(Yahoo says:) With the crisis in Bon Temps careening out of control, Bill seeks out the advice of Sophie-Anne, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, but must exercise patience before she gives him critical information. Meanwhile, Sookie and Lafayette find that protecting Tara from herself is more difficult than they anticipated; a desperate Sam turns to an unlikely source for assistance; and Jessica tests Hoyt’s allegiance to Maxine.

For the first time this season, I don't mind waiting two weeks until the next ep - although seeing Eric in that gorgeous suit was pretty sweet.

I do believe this episode was the first time Maryann ever raised her voice, let alone swore. It was shocking.
Michelle Forbes is amazing in this role.

I also don’t wanna know what that snakey thing was dude was fondling in the sink. I’m hoping it was an actual snake, but I’m almost afraid to ask.
I’m glad the defilement of Gran’s house was addressed; after Sookie saw Tara return to get Eggs and destroy Gran’s things, I think there’s serious harm done to their relationship, even when Sookie understands that Tara is under Maryann’s influence. Bon Temps in the aftermath of Maryann’s chaos is going to be quite interesting.
How much of Tara manipulating Lettie Mae was Tara, and how much was Maryann’s influence? Or was that simply the anger and hatred Tara feels towards her mother naturally coming out? If it was Maryann’s influence, it would suggest how strongly Tara truly wants to be with Eggs, no matter the consequences.

Fangtasia was the best part. Eric, Pam, and the kids was total hilarity. "Teacup humans!" Bwah.
As usual, I don't care about Tara and Eggs.
ETA: Oh, and Eric's windblown just-flew-to-NOLA hair was too funny.

I can’t say I cared for ERW as the Queen;
She made Bill play Yahtzee and suggested that Bill and Eric screw. Words. . . fail me.
And I love how the Queen is aware of the constant Bill/Eric pissing matches. I wonder how far back this 'relationship' goes?
So Lafayette's having Eric!Sex dreams. Why couldn't we see these??? For that matter, who wants to bet that Eric gets all pissed off and territorial once he realizes that Maryanne has stolen his Lafayette?

I didn't like the Queen's acting (I forget the actress's name, and now I have no reason to try to remember). Happy to see the return of 'bad' Eric, as I didn't care for the sappy Eric in Sookie's dreams. I guess I just prefer the bad boys.

I also liked that Eric's hair was a little out of place when he walked up to Bill. I have a feeling some major shit is going to hit the fan between Eric and Bill and I can't wait to see it!!

ERW annoyed me too. She's such a great actress! What the hell went wrong?
Eric in a charcoal gray suit. I never thought anyone could look better than Don Draper in one, but of course that crazy Swede just proved me wrong.
And Sexy Bill is back!

The Queen really wasn't all that. She seemed starved for some vampire companionship or something. But, Bill looked so good this week. Almost coming close to his pilot hotness.
Usually, I enjoy Pam and Eric's delightful bitchery, but talking about how tastey children are... ew, I'll pass. Squicky.
Lastly, all the "humans" in this episode were driving me crazy. Bunch of morons, all of them, even Lafayette! Though, I did enjoy Jason and Andy bonding. All those quips about what Sam could do if he turned into a dog or chicken. But, I've come to the conclusion that he is just not... sane. Jason is batshit crazy. I'm certain of it.

Beyond blending hot and creepy so flawlessly and with such sexy hair (his talk with Arlene's kids both icked me out and made me swoony), this character brought up the one thing that I really wish Sookie took Bill to task on re: the night they met. Maybe Bill honestly did not mean anything by it, but he really should have said "oh, btw, that healing blood may make you hot for me so anything we enter into will be suspect". This and his non-explained relationship with the Vampire Queen (who was both annoying and delightful much like Bill himself) really make me wonder just how much he straddles that line between humanity and being vampire. Maybe these two vampires aren't so different, in which case Sookie needs to effing run.
WTF is with the Maryann plot? Where did the egg come in? Is the God Who Comes supposed to spooge on it or something? I feel like something was missing, probably when the Vampire Queen was being all annoying and delightful. Still, I like how Eric came into this not for Sookie's whiny ass, but for Sam...and how exactly does Sam know him? Ergh, damn you show...
I just loved the direction of this episode, and in particular the use of Gran's house and the creepiness that went with it all. Only nitpick I had was that it was dusk when Sookie sauntered into the house and dark when she got free from the Coroner's grasp and in that time Lafayette was left alone outside with a shitload of crazies and a demi-god (or wannabe pseudo-immortal). Couldn't she have stop that shit sooner rather than later? Yeesh, Sook.

Hoyt's mom - further into the Paula Dean comparison. Is she ever nasty. Hoyt just taking it and taking it ...how do you repair that damage?
Not a fan of this version of the queen. Hopefully it will grow better or she won't last long.

Teacup humans! Eric can fly!! (In a cool Nathan Petrelli way, at that!) And he has a gorgeous smile (when he was walking away from Pam in that one Fangtasia scene, WOW.)
I kinda liked the Queen. She was cracking me up. And I totally agree, Bill and Eric should just fuck each other and get it over with :) We can all watch, as well.
Jason was cracking me UP with his questions. Has Sam ever turned into a dog and had sex with a female dog? Can Sam turn into a chicken and lay his own egg? ROFL. I had to pause the DVR after each of those thoughts to laugh.
But speaking of eggs (whaaaat the heck...) and Sam - I'm really really scared for my scruffy boy :(
ETA: YES I was like OH SNAP when Eric called Bill on Sookie drinking his blood. Funny we were commenting on that last week! Also Lafayette has wet dreams about Eric lol! Wish we could see one of those ;)

I can’t say I cared for ERW as the Queen; her performance reminded me too much of the girls in high school who really fancied themselves great actresses and completely missed the mark. She might as well have just stood there and said, "I'm supposed to be eccentric."
Agreed
Jason and Andy, the dynamic duo. Loved them.
Lafayette--NOOOOOO
Am I the only one that would love to see Maryanne's demise by being burned at the stake or a huge explosion? She has damaged Bon Temps beyond repair...I think.
Jane cutting off her finger-ick!
I think sink boy was playing with something's guts, not a snake.
Poor Bud, he will probably want to die of embarrassment if and when he learns how he acted.
Two weeks, c'mon HBO...what am supposed to do? Watch football---Ok :)

I'm glad they circled back and dealt with the fact that Sookie drank Bill's blood and then got involved with him and also whether Lafayette was attracted to Eric after he drank his blood
ME TOO!!! Thank God that was finally addressed; and Eric had a valid point I thought. (FTR~I"m not an Eric OR a Bill shipper). While Bill is riding on his high horse about Eric tricking Sookie into drinking his blood, Bill gave Sookie his blood the second night they met....after she was attacked and nearly died because Bill was late....I agree with Eric on that, how convenient. We've never seen him be late after that.

Jason's musings about Sam's shifting abilities were somehow topped by his reflection that he has watched a lot of porn (a tough life indeed). Andy and Jason teaming up is an inspired comic duo.
Interesting and smart choice having Evan Rachel Wood lay out the themes of the season. Her later scenes were sublime acting genius, a concoction of delicately played hedonistic spirit and disguised detachment. Ball has smartly gotten away from the glacial Queen of the books. The one problem with Wood (a divisive actress among many due to her personal life) is the performance may be too sharp opposite Moyer but Moyer does a solid job kind of holding his own.

I agree about ERW not working as Sophie-Anne. It was like she was trying too hard to be the bored, unaffected yet very childish Queen. Plus, I kept thinking back to Thirteen. Ironically enough, I think Nikki Reed would've made a better Queen.
Poor Lafayette. I was seriously hoping that Maryann wouldn't have gotten to him.

This episode just didn't... do it for me. It was all over the place and I was wanting to slap a couple of characters (Tara, I'm looking at you.)
Although I did love Lafayettes: "Someone needs to slap that bitch." line.
All in all it was just meh.

But overall, that episode left me feeling a little queasy, actually. It hurts to see Lafayette so traumatized. It's by far the worst thing Eric's done on this show, imo, and it's just so awful seeing L suffer. And I hate seeing Tara so broken. Hate. It. And poor Jane cutting off her finger?! Jebus. She may be a drunk, but she didn't deserve that. Jessica is still one of the most tragic characters I've ever seen. Hoyt getting his world turned upside down. Oy. The episode left me feeling grossed out, so I was kind of glad when it was over. That freakshow going on in Sookie's house was creepy as hell. Please tell me that guy bathing in her sink wasn't holding his own meat and two vegg? I don't know why that thought popped in my head, but it did and once it was in there, I couldn't get it out. And now I'm feeling urpy.
But what the fuck was that giant egg?! And did Maryanne lay it?!

Yes, interesting that the Queen knew Bill had had Sookie's blood (either that was a plot on their part or Bill has learned how to use the numbers keys to type) and that Bill is lying to Halley too. What a snake!
I think this was the only thing that happened in this episode. It seems that the Queen knows about Sookie.

I thought this episode was the right mix of creepy and hilarious. Eric humoring the kids; Andy and Jason going 'Lethal Weapon'; Karl accidentally biting it, etc. Glad to see that they clarified that Lafayette was having crazy Eric sex dreams too. I felt so bad for him when he saw Eric in Lettie Mae. I have to hand it ASkars - aside from being distractingly hot, he's really good. He embodied some of the actresses quirks when embodying Lettie Mae. He did the same thing when he took on Andy B - he did the same scowl and slight jaw quake the Chris Bauer does. Well done.
I also loved Eric being all 'Uh, don't get bitchy with about the blood *pause* RATTREYS!'
I think the finger chomping scene is going to haunt me dream tonight though.
ETA *because I'm a slow typer, so it didn't show up until after I posted. Anyway: this*
This is pure speculation on my part, but I think Sookie was kind of initially paralyzed by the rapeyness of the coroner's overture. I think she just stepped out of her body for a while preparing for what she thought was inevitable (Thanks Late Uncle Toucher!) and only snapped out of it when she realized he wasn't going to force himself on her. That's when she took concrete action.Only nitpick I had was that it was dusk when Sookie sauntered into the house and dark when she got free from the Coroner's grasp
