2gether though. :( It reminded me of the boy band training scene

Can I also add that this show made me laugh in just one episode than what JONAS failed to do in the six I've watched?

I thought the newest episode was good enough. Reminds me a lot of another Nick show, "Ned's Declassified". Then again, both shows are made by the same people.

This totally reminded me of "The Monkeys" from way back when. I have a tough time getting past all the eye brow grooming of these boys. The one kid - James I think - waaaay to much makeup, etc...very distracting. Overall, enjoyed the pilot should be interesting to see what they come up with.

It's the highest rated official premiere for a Nickelodeon live action series.

The new episode was even better than the last. I feel for Kelly, she puts up with enough dealing with Rocque and the boys, as well as they're company (Camille, Kendall's sister, etc.), but it all goes well together.

Interesting how Nickelodeon is now pairing iCarly with Big Time Rush, now every Friday night with new episodes starting @8. I guess True Jackson and The Troop will be paired with on Saturdays, as well as with Victorious once that premieres in March.

I thought the "Bad Boy" episode was good. Kendall's Bad Boy impersonations were the funniest, especially his crack on Gustavo.

The new episode was even better. This show is a lot better than I expected. A lot more "Tee Hee!" moments in this one. I'd have to say that this show is better than True Jackson and The Troop, but still needs a mile before it reaches iCarly.

Liked how they parodied a certain Disney heartthrob with a musical/teen movie heartthrob named Dax Zevon.

Also, matador outfits?

I also like it when Nick makes a small but powerful jab at Disney.

When i saw previews for the show it didnt look interesting but so far i have been proven wrong. I think the guys are real cute and i do like the Monkees vibe it has. Finally there is a show where i can look at cute young guys and not go to jail for it (the guys are in their early 20s in real life but play teens on the show).

I'm watching this because I think Kendall is hot. Something about the way his thick eyebrows, blue eyes, big nose with a round tip, and mid-1960's mop-top hair combine together makes his face very interesting to me. It's kinda weird though- the mop-top hair looks good on Kendall, but I think the long hair doesn't look good on the Pretty Boy of the group. I don't know- I get the feeling he would look better with Logan's cut.

I like the shots it takes at contemporary pop culture- the bit about Dax Zevon, the references to Degrassi and One Tree Hill. And the bit about the creepy girl trying to be like Shirley Temple, who turned out to really be a 21-year old who just looked young, was pretty hilarious and a nice shout-out to how shows tend to have grown-ups playing kids. And it might be a jab at Disney, because of the rumor that Jason Earle is really about 30 years old.

And the community service breakout was funny- "I'll never forget youooooo guuuuyyyyssss!!!!"

Im really surprised not that many people on here are talking about this show. Its not the best in the world, but i can stomach it better than the Jonas show. Plus, as a grown woman, i refuse to look at the nick message boards.

I thought that the guys from Big Time Rush were going to be tools. Well, I was wrong and I'm starting to like them & this show. Its somewhat entertaining. They're the complete opposite of The Naked Brothers Band.

Thankfully, Big Time Rush is getting a second season.

It took me a minute to figure out that it was Missy from "Ned's". Wasn't the lumberjack looking handy man Gordy from "Ned's" or am I just crazy? The fake beard might have thrown me off.

I think the show is cute for what it is and who it is marketed to. I'm 26, so I'm sure I'm way outside the demographic, but I like it. It gives me some pretty good chuckles and the songs are decent. Would I buy their stuff? Not a chance. But the show is fun.

With that said, is it wrong that I think James is gorgeous? He's legal, right? If he is, I won't feel so bad.

I watched the newest episode and the first thing I noticed was a cameo by James Arnold Taylor, one of the best voice actors in the business. He played the regional manager (I think that was his role) that hired Kendall's mom on the spot. It was cool because he does the voice of Johnny Test, Scott Fellows' other show on Cartoon Network.

With him and the cameo by Missy from Ned's Declassified, this episode was one big shout-out to his other work. I loved it.
