So . . . who's looking forward to The Ruins? Given the sucking that is The Real World: Cancun, I can't help but look forward to it.

I still find it interesting that they keep casting the Fresh Meat cast for these challenges, over and over and over again. I also heard that most of them were specifically chosen for FM. Meaning, Kenny, Evelyn, Eric, etc. were not cast for RW Austin or Key West because they wanted them for FM. Don't know how true that is or not, but I found it curious.

I don't think it's so much Beth's age that people make fun of. They dislike her, and so get their shots in where they can. Mark's fellow castmembers poked fun at his age during the The Duel 2, but because everyone liked him it didn't come across hatefully. I don't dislike Beth like I used to, but I can see how it's more about her rather than her age that people make fun of.People (deservedly) make fun of Beth's age; why not for Syrus?
Speaking of Mark, he just got the morning show gig on the E! channel. Good for him!

So . . . who's looking forward to The Ruins?
Not me. Last season's Challenge was boring as hell. And the one before it...was it The island? Ugh! So how does The Ruins work? Is it different from the previous challenges?

I'm looking forward to The Ruins based on the trailer and the stories and spoilers I've heard.
Do tell, VTG10005. I don't know why I even care, but I still love hearing the dirt, for some reason.

Agreed. I think Beth's age also tends to come up a lot because she's so damn immature -- if you feel like people like Mark, Timmy and Syrus are pathetic for continuing to do these shows at their age, Beth is that much more pathetic because she's still doing the shows and getting involved in all the he said-she said drama with 21 year olds.I don't think it's so much Beth's age that people make fun of. They dislike her, and so get their shots in where they can. Mark's fellow castmembers poked fun at his age during the The Duel 2, but because everyone liked him it didn't come across hatefully.
Is it wrong that I'm super looking forward to seeing Tonya hit Veronica? I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to haul off and slap her, to be honest.

I like Veronica more than I like Tonya, and even I'm looking forward to it. :) As you and others have said, it's long overdue. However, I think this is only going to add fuel to the "Tonya be crazy" fire.Is it wrong that I'm super looking forward to seeing Tonya hit Veronica? I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to haul off and slap her, to be honest.
Jennbug, I'm going to nosybody some more info from some friends and also check on Vevmo for the full spoilerage. Then I'll post some info. Other TWoPers also have some good scoopage.

No, that sounds about right. Though, it doesn't martyr Tonya in my eyes, I think she does have a tendency to own up to things more than Veronica does. But has always been a cry baby. I hate that, as well. Hmmm.

I was watching some videos of Battle of the Sexes and I can't get over how freaking gorgeous Antoine was. I wish he'd come back and do a challenge.
Also while watching BOTS, I noticed how much nicer the contestants were to each other. They didn't take the competition as seriously as they do now and it was just good fun. I wish that atmosphere could come back. The show was way more enjoyable back then.

I think the Challenges weren't as competitive back then because they were still pretty new. Battle of the Sexes was only one Challenge removed from the old-school ones with the buses, which weren't really cut-throat because nobody got voted off. At this point, there have been so many with the same people, some of whom still haven't won... which makes them that much more competitive and determined to win on the next one. I think that's why people like Johnny Bananas and Paula get worse with every Challenge; they're just sick of losing. I'm curious to see if Johnny's calmed down some, now that he's won. Also while watching BOTS, I noticed how much nicer the contestants were to each other. I can understand why out of the 17 million people Tonya's been on shows with, only a handful like her. But I can't help it but love her because she is just so ridiculous. Like, who else would be on one Challenge as a soft-core porn actress and show up on another one a year later living in rural Nebraska and working at the fucking grocery store? I will be so disappointed if she doesn't get an interview during the first episode because I am dying to know what random thing she's doing this year. Is she studying for the Minnesota bar exam? Did she use her winnings from the South Africa Challenge to open up her own stained-glass workshop? The world is her oyster. No, that sounds about right. Though, it doesn't martyr Tonya in my eyes, I think she does have a tendency to own up to things more than Veronica does. But has always been a cry baby. I hate that, as well. Hmmm.
I have mixed feelings about Veronica. I love when she comes back because she is great TV -- has she ever been on a show without having a feud with at least two of the other girls? But I don't actually like her as a person. She's a bitch, but not in a sarcastic, comedic way like Coral -- Veronica is just mean. From a strategic standpoint, I get why she'll target people like Sarah and Katie, who both managed to win but still pretty much suck as competitors. But she always has to be so Heathers about it that I can't help but think she gets a kick out of making people feel like crap. I said I couldn't believe it's taken this long for someone to hit her, but now that I do a quick run-through of Veronica's enemies from various seasons... now I really can't believe it's taken this long for someone to hit her. Ayanna, Katie and Tonya are some crazy bitches.

It's funny to look back on the first Battle of the Sexes and see how rampant demanding Emily was of Veronica's booting because of what a mean person Veronica was, yet Emily got the bad edit. Then we see her on later seasons and realize that Emily was pretty much right all along.I have mixed feelings about Veronica. Here is what I have so far. Not sure about the accuracy of all the bits yet but most of it is legit info...Do tell, VTG10005. I don't know why I even care, but I still love hearing the dirt, for some reason.
-- The final Champions team made up of Susie, Derrick, Evan, Kenny, Johnny beat the final Challengers team made up of KellyAnne and Sarah.
-- Shavoun goes home due to an injury (her implant?), Tonya goes home for hitting Veronica, and Darrell and Brad go home for fighting each other.
-- Wes hates Kenny because he feels Kenny is to blame for not getting back together with Johanna, setting up the Wes vs his own team storyline because Kenny is in alliance with Johnny, Evan, Derrick, Johanna, and Susie, I think. Not sure who else may be in it.
-- The show is pimping the Kenny/Johanna/Wes/KellyAnne/Cohutta dynamic, although it's rumored that Wes still loves Johanna, who has moved on. I'm not saying this is the real story, only what it seems the show is going to milk.
-- It seems KA built a reputation with some of the guys on the Challenge and it comes into play here with people hating each other. I'm not sure if they're going to name names or use this as part of the explanation as to why KA is at odds with quite a few people here. Same with Wes.
Kim called KA out on this (she said KA had slept with most of the guys at the Ruins, pre-Ruins) and pretty much showed open dislike for her at the Duel reunion (which was filmed after the Ruins), but I don't think her comments made the final cut.
-- Supposedly, Johnny, Kenny, and Evan are not supposed to come off as such assholes this challenge. We'll see.
-- Diem and Evelyn are surprisingly eliminated in the first few episodes. Diem is first woman out in competition for the Challengers by Tonya, and KA is rumored to have taken out Ev. Chet is unsurprisingly first one out for Challenger men by Wes, who gets thrown into the Ruins repeatedly by his teammates because he supposedly tries to sabotage the team.

Damn. I was following this since the spoilers first started coming out, and I was only hanging on this long in the slim hope that KellyAnne and Sarah pull out the AMAZING upset. Now that they didn't, I have no reason to watch Evan, Kenny and Johnny win more money.
I can't believe I'm saying this - but for the first time ever, I am flat out skipping a Challenge.

Does anyone have a confirmed list on who will exactly be there? I'm surprised to see Brianna from Hollywood on this one because the only one I remember from the Hollywood cast was the blonde chick (her name escapes me right now).

Team Challenger: Brad, Diem, Danny from Austin, Adam from Paris, Dummybear, Fresh Meat Casey, Chet and Sarah from Brooklyn, Cohutta, Kelly Anne, Bri Nick and Kim from Hollywood, and the ever-trashbaggy Shauvon.

and the ridiculously beautiful and forgotten Ibis from Road Rules: Something.
She's from Road Rules: Extreme. And she may be pretty but she's BORING.
I am actually happy Wes is going to be in it. He's good at creating some over the top antics.
