Frank's mother was out of her mind and way out of date when she claimed that old television with the fake wood paneling was worth a lot of money. She might have paid a lot of money for it in 1986 but that old tv isn't worth a nickel today.

I doubt she paid for it at all. I'm assuming that when VH1 moved the family into that rented house, it came furnished, or else a set decorator went right to work on it. I really can't imagine the Marescas going to the trouble moving all their own stuff from Rockland County down into the city and then moving it all back again after the show stopped taping.

I just assumed all that stuff was bought at other yard sales/thrift shops by PAs solely for the purpose of staging this challenge. I'm sure nothing in the house belongs to the Marescas except the family pictures, and I would bet those are copies. I'm equally sure all Susan's lines in her confessionals are written or at least tweaked by a producer/story editor. Possibly Frank's as well, but he's been through this several times before and no doubt knows by now how to give good confessional without coaching.

I think you're underestimating the number of people who are fine with the older technology at the right price, but she should have known it couldn't possibly go for even ten cents on the dollar plugged in and demonstrated to be working, much less just sitting on the table.

Or, they cleaned out their prop department a little.

I was pulling for Jenny until yesterday. BOY is she CONCEITED!! I am now on the Annie train. She is just quirky enough to keep him interested and normal enough to keep his parents interested. It would be a nice cinderella story if she won over all the other women

Oh, Jenny, Jenny, Jenny...

What a disappointment. I thought she was really cute right until this episode. Every time she opened her mouth, I liked her less. It seemed that Frank did, too. Feh.

I felt bad to see Tiny Tammy go, poor thing.

I thought jenny was a sure to win but I was disappointed to learn that sheis conceited and has a total sense of entitlment. Normally, these personality flaws are a sure fire way to make sure she is in the top 4, but so far I'm feeling like this show is different. So based on what I'[ve seen so far combo with Jenny in the bottom 2...Jenny is gone...Annie is in the top 6 at least.

I've been really surprised by how much I'm enjoying this. To me, Frank seems much more likable here than on his previous VH1 shows, and I actually find the interactions between him and his parents kind of charming. He actually seems both interested in and respectful of the girls, and I think he and Annie make a cute couple. I am now going to stare at the ceiling and try to figure out how Frank the Entertainer ended up with the most wholesome show on VH1.

You and me both....I caught the early show on the East Coast today and all I can say is wow. Frank and his little show have grown on me. These girls for the most part seem like decent girls, some delluded, but decent none the less.

I really got a Chester the Moleser vibe from Frank's uncle.

Guess Jenny isn't all she claims to be....I'm not the internet sleuth....does anyone know what type of porn she did/was doing. That being said, I don't think the porn identified her and she handled her exit w/ class. I guess you can still have racey pictures and not be a ho....

WTH was Annie wearing on her date? Unitard? She seems to really like the jumpsuits...I'm bummed that she seems to have some sort of agenda. I didn't click on her alterego youtube videos...

And my crush for Frank keeps growing.......

This is reportedly the pic that got Jenny booted.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. Pictures of the various Rock of Love chicks floating around the 'net are far worse than that. Given the history of these dating shows, I figured Jenny would have have gotten eliminated before she reached the top four anyway. She came across as being really high on herself so I'm not all that upset to see her go.

I really wasn't expecting much from this show (other than indulging in my own secret, shameful Frank fantasies) so it's really been a pleasant surprise so far. What I really appreciate is that everyone seems reasonable normal and that none of the women seem to be making an effort to create "characters" (a la New York, the Blondtourage or Buckwild). I hope it stays that way.

Thanks for the infamous Jenny photo. I thought it might be a bogus nude photo because the "blurring" looked like she was wearing a white bra. The photo now makes sense because she was wearing a bra and panties and ripping a white t-shirt. The shirt is what I must have seen through the blurring. It was a sexy model shot but really still not the image of the girl she was trying to sell to momma.

AndieMatt Thanks. And I give you props for following Jenny's tweets...taking one for the team...thanks...lol

Not a big deal....but her comments last episode showed she was kinda stuck on herself...I had to laugh at dinner how ratty her weave was...when she was sliding down the waterslide I'm surprised she didn't have it all pulled up. She did pull herself together for her one on one with Frank later that night though.

That? That was it? Granted, I didn't buy the "never had a boyfriend", and didn't like the air of superiority I felt coming from her, but that? That doesn't even qualify as NSFW. Did they just need a Toastee does porn moment?

For those of you who watch soaps, Renee reminds me too much of Tamara Braun, who I hated on GH. Even if she wasn't Miss Needy McTries Too Hard, that's enough for me to dislike her.

Just realized where I know Cathy from: she was on the first season of "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" on ABC. She was by far the most annoying cast member, everyone hated her. Wonder if that will come out on the show.

And according to Bourgy.com, Kerry used to be a casting director for MTV. They posted a blog post of Kerry's where she discusses her duties working in casting and says that she'd really prefer to be in front of the camera. So it appears that both girls are probably "there for the wrong reasons," but Kerry is still one of my faves, along with Annie and Dana.

Saracuda Are you sure?

I googled " cathy from I survived a japanese game show" and found this: I Survived a Japanese Game Show

I watched that show last summer and none of the girls look familar to me...unless there were two cathy's on I Survived A Japanese Game Show.

She was on the first season of the show, which aired in 2008. IIRC she was one of the first to go home. She's listed as Cathy Nardone on the show's IMDB page (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1245566/) and if you Google her full name the first picture that comes up is her cast photo from the show (http://l.yimg.com/l/...80624120105.jpg).

Edited to add: Whoops! I see breathespink beat me to it! shopper gal, I don't recall her being involved in a romance, but it's been a long time. IIRC everyone in the house thought she was a mega bitch and she complained all the time.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is.

Frank stated that he likes porn and it wasn't the picture that bothered him, it was how her attitude didn't match the type of person that would do a photo like that. I see what he means. I mean, if she was really a girl that was so shy she never had a bf, or was uncomfortable with lots of affection, then how could she stand in front of the camera and take a picture like that. It just doesn't add up.

Dana needs to run a comb through her weave. It's really knotty, and it makes her only look uglier.

If anyone's ever seen the show Girlfriends, Jenny reminded me of the character Toni Childs. Jenny is on some bourgie shit and really does buy into some out-dated view that men are supposed to grovel at her feet whilst wooing her because she's so gorgeous and precious. And she also seems to have some sort of mixed-up madonna/whore complex going on.

She seems very invested in being a "good girl" who hasn't had a BF and isn't overtly sexual, but clearly trades on her looks and does silly Smooth magazine-esque photo shoots. If she does ever find a boyfriend, I'm sure she'd be a high-maintenance mess to deal with. I had to laugh at their romantic date on Coney Island!! That beach is so nasty. And cheese whiz on Ritz crackers!

I love how the producers are totally going all out to make this the anti-VH1 dating show and prove how salt-of-the-earth Frank and his family are. The family dinners are hilarious! Craft service must be having a field day. And a special visit by wacky uncle Benny? And really, is it that unusual that someone works as a funeral home director? I really hope Annie gets outed next for not being here for the "right" reasons.

Usually by now, on these shows, there at least 2 or 3 of the women that I like & wouldn't mind if they won...but not this show. The only one that I like so far is Annie, and those youtube videos are kinda ruining it for me. It was really painful for me to try to get through just one of those. She came off as one of the biggest ditzes (sp?) I've ever heard. Seriouly annoying. Eh, I'll still root for her.

I am loving Frank. I almost got to the point where I didn't like him when he was on ILM, but he seems really mellowed out when there aren't people there egging him on & trying to manipulate him for the sake of competition and money.

Annie is blogging about her experience on the show for BUST Magazine. Some info from the VH1 blog:

Annie joined A Basement Affair originally “to do a wacky performance piece, attempting to play up the ridiculousness that is reality television and the characters it produces, a satire on a genre that is already a satire of itself. I was interested in the way reality television is reproducing female stereotypes at an alarming rate—using ‘real’ people to validate these stereotypes’ existence.”

Interestingly, Annie writes about only being able to keep up the guise for so long: though she auditioned in character, once in the house “the pressure to perform (both for my own artistic goals and for the entertainment of the show itself) crippled me.” And so, the real Annie emerged and that legitimate persona just happened to dig Frank. In the end, something perhaps even less likely than joining reality TV for socially conscious reasons emerged: “I wanted to legitimately compete in a game for his affections (rather than camera time) because I believed that would be the most ridiculous thing to do. And that was what no one else was really doing.”

It should be interesting to follow her blogs as the show progresses, because at this point she seems like a real front runner.

Did anyone think that Frank's Dad was a little too upset at Jenny last night? I'm used to his mother saying mean things to the girls but his Dad was rather nasty and kept going after her when she was walking away and not really saying anything back.

I thought it was really rude and disrespectful of him. If I was Jenny I would have grabbed the picture and walked out before any of the lectures started coming from any of their mouths. Get over it. You knew her for a week. Move on.

It may have been a case of using the picture as an excuse to get rid of someone who would be considered a "moulinyan". Perhaps the family is a little prejudiced. Just a theory. Tony Soprano gave me that idea.

I couldn't be bothered to watch this show in its entirety other than the second(?) episode and the end of the most recently one so after seeing the photo of Jenny and reading the interview I'm surprised (but not really) that there was all this hullabaloo about a picture. And to be there only 5 days? I completely agree with everything she said.

The photo was just something they could sensationalize. It was pretty obvious that Jenny was a model looking for exposure and didn't care about Frank. Not that everyone else is there for him, but any contestant that can't maintain the pretense deserves to be booted.

I don't know what to make of Renee. On one hand, she is woefully clingy and appears prone to emotional disturbances. I cringe when I watch her with Frank. On the other hand, it does seem like the rest of the girls are being terribly nasty toward her, though I'm aware that VH1 reality shows are the best place for that. It seems particularly nasty this time around, and I was disappointed to see ANNIE of all people bringing the claws out. The moment Annie walked into the house they had plenty of comments about her look and general eccentric demeanor, but the tide has turned. I didn't take into account Annie would be a catty bitch, performance artist or not. Disappointing to see. I do think Renee needs to dial it down a lot, but for some reason I feel uncomfortable watching them all snark on her, and I usually have no qualms with that on a show like this.

Anyway, I know there is plenty that we don't see.

I also think that Jenny was effin' gorgeous and agree that she had more class/respect in her exit than Frank's family. I highly doubt she's the only one in the batch with ill intentions, and titty model or not she had dignity when leaving.

I really, really dislike Cathy and Kerry.
