Betty White has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and this was a real treat to see her again. She looks terrific.
Hey Greg, did she come to you guys as a fan and say, "I'd love to be on the show"? Or did you guys approach her?

The last mini-scene with Joy making Darnell dinner and then him cursing at her while he slams the food to the floor was sweet and fun.

That nitpick aside, funny episode. Betty White is a national treasure.

Randy trying to throw Catalina under the bus and derisively referring to her as a stripper was kinda odd. Do the writers just want us to forget that his crush and their marriage never existed?
Well, their relationship has cooled a lot since then. Catalina wasn't exactly kind to Randy during the cheerleader episode, and I can't remember, but I think there have been other times where she has been kind of mean to Randy. Besides, being faced with death can obviously bring out the worst in people. I don't know how many of you watched "Firefly", but I was reminded the episode where Book quotes some ancient ruler. Paraphrasing, but it was about how you can know someone for years but never really KNOW them until you are holding them over a volcano.

That struck me as odd as well--so much bitterness. The revelation that BW was Patty's mother was marvelous. Kenny and Stuart? I know I'm going to have fun whenever those two show up.Randy trying to throw Catalina under the bus and derisively referring to her as a stripper was kinda odd. Really liked this episode. Betty White was amazing, and Joy trying to prove that she's nice was hilarious.

She didn't stab him very deeply. Maybe her heart wasn't in it.But what I don't get is how did Earl survive getting stabbed in the kidneys with a kitchen knife?
I didn't recognize Betty White when she first appeared. That was a great wig she was wearing. Anyway, of course she was great. I love her. What was her name? Grizelda Weezer? I also love that she's Patty's mom. "Hookers have moms?!"
I didn't mind Randy calling Catalina a stripper, though I must admit I've forgotten about his crush on her, not to mention their marriage. Anyway, they were in a tight spot (as Everett from 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' might say), with lots of stress, so all the bad stuff they said can be excused, imo. Who called Patty a whore? Randy or Earl?
I enjoyed seeing Kenny and Stuart. I absolutely loved when Kenny, then Stuart, then Randy, then Earl started crying. I also loved the bit where Earl and Randy are sitting and thinking. The silence went on and on... I really like when the show drags these moments out. I know some people think the joke gets old, but I think they do it just right.
"Which lady? Which lady?"
"Who's the black calling the kettle pot now?"

"I enjoy the look of terror in their eyes, just before they take a header into the coffee table. It's what I imagine an orgasm to be like." Then tossing them downstairs in a giant burlap bag because it's dramatic.
Earl: "I've heard good things about tea". When Earl regained conciousness in the basement, but thought she was playing a trick on him: "That was a real pants-crapper!"
I enjoy Earl's crying scenes and this one was really good, starting with Kenny, then Stuart, then Randy, and finally Earl all crying.
I think Stuart started it, then he justified it by saying whores were targets anyway, and she was living on borrowed time. We now know "Patricia" the daytime hooker's mom, but we still don't know anything about her child; she previously made a remark about being the single parent of a teenager. I thought if we heard her backstory, that would be the subject of it. I was really surprised when Grizelda turned out to be her mom.Who called Patty a whore? Randy or Earl?
ETA: We got a good long look at the Heisler Beer at the end of last night's show, both cans and longnecks. It's a made-up or defunct brand, and has been on many episodes of Earl, as well as many other shows, according to Wikipedia. The puzzle that Earl's friend's brother (Brotherly Karma) was putting together had Heisler Beer on it, like some kind of promotional item. They're creating a market for a beer that doesn't even exist. I'm surprised that they haven't product-placed the Camden bars. Perhaps it's forbidden to show characters drinking "real" beer, just as they aren't supposed to show casual smoking.
This is next to the "Carl Hickey learned his wife cheated on him" episode as my favorite of the season.

I think it is a made up brand. I noticed a few weeks that Sam on Burn Notice drinks the exact same kind of beer.

This show never fails to shock me. And it never fails to make me actually guffaw. At my house though, we call it "Everybody Loves Earl" because I'm like, 90 and get things mixed up.

"It's our responsibility to bury those parts very deeply and go bowling with our straight friends." Oh, Stuart.
"You have a media disease!" You ain't the only one, Kenny.
"Totally innocent, and still might die. Welcome to being gay." So wrong, so funny.
In other non-news, Betty White is indeed a goddess.
