HARPER'S ISLAND is about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle for a destination wedding. This island is famous for a streak of unsolved murders from seven years ago. Although they've come to laugh and to love, what they don't know is they've also come... to die. As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival.

In every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect, from the wedding party to the island locals. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.

Don't miss the broadcast premiere of HARPER'S ISLAND on Thursday, April 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

And there's going to be online content also:

Prior to the premiere of the primetime series, CBS and EQAL will launch HARPER'S GLOBE (http://www.harpersglobe.com/) online with original social show episodes that will be complementary to the television storyline with overlapping characters, locations and plots that will continue to evolve throughout the first season of the television show. ...

Representatives from CBS Entertainment, CBS Paramount Network Television, CBS Interactive, as well as writing teams from the show and EQAL, have been working in close collaboration since the series was at the script level last spring to ensure the on air, online and on mobile narratives are cohesive and complementary across all mediums. The online social show will launch on Wednesday, March 18, several weeks prior to the broadcast premiere....

"It's not a pre-requisite to go online in order to follow the series on-air, but those who do will have an authentic entertainment experience that drills deeper into the mythology and mystery happening on HARPER'S ISLAND," said Nancy Tellem, President, CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group.

Well, I think this is the first show I've heard of that is advertising it's end date (July 2nd) as well as it's start date. I'm somewhat interested in it only because Christopher Gorham is in the cast (as the groom, I believe) and I miss Henry from Ugly Betty.

More on Harper's Globe:

We caught up with Harper's Globe producer/co-creator Miles Beckett (lonelygirl15, KateModern) today at Wondercon, and asked him to describe the story of his new online series, and explain what makes it unique…

"The story of Harper's Globe," he said, "is about a girl named Robin, with a very mysterious past, who's gone to Harper's Island to work for the newspaper, Harper's Globe, ...

Is it just me, or is there some sort of weird meta game going on if you try to connect all the similarities of this show to Murder in Small Town X?

Nope, not just you. Just seeing the promos on tv before I looked it up, made me think of Small Town X. Since I loved that show so much, I'm hoping this will give me the same oohs and aahs for a few weeks. I'm also a huge fan of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" book. It was made into a great movie in 1945, one of my Dad's favorites, so we had to watch every time it was on tv (I even have the DVD now, all the remakes suck).

Murder in Small Town X, I thought I was the only one that watched that show. I loved that show. I am not sure how the online tie ins are going to work because it did so well for Push, Nevada (another show most people never heard off).

My first thought was of And Then There Were None too. If it's half as good as that, then I will be pleased. I hope it goes over well in the ratings too. I would love to see more of this kind of thing on American television.

I'm terribly excited for this. Never watched Small Town X, but I hope this is a decent mystery, the commercials are great.

I've been intrigued by this. Yes, I did think about Small Town X, but now with the possible Push, Nevada type play I'm really intrigued it.

Not that I was mapping stuff, figuring out clues, working out the phone number or actually called in or anything. Nope, not me.

Hee, sounds awesome! I'm sad I missed all of that. I always fail to get into those types of shows when they start. :(

My first thought was also Murder in Small Town X. I loved that show, but the ratings were not very good. And Then There Were None is probably closer plotwise, though. I'll give this a try, especially with Christopher Gorman.

I thought it was going to be another Murder in Small Town X, just with a different name because of the location. I was actually bummed finding out it was a drama. :(

I"m so watching. I love mysteries! I loved Murder in Small Town X. I just hope that this show goes from beginning to end because it would suck if it got cancelled half way.

I'll watch anything Christopher Gorham's on. I'm sad that way. I hope one of the first victims is the "Ugly Betty" writer who wrote Henry into a corner and then didn't know what to do with him. A well-done mystery would be icing on the cake, but, my hopes, they remain small.

Hopefully they do it better than Small Town X. I remember being profoundly pissed off that the final clue in that show did not lead to the actual killer, and it was only because he lost a contest and couldn't go after his first choice that Angel (RIP, you true American hero) was able to win.

Murder in Small Town X was a reality show though, right? People were competing against each other to avoid execution? That sounds more like the show that recently ended (Fear the Number 13 or something like that) on the WB.

This show sounds like a good old fashioned murder mystery and it sounded like a drama with characters, not reality show contestants. I too love "And Then There Were None". I've read the book a number of times. Never seen the 1945 movie but I enjoyed the 1960ish remake (with Hugh O'Brian as Lombard and Shirley Eaton as Vera Claythorne or whatever they changed her name into).

Yes, Murder in Small Town X was a reality show. I really loved it. I just watched most of that Fear show and it wasn't even anywhere near the quality. This new one is definitely a drama, and it does look really interesting. I hope it's not obvious early on who the murderer is.

I still stand by the 1945 original version of "And Then There Were None." Definitely worth renting if you liked the other one. The ending is a bit different than the book though, but it works well.

I agree on both points. I was sort of puzzled when the commercials first made it look like "And Then There Were None: The Reality Show!" I was glad to see another commercial that fleshed out the basics of the plot a little more.

Also liking that its a miniseries and that they are advertising an end date. I'll definitely watch at least the first episode.

Also, Harry Hamlin (Aaron Echolls on Veronica Mars, and on Dancing with the Stars a few seasons back) will be on this show - awesome!

I'll be tuning in to this. It sounds like Agatha Christie by way of Scream. And the spooky, gothic San Juan islands setting plus the creepy little girl in the commericals ("One by one, one by one") makes me think there might be a tiny dash of Twin Peaks in there too! I just hope it is more mystery/suspense and not so much slasher.

I like that it is only 13 episodes, too, and over summer months that are mostly reruns.

The Harper's Globe website is now live. I've looked at it briefly and I think it has to potential to add to the experience or be really lame. Are there other shows that have interactive media like this?

Count me in as another who's excited to see how this turns out. I'm trying to not let my expectations get too high, but based on the two online video promos it looks interesting.

Seeing all the Small Town X fans in here is really making me geek out. I have never obsessed over a show like I did with MiSTX. I'd tape each episode to review for clues and I think by the time the series was over I'd filled an entire notebook. Hard to believe that was 8 years ago now! Good times...

I did the same thing back in the 70s when I was a kid with a show called Ellery Queen. It was a story set in the 40s, where there would be a murder mystery and Ellery would solve them. What was so cool was they would put the actual clues in the show and it was up to the viewer to realize what they were and who the murderer was. Somewhere at the end, Ellery would figure it out, look into the camera and ask the viewer if he/she saw what he just did and got the answer. Then the usual rounding of the suspects and the big reveal would happen. But I had the notebook too, and took notes on each episode. No VCRs though, just one shot at everything.

Is it April 9th yet? I'm getting more excited when I see the promos. I love a good mystery and hope the outcome isn't too obvious early on. And I've found that shows with definite endings, like Lost now, are written much better, since they know they have to move things along and finish on time.

I am looking forward to this show. I hope that they air the complete series. I don't want to invest my time in a serial if it is going to get canceled before the concluson. That has happened far too many times already.

I loved that show! They should release it on DVD. The actor that played Ellery was the very funny, handsome, charming Jim Hutton (father to Timothy)

I totally hear you on this. I'm encouraged though by the fact that the series is in the can already, and is only planned for the one season. It's already all wrapped up. And to judge from the huge response on the Harper's Globe site, the show already has fans. Not that that will save it, but I feel reasonably confident, certainly enough to get into it. I'm betting even if the show was canceled they would continue the mystery on the web site. It's got a whole community built up around it already, and it hasn't even premiered.

I'm so excited for this show. Every promo that CBS shows, I get more hooked in. I come from a large family and the last get together we had we were all talking about how good this show looks.

It's going to be interesting in terms of the ratings it will get because it's not a procedure like most of CBS' shows. It's a different type of show for CBS. Plus, Southland is premiering at the same time on the same night.

Yup, another Small Town X fan here, who thought that they were finally going to be bringing something similar back. I know FOX said they wouldn't ever, in honor of Angel, but this is CBS, so I figured they thought enough time had passed that they could get away with it.

However, knowing it's not a reality show but an actual series explains why I saw Eureka's Vincent is in the commercials.

I am interested in seeing how this is going to work, and whether once again I get hooked on a show doomed to fail.

All the promos for this show that I've seen have been calling this a "mystery event".

I guess that means that it's designed to be strictly a one season wonder?

Regardless, that video on the show's official site with the executive producer has me so excited for this show.
