(Yahoo TV says:) A wounded Eric plays Sookie for a sucker, to Bill’s dismay, and ends up getting inside her head. Later, Sookie and Jason bond over their recent adventures. Blaming Eggs for Tara’s bruises and bizarre behavior, Lafayette and Lettie Mae try to figure out a way to pry their kin from Maryann’s clutches. Hoyt defends his relationship with Jessica to Maxine, to no avail. Jailed by Bud along with a group of Bon Temps revelers, Sam looks for a way to escape and avoid capture by an increasingly obsessed Maryann. In Dallas, Eric and the vampires defend their recent actions to Nan Flanagan, and are shocked when Godric decides to take the fall for their PR disaster.

I've had the phrase "Godric christ" in my head all week, so tonight was no surprise on that front.

Gotta love Sam as The Fly. Does he get Bono shades?

Eric is just too hot. Bill who?

How can a one hour be so funny, so scary, so sexy and so sad at the same time. Awesome episode.

That first scene with Eric was completely awesome.

And yeah Lafayette!!! The actress playing Tara was scary good as she was being carried out.

The final scene between Eric & Godric was powerful. For Eric to show that vulnerability showed just how much he will love & miss Godric and that it went beyond just maker/makee. It was a tear jerking moment & it was played wonderfully by both Allen Hyde & ASkars.

Alexander was very good in this episode. Hope the boy that played Godric get lots of work.

Jason has really come into his own as a character over the past few episodes and I hope he forms a friendship with Eric.

Laff -kicked ass tonight

Sookie and Eric stuff was funny as hell.

Bill is a wet blanket

The only couple on this show that really interests me at the moment is Jessica/Hoyt. There are REAL foundations with these two and I hope they last together.

The character of Godric was just too good, huh. Well acted and... yet we're stuck without him.

The Eric/Sookie scenes only made me not want Eric/Sookie. Although Eric is a beautiful man.

Jason/Sookie seems to be one of the few pairs I like Sookie in scenes with.

Cannot believe they let Stan go like that. Really?

And Jessica/Hoyt are too adorable. It should be bottled and sold.

Um, so is Sookie's house still Maryann central now that Tara's gone?

Sookie looks lovely. This season has been funky for her, but she was pretty as a picture during this episode. On a shallow not.

And I hate to say this, but Sookie and Jason have SOOO much inappropriate chemistry. It's driving me batty. Why can't she have that with Bill or Eric?

I laughed when Eric cried. Best written scene of the show, was no doubt Godric's death, Anna Paquin stepped it up, but Eric is a horrid actor...

Lastly, Lafayette and Lettie Mae (sp?) kidnapping Tara. My highlight of the night!

There was nothing wrong with Godric. Just those around him.

That was perfection, it really was.

I am really curious as to how Godric's death can affect relations with the human community. His sacrifice was beautiful, but effective? I'm not sure. And Bill's heartbreak was played so well by Moyer- you could feel Bill's knowledge that he's lost Sookie to Eric. Its amazing how fast it happened- but they really sold it. And Eric has finally started to turn into BookEric- he was always sexy, but kind of a sociopath. Tonight's Eric was sexy and funny, but CLEARLY capable of love- and fully into Sook. Welcome! You were missed!

This was a great, great episode that elevated my opinion of what the show could really be. I think I have to do a re-watch at 11:30 to get a better sense of everything.

I knew that Godric's sacrifice was coming, but I am sad that it happened. In a very short period of time, I got attached to the character. He will be missed (unlike Lorena- although her role here made a lot of sense).

Holy crap! What a great episode.

Lafayette! Lafayette! Lafayette! WOOO! Kick some ass, hooker!

Eric's "suck it out" scene at the beginning, I knew it was a trap, but I wanted her to do it. Is that wrong? When he started to smile, I busted out laughing.

The dream sequence made me light-headed, the end made me cry. I loved that Sookie wanted to be with Godric when he died. I hated to see Eric cry.

I loved Sookie's talk with Jason. I feel hopeful for him.

Sheriff Isabella makes me happy, Nan Flannigan needs some silver, though.

And STFU Maxine. Hoyt's right, you're full of hate.

I believe it. If he didn't die at the beginning. He would have died at the end because Nan Flanagan would not have let him get off no matter what Godric would have said.

When Godric was meeting the sun all I could think was how stupid it was that they were killing off this character at the beginning of the episode - then I looked at the time and saw it was over. Well Shit! That hour went fast.

I loved Hoyt defending his relationship against the evil hateful vile creature that is his mother.

Goodbye, Vampire Jesus. Goodbye.

Even with the 1000 symbolism anvils falling, that was still powerful. The only thing I didn't like, and this is nitpicky, is that I wish it had been written that Sookie come into that scene at the end of Eric and Godric's exchange on the roof.* She was just standing there, which felt a little voyeuristic, and I'm surprised Eric didn't acknowledge that she was there. Otherwise, it was perfect that Sookie was there for Godric at the end.

I still don't understand where Nan Flanagan fits in the vampire hierarchy. She couldn't be older than Godric and Eric (could she?), yet she was bossing them both around. It was nice to finally see her fangs out, as the PR savvy persona isn't the real her.

*I know that sets up Sookie seeing a completely different side of Eric, but it still didn't quite ring true for me.

What a truly epic, game-changing heartbreaking episode. I haven’t always been thrilled with all the changes Alan Ball has made from the books, but for this episode only – he surpassed my wildest book dreams! This episode WAS MADE OF WIN…

You’re right Eric. “This is the beginning” of so many things – they’ve set it all up beautifully. Such fabulous acting tonight, but two thumbs up to ALLAN MOTHER FING HYDE! Woo… and Alexander and Anna. Wow. That roof scene killed me.

First off, oh my God they killed Stan you bastards! And R.I.P Luke – you moron. R.I.P. Eric’s hot racerback black tank top. Here’s to hoping he has others. The body count just gets higher.

Drink every time we hear that Eric is 1000 and Godric is 2000 yrs. old

Random Thoughts:
  • Godric asking Sookie to care for Eric, her holding Eric’s hand as he walked out… I am seeing significance in all of it.
  • Maryann storyline EPIC FAIL… And dragging – where is this headed?!
  • Newlins fighting with each other on national TV. Genius (and I love that Steve still has a bruise on his head from the paintball). “May I just finish my thoughts? If he’s not the center of attention he just flips out.” “I hate your hair.” Ha!
  • Lafayette for the win! I love me some manly ass-kicking Lafa.
  • “Can I see the freezer?” Did someone really ask Arlene if they could see where someone was murdered? Ew! It’s a miracle they make any money at Merlotte’s the way they keep kicking out their customers and treating them like crap. (Then again the customers there really suck)
  • Arlene says about Daphne “She was clumsy, stupid and mean but I wouldn’t wish that kind of death on a possum.” Interesting a possum was drowned on this show… by the 1st woman who’s heart was found missing at Merlotte’s. coincidence? Nice continuity writers…
  • Yay Hoyt stand-up to your mama! She does hate everyone (poor Jessica, she really tried).
  • Terry and Arlene are kind of adorable in their own f*cked up way. He doesn’t “mean to be peculiar” to her…
Eric Wonderful moments (and God there were many):
  • His acting/fake dying when he’s asking Sookie to suck the bullets out, but then starts smiling hand behind his head when she’s sucking on his chest. HIGH-LARIOUS.
  • “Bill, You’re right I believe I can sense her emotions.” Anyone else notice that when Sookie hits his chest there’s a loud thud. Skarsgard is jacked.
  • Let’s not even discuss that dream sequence except to say who’s posting screencaps like now (favorite part – which I rewound, when he laughs and says “Greedy…I love it!” And the way he keeps kissing her hands? DIES. PASSES OUT… Goes to Eric boards to Squee) The writers threw Lorena in that scene just so we could breathe.
  • Defending Godric and wanting to kick Nan Flanagan’s ass.
  • The crying (high-pitched crying but whatever). So, so moving
Questions:
  • So how is it that because Sookie had a few drops of Eric’s blood she is now attracted to him, but she has had quarts of Bill’s. So is their bond blood-based or is it because of (take a shot) Eric’s 1000 year old blood?
  • Does Bud not realize his town is in bad shape and something is up? – I mean your neighbors and people you’ve known for many, many years are acting like freaks! He can’t deny the crazy now that Maryann let go of all his prisioners.
  • How many things can Sam turn into? A Fly now?!
  • Since Jessica seems to be so in control, can she at least call her parents to tell them she’s alive but a vampire rather than letting them think she’s dead (‘cause I am sure Bill erased the hell out of their memories a few weeks ago)
  • Anyone else notice how much stronger Lafayette was than Eggs. You know Maryann is gonna want to take over Lafayette any second now.
  • Also, anyone else notice how Sookie was full on undressing Eric with her eyes when they were meeting with Nan Flanagan? Did you see the way she stared at him?! And at one pt, Bill noticed that she was staring too…
  • Lyle Lovett – “I will rise up,” also beautiful. Am starting to sense a pattern with these songs. Are the episode titles always the song titles? I know they contain lyrics but this is the 1st song I’ve fully recognized.

Man alive does this show need less "Sookie is MINE" Bill. It's like his Sookie love took him out of what was a damn emotional moment filled with torturous angst, love, political intrigue...why the hell patronize Sookie for actually looking beyond her own shit and being supportive? It completely took me out of Godric's goodbye...
...until AS acted the ever loving shit out of saying goodbye to his maker. Was in high contrast to Bill's send off of Lorena and spoke volumes of how much a maker-relationship matters.

Speaking of...I need to stop watching True Blood with my boyfriend. It's hard as hell to watch AS be all emotional and cute in Sookie's hawt fantasy and beautifully anguished watching his maker about to commit suicide when I can't swoon appropriately.

Sam as the fly is the saddest thing ever. I am glad that he was creative in his prison break, but to go so low and see such evil warp his one time lover and have to fly off to the town drunk is the worst thing. I do hope this season ends with Sam getting his.

It didn't bother me much, this episode made it clear Eric would do anything for Godric and I wasn't surprised he didn't acknowledge her.

Lafayette was on tonight he loves his family.

Am I wrong to hope for more Godric flashbacks? I mean - we have 2000 years that we could see at some point - he was so wonderful!

When Bill was explaining to Sookie how she would now be sexually attracted to Eric was I the only one waiting for her to ask if it was the same for the two of them?

The Sookie-Jason scene was actually tear-jerking. Really!

Nan Flannigan needs some silver, though.

I love her. No one fucks with Nan Flannigan. And, on the opposite spectrum, Newlands crack me up so bad. I really would like to watch a live debate between all three parties.

Also, Jason needs to go after Hoyt's mama with his paintball gun. Speaking of... Ryan Kwanten still the best actor on this show. Stephen Moyer, Bill is doormat, but damn if he didn't make it palpable that Bill was losing Sookie right before his own eyes and hanging on with all he has left.

I want Bill and Lorena going at it, viciously, once Sookie exits the Bill landscape. Or I should change this as to when Bill exits the Sookie landscape...

The problem is, Ryan Kwanten is just one of those actors who has chemistry with everyone and everything. Even the Hotel bathrobes, which we've seen worn by Bill, Sookie, Hoyt, and Jessica, seem more plush and luxurious when worn by RK. I love Jason in spite of all my better instincts, and it's largely because Ryan is just such a good actor.

Eric is still the most unappealing character on this show to me. Just because he cried a few bloody tears for Godric doesn't mean all the other underhanded and manipulative things about him go away. And I still find the acting terribly one-note. Bill may be a wet blanket, but at least there's a range of blanket-y emotions.

For the first time this season I found myself interested in the Tara storyline - and I think that's because Lafayette became involved in it. Lafayette makes everything better.

Poor Sam. Poor, poor Sam. Having to walk, metaphor hat in hand and in reality buck naked, to Andy Bellefleur for help is not anyone's idea of a good day.

And tell them what? That she was changed against her will? The vamps are dealing with a PR disaster as it is. Presumably Jessica is still listed as a missing person with milk carton photos etc. What if Sheriff Budd or someone else finally recognizes her?

Yes to this, he knows I like to watch alone and yet he kept sneaking in. Doesn't help that I called him Eric earlier today during a rewatch.

Eric so well acted the bullet suck scene, I almost thought he was serious, until we got to the second one.
His roof scene was awesome, I think AS is the best actor on this show.

I kinda wish they would have shown Stan's bloody cowboy hat or something, not just the throwaway line.
