Glee Fanfiction: Give Them What They Want
Posted Oct 12, 2012 @ 10:43 AM
I was wondering if someone could give me some Kurt fic recommendations. I find I'm already tired of Blaine feels so bad for cheating stories, and I haven't found much else on line. Specifically, I'd like to see something post Break-Up where Kurt is sleeping his way through the gay population of New York. I'm sure we'll never get to see it on the show, so getting my fanfiction fix in will be the next best thing. However, like I said, I haven't had much luck with finding anything.

I have found one story that's giving me what I want. Kiss me, it'll heal but it won't forget is going to be Kurtbastian (never thought I'd be reccing THAT) but for now it's Kurt/anyone and it makes me happy. I know many people on here don't like fanfiction.net, but it's where I post and I find if you're patient enough to sift through everything you don't care for, you do find the odd story you'll like.

Long time lurker on all of the Glee boards but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good Finn fics? I'm not really a Finchel fan but any other pairing is good
I rec Your Heart Outside Your Body, which was actually recced here a long time ago, and how I discovered it. http://mutantwrites....l.com/8270.html
It's a Glee/Hunger Games cross over. Kurt and Finn are the ones chosen to compete. If you like Kurt and Finn, I think you'll like the story, and if you like Kurt and Finn's relationship (like how I do), even better.
If you're hesitant about reading it because you haven't read/watched The Hunger Games, it didn't bother me when I read it back in August last year. I'd never even heard of the Hunger Games and I had no trouble understanding the story.
The story gets violent at times (obviously) but I like it because it's putting two characters (Kurt and Finn) through an ordeal and seeing how they cope and respond in such an environment. It's a character story. It wouldn't have been successful if the author didn't have a proper grasp on who Kurt and Finn are. So if you're worried that their characterisation gets mucked up because it's AU/crossover, I don't think that happened. They're still the Kurt and Finn I know in canon, just canon!Kurt and canon!Finn selected to compete in the Hunger Games. I read it in one sitting last year, and the story was still running through my head when I went to bed.

I really enjoyed this one: http://panbutnotpete...l.com/1926.html
Not quite what you asked for, BigDestiny, but it does focus on Kurt after the breakup.
Thanks! That was very well written, and I'm glad I read it. I also really appreciated the couple of lines that showed what Kurt thought of the sudden Blaine-Sam friendship. I wasn't expecting that.

The Hunger Games AU story I read in one sitting, over about an hour. I loved how the writer kept the Glee characters' personalities intact yet slid them seamlessly into the AU of the novel, with which he/she did not take liberties but drew some interesting parallels/foreshadowing moments that tie into the novel perfectly.
I thought they were both excellently written, with no spelling errors, missing punctuation or grammatical howlers.
Does anyone know of any happier fics that focus on little Kurt and his parents, before his mother died?

I came to rec Dead in Ohio its a Puck/Kurt fic and has a bit of Kurt and Finn brother bonding. Its if the characters of Glee were stuck in the Zombieland universe but there isn't any actual crossover.

Also, any and all Jyder fics would be amazing. There are only 11 on AO3, and I can't seem to find them anywhere else. Jyder=Jake/Ryder.

I would really love a good love story between Sebastian and Kurt, which focuses on the enmity between them and includes the banter that makes me love them in the first place. I would want it to be a long, gradual story, preferably longer than 20,000 words, though that's not 100% necessary.
A Change in the Weather is a pretty well known fic in the Kurtbastian fandom. The basic outline is that Kurt agrees to date Sebastian, i.e. be his pretend boyfriend, in return for getting paid because he needs the money for college. Sebastian needs Kurt as his 'boyfriend' because his parents are concerned he plays the field too much and doesn't have a steady bf. I read the first few chapters a year ago and enjoyed it, but never found the time to finish it since it was still a WIP back when I started, so I have no idea how the story progressed or what happened in the end. I just know it was a solid start, so I'd recommend it. And yeah it's a pretty long story, multiple chapters. And bonus points for not bashing Blaine.
A Change in the Weather
A Change in the Weather
Pairings: Kurtbastian, very minor Klaine
Rating: Eventual NC-17
Summary: The summer before college Kurt is shocked when Sebastian comes to him with a timely offer he canít refuse. Heíll get something he needs to realize his dreams, but in return he has to play the role of Sebastianís boyfriend for the summer. Neither of them know just how much their worlds are about to change. For a GKM prompt.

Well..for those who haven't read this not completed WIP story
There is this plot twist:
I agree it's a great read, but at this point IMO it probably won't be completed.

The premise is that Finn never found out that Beth wasn't his daughter and he and quin raise her ( puck knows but doesn't say anything). Main focus of the story is on puck and rachel in New York who eventually get together. Rachel figured out the Beth thing but has never told puck that she knows, until years later when she gets pregnant and she tells puck " i will even let you raise this one" revealing that she knew about Beth all along.
Does anyone recognise this fic?

Wow, that's an old one I'd completely forgotten about. Thanks for like new reading material!

Greetings, all! I created an account here on TWoP after lurking for a long time solely because of all the amazing fan fiction I discovered in this thread. Now, however, I've read through all the great stuff that was recommended here, and I still want more. So please, I'm begging you - please recommend some new reading material. I am particularly fascinated with Brittany and Santana, but I've also enjoyed the stories I've read pairing up Quinn and Rachel, Rachel and Santana, and even Quinn and Santana (what? - no Brittany and Rachel or Brittany and Quinn? Why not?).
Thanks in advance for your welcoming replies.

Some Quinn/Rachel, 'cause that's how I roll.
Anything by poetzproblem. Her Don't Blink Series is my future Glee/Faberry headcanon. And the Acceptance/Remembrance/Convergence trio is excellent.
Easy After Midnight by triptohere - Deals with the aftermath of the crash in On My Way. The POV rotates between Quinn, Rachel, Brittany, Santana, Puck, Finn, and Kurt.
Boats in the Sky by WaveGoodbye - College!Faberry.
Brittany and Quinn?
I don't read much, or really get into, non-Faberry fic. One big exception is thememoriesfire's but i've got a plan. It is a rewrite of season one in which Quinn is comforted by Brittany on her fat day, instead of hooking up with Puck.

Thank you very much for the new recommendations. You know, I've been watching the show since it premiered, and yet lately I feel as though its effect on me - and particularly these four characters' effect on me - has increased dramatically. I can't tell whether it's because of all the great stories I've read (thanks to this thread) or because I've been paying even greater attention since I started revisiting the show on DVD, but all I know is that Brittany and Santana have become without a doubt my favorite television couple of all time, and that I find Quinn and Rachel to be two of the most interesting and complex female characters I've ever seen on the small screen.

Some Brittany and Santana fics that I've read and enjoyed:
The evolution of Santana and Brittany's relationship from Brittany's perspective.
With these words I promise to show you the passion behind our touches, the desire behind our kisses, and the intensity behind our love. Sincerely yours, Brittany S. Pierce.
On the last weekend of summer, Brittany convinces Santana to come camping with her. For both bad reasons and good, it's a trip neither of them will ever forget.
Santana and Quinn's hopes of a peaceful and relaxing summer at Santana's grandmother's in Florida are dashed when the rest of New Directions invites themselves to join them.
Santana Lopez is a publicist in New York trying to rein in the biggest ego the city's ever seen. Brittany Pierce is attempting to create the next big thing in Seattle. They're 2859 miles apart, but one wrong number just might change everything.

Thanks so much, StreetSpirit! I just cannot get enough of these stories; they've really illuminated the characters for me, imbued them with even more depth, more light and shading.
Can't wait to read these. Please keep the recommendations coming!

Wow..."Pas de Deux" and "With These Words, Sincerely Yours" are absolutely *stunning.* So moving. So beautiful. Unforgettable. I will be reading both over and over again for a long time to come. And "2859" is very funny and very sweet. I've just started "(I've Never Reached an Answer) I'm Only Given Clues," and I'm really liking that one so far too. The only one of these most recent recs that I haven't loved is "Lake Hope," which is just too dark and sad for most of its length; the kinda sorta happy ending doesn't quite last long enough to make up for the darkness that precedes it, IMO. Still, it's an absorbing and engrossing examination of Santana's fears and longing and insecurities, and her difficulty in getting past them in order to allow herself to concentrate on, and truly let herself feel, the only thing that really matters: her deep love for Brittany.
Thank you so much once again for the recommendations, and please keep them coming!
the hero factor:
I just read "Boats in the Sky," and I loved it. Such a well-told story of friendship turning into love as Quinn and Rachel evolve from high school rivals to college friends and become something more.
Looking forward to reading more of your recommendations soon. Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed the fics progpoet! Lake Hope is very dark-- I do agree.
I have a few AU Brittany and Santana fics to recommend and one WIP (Work in progress):
First Bite: "Brittany nodded and scooted halfway out of the booth before looking up at Santana with hesitant but daring eyes. "Would you be my first bite?" she asked." Brittana in the True Blood 'verse.
You don't need to have any knowledge of True Blood to read the fic. It's a fairly easy read and not too angsty.
White Shadows: AU. 1862, the North has started the draft. Santana follows her father to war, intent on proving her worth as a doctor. Brittany enlists in place of her father, intent on keeping her family safe. In this broken land, they find a home in each other.
Very long, but well-written, in my opinion. A nice period piece.
Heartwood: 1943 and Santana Lopez's father is overseas fighting in the war. A new surge of home front recruitment supporting the war effort spurs Santana to join the fight, earn a decent wage, and make a new home for herself. Her last chance for work and a place to live is far from where she imagined - The Pierce logging company in the Cascade range.
This one is a WIP. The author still updates pretty regularly, although the fic is ending soon. Another quality period piece.

A really good "film noir" fic I found the other day. More of a Santana story than a Brittana one, and has some nice supporting roles from the likes of Puck, Artie and Tina. Written in the style of a 1940's hard-boiled detective novel.
Soirées Noires: A San Spade Detective Story: Nobody knows the wicked ways of Metropolis like Santana Lopez, PI. In San's world, the women tend to be drop dead gorgeous and the men tend to drop dead. Britt walked in that steamy summer night and San knew she was trouble in black nylons and red heels.

(I've Never Reached an Answer) I'm Only Given Clues was absolutely phenomenal. Possibly the best thing I've read yet. Some people think fan fiction is silly, but I believe that a good story is a good story, regardless of what it's about or what inspired it. And this was an incredibly rich, beautifully told, and extraordinarily moving story. Wow. I could not possibly love that story more.
StreetSpirit: Thank you for posting still more recommendations! I just started First Bite, and I'm really liking the crossover with the world of True Blood.
Agent Dark: Thank you for your recommendation, too. Looking forward to delving into the adventures of San Spade, detective. :)

I've been immersing myself in the world of White Shadows for the last several days and loving every moment of it. Oh, and I've really enjoyed the work of poetzproblem, too. More recommendations, please! I'm begging you here. Thanks in advance!
