From Zap2it:

Earl apologizes to a woman (Betty White) for all the trouble he caused her as a kid; Joy tries to prove that she has a nice side.

Other than the almost too quick wrapup, I loved this episode. I'm glad to see that Earl can put the list down once in awhile.

Betty White has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and this was a real treat to see her again. She looks terrific.

Hey Greg, did she come to you guys as a fan and say, "I'd love to be on the show"? Or did you guys approach her?

Betty was fantastic as the Witch Lady. With that long white wig and those glasses, she nailed the part of an older woman who may or may not be a witch. Throwing the drugged bodies down the stairs while stuffed in burlap sacks was awesome.

The last mini-scene with Joy making Darnell dinner and then him cursing at her while he slams the food to the floor was sweet and fun.

I loved seeing Betty White too - best guest appearance emmy? She seemed really strong and healthy, compared to seeming a bit frail the last couple of times I've seen her.

Randy trying to throw Catalina under the bus and derisively referring to her as a stripper was kinda odd. Do the writers just want us to forget that his crush and their marriage never existed?

That nitpick aside, funny episode. Betty White is a national treasure.

That was a great episode. But what I don't get is how did Earl survive getting stabbed in the kidneys with a kitchen knife?

The glasses that Betty White wore reminded me so much of Crazy Colleen from last season's Nip/Tuck that I half expected her to pull out a bear stuffing machine and go to town on her captives.

Well, their relationship has cooled a lot since then. Catalina wasn't exactly kind to Randy during the cheerleader episode, and I can't remember, but I think there have been other times where she has been kind of mean to Randy. Besides, being faced with death can obviously bring out the worst in people. I don't know how many of you watched "Firefly", but I was reminded the episode where Book quotes some ancient ruler. Paraphrasing, but it was about how you can know someone for years but never really KNOW them until you are holding them over a volcano.

That struck me as odd as well--so much bitterness. The revelation that BW was Patty's mother was marvelous. Kenny and Stuart? I know I'm going to have fun whenever those two show up.

I'm always happy when the show confirms that Kenny and Stuart are still together. Every time it's been a while since we've seen them it makes me sad. They're my Earl OTP.

I love Kenny, Stuart, and Patty, so I'm always glad when they're included in an episode.

Really liked this episode. Betty White was amazing, and Joy trying to prove that she's nice was hilarious.

She didn't stab him very deeply. Maybe her heart wasn't in it.

I didn't recognize Betty White when she first appeared. That was a great wig she was wearing. Anyway, of course she was great. I love her. What was her name? Grizelda Weezer? I also love that she's Patty's mom. "Hookers have moms?!"

I didn't mind Randy calling Catalina a stripper, though I must admit I've forgotten about his crush on her, not to mention their marriage. Anyway, they were in a tight spot (as Everett from 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' might say), with lots of stress, so all the bad stuff they said can be excused, imo. Who called Patty a whore? Randy or Earl?

I enjoyed seeing Kenny and Stuart. I absolutely loved when Kenny, then Stuart, then Randy, then Earl started crying. I also loved the bit where Earl and Randy are sitting and thinking. The silence went on and on... I really like when the show drags these moments out. I know some people think the joke gets old, but I think they do it just right.

"Which lady? Which lady?"

"Who's the black calling the kettle pot now?"

Great episode, but I was hoping that tv's Tim Stack would end up in the basement.

"Which lady?"

Glad that we got to see more than two seconds of Catalina this time. I loved her line about having developed a high tolerance for roofies over the years. So wrong. So funny.

I lurrvve Betty White, especially in Sue Ann Nevins/ Lake Placid "mean" mode.

"I enjoy the look of terror in their eyes, just before they take a header into the coffee table. It's what I imagine an orgasm to be like." Then tossing them downstairs in a giant burlap bag because it's dramatic.

Earl: "I've heard good things about tea". When Earl regained conciousness in the basement, but thought she was playing a trick on him: "That was a real pants-crapper!"

I enjoy Earl's crying scenes and this one was really good, starting with Kenny, then Stuart, then Randy, and finally Earl all crying.

Who called Patty a whore? Randy or Earl?

I think Stuart started it, then he justified it by saying whores were targets anyway, and she was living on borrowed time. We now know "Patricia" the daytime hooker's mom, but we still don't know anything about her child; she previously made a remark about being the single parent of a teenager. I thought if we heard her backstory, that would be the subject of it. I was really surprised when Grizelda turned out to be her mom.

ETA: We got a good long look at the Heisler Beer at the end of last night's show, both cans and longnecks. It's a made-up or defunct brand, and has been on many episodes of Earl, as well as many other shows, according to Wikipedia. The puzzle that Earl's friend's brother (Brotherly Karma) was putting together had Heisler Beer on it, like some kind of promotional item. They're creating a market for a beer that doesn't even exist. I'm surprised that they haven't product-placed the Camden bars. Perhaps it's forbidden to show characters drinking "real" beer, just as they aren't supposed to show casual smoking.
This is next to the "Carl Hickey learned his wife cheated on him" episode as my favorite of the season.

Betty White is a comic goddess. She is the female Alec Baldwin.

Betty White should think about growing out her hair (or maybe getting a weave) because she was rocking that look!

I think it is a made up brand. I noticed a few weeks that Sam on Burn Notice drinks the exact same kind of beer.

When Patty said 'she wonders why I took Dad's side in the divorce' I almost died!

This show never fails to shock me. And it never fails to make me actually guffaw. At my house though, we call it "Everybody Loves Earl" because I'm like, 90 and get things mixed up.

Welcome back, Stuart. I'm really sorry the spy thing didn't work out, 'cause you truly rocked it. But I'm always thrilled to see you with your Bear Cub.

"It's our responsibility to bury those parts very deeply and go bowling with our straight friends." Oh, Stuart.

"You have a media disease!" You ain't the only one, Kenny.

"Totally innocent, and still might die. Welcome to being gay." So wrong, so funny.

In other non-news, Betty White is indeed a goddess.

This show can never go wrong when Patty and Kenny are part of the story line. I've loved Kenny since the pilot.

LL, I'm with you on Betty White's hair. I thought it looked great on her!

"It's what I imagine an orgasm must feel like". Hee!
