Adam Lambert gets the hometown hero treatment on the San Diego local news: http://www.fox5sandi...amp;feedID=2142
I went to high school with him, so this is a little eerie, but it shows his high school, interviews his choir teacher, and a friend from high school (who also has a FABULOUS voice). There are pictures of him with his natural strawberry-blonde hair, FWIW.
Adam is a wierd contestant to me, because I don't exactly like his voice, but I am mesmerized by him and his performance. It's almost like watching a car crash, but in a good way.

Love, love, love, the edgy stuff he has done on YouTube (see: "I Make You Crazy")
I really hope he goes a long way.
Also, he attended school in San Diego, how can I not root for him?!
(Doubt I will vote though )

I hope he keeps being his fierce, campy self on the show and doesn't let TPTB break his spirit.

I'm really curious how middle America will view his out and proudness replete with boy on boy make-out pics on the 'net. If this were Europe there would be NO problem, but puritanical America? maybe not so much. I am really interested to see what he does on the show myself.
I think America will be just fine with it. American Idol isn't THAT important where folks will care if the potential winner is gay. This show has had ALOT of gay contestants on it so if middle America is still watching the show I doubt they would care if a gay man won.
If Adam loses, it won't be because he's gay. It'll be because not everybody thinks he's the Greatest. I personally don't think he's all that great. Yet. And it's not because he's gay. It's because the show only just started and I have not seen enough of him yet to jump on the bandwagon. But maybe soon I'll be the America's biggest Adam Lambert fan. I don't know.
And I have a feeling Adam is going to have a tough time the closer we get to the finals. Not just him but most of the male contestants. We had two males in the final last year. So this year I think they are really going to be pushing the females.

VFTW gave possible spoilers for some of the upcoming theme weeks that are being discussed in the Speculation thread. I forget whether or not we can bring that info here and discuss possible song choices without spoiler bars.

This is me. I know for the semifinals, it was the swagger that he brought to "Satisfaction" that appealed to me. I'm kinda excited to see what he's going to do next.

I've seen the "Constantine and Clay had a baby" comments around here, and it's funny to me because I strongly disliked Clay and may actually be allergic to Constantine; I mean, I see the musical theater/rocker similarity, but the gross things done by Constantine weren't inherently gross things, they were gross because they were being done by him. I.M.H.O.
I have so much more to say that I think I should stop right here and let someone else talk. Nice to see y'all again!

Adam addresses the recent "drama":
Adam Lambert, 26, Los Angeles, on not giving a crap: "I didn't take that advice to not Google yourself. I did. I saw it all [referring to some photos of him kissing another guy]. My thought? Oh well! It is what it is. It doesn't matter to me." Adam also told us that he hopes to sing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" on the show. "The way I do it, it doesn't sound karaoke."

I am in love with every performance I've seen him do, and I've seen everything YouTube has to offer, so actually...I was all nervous he was going to ruin it by doing something crummy on the show to "fit in."
Now I'm not worried. I expect to get middle-aged-lady-with-gay-TV-boyfriend palpitations every week.

I fucking love this guy, and haven't been this excited about a contestant since the immortal Jacob Hoggard
Ditto, Nocturnal Blond
I want an Adam + Anoop duet! I would die from the awkwardness.

I think he will be the only thing keeping me watching Idol this year. None of the other contestants really intrigue me.

I am amazed by his talent and I hope that I can relax every week knowing that he will almosy always be predictably good.
I like this about him, too. The only contestants I ever felt sure would give me something decent every week were Fantasia and David Cook. Even with their missteps they seemed confident and sure of themselves. I look forward to seeing what Adam will do. Plus he's so hot! Not the best-looking guy, but he is really attractive. I agree with the previous poster, I think it's his swagger.

Looking forward to a great season!

I don't get the "love child of Clay and Constantine" thing either. I am admittedly a fan of Clay, but my reaction to Constantine was as close to hate during his season that I could ever feel for a reality tv show contestant. Constantine is too heteroskeevy to resemble Adam, and Clay does not have the proud peacock strutting outrageousness about him that Adam does. I think that there is a tendency, maybe, to lump the theatrical male singers together. Adam reminds me so much more of a cross between a hair band singer, David Bowie and a drag queen.
Though I'm a Tarheel and must, thus, root for Anoop, half my heart lives with Adam this season, and I plan to root for the both of them. I haven't been this excited about a contestant in several years. I can't wait to see what he brings to the competition.

I knew I was in love the second he walked into that audition room (Me: "My new boyfriend.", Friend: "I don't think you have the parts he likes."). I was smitten when I heard he was in the touring cast of Wicked. And what an awesome surprise to see what an incredible and unique performer he is. Boy can saaaang like nobody's biz, and, I think this is important, he seems like an all-around good fun guy. That's something that I loved about Cook. I wanted to do high school musical theatre with David Cook. We'd have been total BFFs if we'd ever met. That's how I feel about Adam, to an extent. He's not only talented, but I want to hang out with him because he seems awesome and humble. A lot of people have talent, and that's well and good but I don't think it's as nice if you're a dick about it.
He's got the total package to me. Incredible talent, amazing performer (someone said shades of Freddie Mercury with that swagger of his, and they're right)...also, he's smokin'.
I'm done now. I just needed to clear my brain of that before I can start saying intelligent and insightful things about him.

I was pretty sold on Adam before I came across this page a few weeks ago, but when I saw Mother's Finest in his list of influences, well, he could do no wrong from there on in. There is no way a 27-year-old white kid from Southern CA should know about the awesomeness that is MF - and yet, proof! I'm thinking Adam is a bona fide record geek. I like that in a person (and it certainly makes for more interesting musicians).

I knew it! After hearing Pop Goes The Camera I can absolutely hear Adam putting out an IAMX meets The Presets (maybe some Muse thrown in there?) album, and I'd love for him to bring his quasi dark synthpop to the stage at some point.
I Am X
Granted the odds of getting the rights for AI are close to nothing, but I'll keep hoping.
