Just go to the regular site rather than the mobile one. Or you can go directly to forums.televisionwithoutpity.com.

I can't access the (non-mobile) main site on my iPhone 3gs. It used to work fine (I had initally checked some box to use the non-mobile version), but now it keeps bouncing back and forth between televisionwithoutpity.com and m.twop.com. After several iterations, Safari complains that too many redirects have occurred and it gives up. Any tips on how to fix this?

I can’t duplicate the problem on my 3G. My only suggestion would be to try a hard reboot of your phone (hold both the Home and Power buttons in at the same time until you see the Slide to Power Off slider, and then do that). If that doesn't help, you could try a reset or a restore. You might also try going to the forums and then touching the TWoP logo, which will take you to the home page.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried rebooting and accessing via the forums, and neither worked. Then I tried clearing my cookies, and after it asked which version of the site to use I fell into the redirect loop again. I don't have the ability to reset or restore right now, so I guess the main page will just have to wait until I have computer access again. I am running version 3.1.2 if that makes a difference.

Now my phone apparently double posts.

No, that’s a server glitch.

If you didn't clear the cache and the history when you cleared the cookies, try that. I’m running 4.2.1, so that might be the difference.

I know others have mentioned it, but since I didn't see anything further, I wanted to also ask about possibly making the site compatible with Tapatalk. It would definitely make mobile viewing friendlier.

I saw the question about how to read under spoiler bars on Androids ( I have the X), but didn't see an answer/solution?

Anyone? Anyone? Pleaze?

I don’t have an Android phone, so all I can suggest it that you try the workaround for the iPhone if you haven’t already. Namely, copy the spoilered post, open up the Fast Reply box, and paste the copied post inside. That is supposed to strip off the BB code. You could also try pasting it into another text-writing app—email, or a note-taking app, for instance.

Heh. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until May--which is when I plan to get the iPhone.

So I'll have to just suffer until then, lol.

There's a far better method for reading spoilers on an iPad/iPhone - flick chick posted the link on the last page, but here it is again:

http://neowaf.appspot.com/spoiler.html

You basically make a little javascript bookmark that changes the color of all the spoilerbars on the page. It might work for you on Android also. I wish it worked for my desktop too (clicking and dragging the mouse is so hard!)

I'd like to second or third this request. Navigating the forums in Safari on an iPhone 3Gs is extremely unwieldy.

Can anyone tell me whether it was an actual decision to restrict the TWOP mobile app to recaplets (I presume in order to force people to the site to read the recaps--and look at the ads)? Or is it just a bug that will be addressed in a future update? Thanks!

Thanks for that spoiler reader trick: http://neowaf.appspot.com/spoiler.html

Rather than copying stuff from 6 months ago upthread, I'm just going to share some solutions to issues I've just learned for my iPod Touch and (presumably) the iPhone.

Regarding word wrapping when enlarging the text/screen:
Atomic Browser Lite is a free app with an option to enlarge the text. When you turn the screen horizontal, it wraps. It also lets you easily reply with quotes, links, bold, etc.

For Safari, to reply with quotes, links, bold, etc., you have to choose Fast Reply and then More Options.

I read that you guys will be updating the software. Now would be a great time to start supporting mobile apps like Tapatalk. http://www.tapatalk.com/index.php

Let me add my voice to those requesting Tapatalk. Their website indicates that it works with IP.Board. And here is a handy FAQ on their website: FAQ. No, I don't work for them but I use it with other boards and it is very slick. Puleeeeze!

I have a kinda small but weird bug for the mobile forums. It doesn't occur on my iPod Touch's browser, but does occur on two browsers I have on my Android phone. Basically, on the forum pages, thread links to threads without second pages can't be effectively "long-pressed". Usually, I like to long-press a thread link to get the context menu up, usually to open the thread to the oldest unread post in a new browser tab. But for threads that don't have second pages, the Android browsers put me into text selection mode on a long press rather than a URL context menu. The browsers still know those are links somehow, because a regular finger tap on the link opens that thread, but it's just a weird little glitch.

(This is on Android 4.0.2.)

I'm having the oddest problem when accessing the forums from my iPhone. When I'm in the mobile interface and click on a thread, instead of taking me to the last read post, it takes me to a blank page that doesn't exist in the thread. For example, in the Voice thread, I could see that there are 479 pages, yet when I clicked on the thread, it took me to page 481, which was blank. It only happens in the mobile interface and only on a few threads, but I find it odd.

I just tried going to the Grimm board using Safari on my iPod Touch and didn't have that problem. You might try going to the Settings app, scroll down to Safari, and then Clear History or Clear Cookies and Data. Also in the Settings for Safari, I have Accept Cookies set to "From visited."

I'm having a somewhat different variation of the "blank page" issue with my Android. A weecap announcement hasn't made a difference for me, and what happens is that any page I try to load, whether it's the first, middle, or last page, will load completely for about a half a second (if lucky) and then suddenly redirect to a completely blank page with the word "feeds" at the top. If I hit the "stop" button right at the correct moment when it's loaded for that fraction of a second, I can sometimes get the page to stay loaded, but it takes many, many tries. I'm wondering if it's related to the same issues other people are having.

The mobile interface would be great if it was possible for the user to increase the font size.
Any plans for that in the future?

I've been meaning to ask all you mobile savvy folks for a while now: on my Andriod device I can't access the forums at all; it opens as a list of features, with a short menu at the bottom - Home, Shows, Blogs, Videos. No forums. Am I doing something wrong? url is http://m.twop.com/inf/infomo... followd by session id.

Thanks, shapeshifter. Looks like the url www.televisionwithoutpity.com defaults to the no-forums, mobile-friendly version of the page, but that url manually entered into the device browser works fine, and also seems very mobile-friendly.... now I know what you were all talking about all these months!

This is a weird problem, but whenever I visit the full site from my iPhone (3GS, Safari browser, not jailbroken) and try to read the Gilmore Girls recaps I get redirected to a very different site. Let's just say it's a site that is less Gilmore Girls and more Cinemax at night. I tried another recap, still in the GG section and got the same problem. I also tried a Game of Thrones recap, and so far have had no problems. I've tried everything from deleting cookies to a hard reset to restoring the phone to factory settings, and nothing helps. I've accessed the site from my cell network vs. the wifi and still got the same result. I've tried the Apple support site and have been told by a few people that since my phone is still not jailbroken, that the problem is likely coming from the website. I have no idea if this is true, but thought I would cover my bases (I do not have this problem when using my laptop or desktop). Is there anything you can do to help me? Thanks.

When you cleared the cookies, did you do it by going into Settings on the iPhone, choosing Safari, and then tapping both the Clear Cookies and Data and the Clear History buttons? I suspect that the bad address is lodged in History rather than in Cookies.

If you tried all of that, and that didn’t work for you, I’d try manually typing in the website address into the browser, as the post above yours suggests (for a different problem). If that doesn’t help, try some of these links:

Gilmore Girls Main Page

Gilmore Girls Recap Page

If none of that works, you might try Googling for Gilmore Girls recaps TWoP, in hopes that pathway confuses whatever the bad site is doing.

I haven’t run into that problem, so that’s all I can think of to help you.

When I go to My Settings on a computer and click on Your Notifications, I have 12 notifications.

When I go to the same place on my iPod touch (4th gen), there are no notifications.

Yes, I cleared it through the settings. I cleared the history as well, once through settings and once on the Safari window.

If you tried all of that, and that didn’t work for you, I’d try manually typing in the website address into the browser, as the post above yours suggests (for a different problem). If that doesn’t help, try some of these links:

I just tried typing in the page manually with the same result.

This is a weird problem, but whenever I visit the full site from my iPhone (3GS, Safari browser, not jailbroken) and try to read the Gilmore Girls recaps I get redirected to a very different site.

I once had a similar experience, but with the forums index page, and (fortunately) a much tamer site. I thought it was due to that particular site, but it wasn't. My situation was that on a long flight I signed up for that Go-Go In Flight Wifi (GGIFW, for short). Then I browsed away on my Droid phone with no issues. However, after that flight whenever I would go to the TWOP index, click a link, read, then click "Back", the "Back" would always result in going to that GGIFW page. But only from TWOP. I could go to Yahoo or Weather or anywhere else and hit Back and be fine. I cleared data, cache, rebooted the phone, etc and would get the same issue. I also did NOT experience this issue on a laptop that I used GGIFW on. Nor did I have this experience with a Netbook and GGIFW. So, I don't think it was the site. On the laptop and netbook, I went right to TWOP, just like on the phone, but no continued issues.

The only thing that fixed it on my phone was a factory reset (which I had to do for other reasons, not this). I wonder if there is some weird convergence of TWOP and ad, or webpage that does this, but only on Handhelds.
