Or: Beaker.

I don't think she's long for the show. It's a bad sign when someone says "I want to show them an X can be just as good!" In this case, X = caterer. Which on some challenges will be great for her. But it's not the same as restaurant-style cheffing. And if she's waiting for a spirit guide to tell her what to cook, she may have trouble with the quickfires.

One episode in and I already hate her - she is so annoying and the extreme close-ups are a huge disservice.

I like Carla, and she did well enough with the apples. Her salmon dish sounded delicious, they only mentioned that the side salad was underseasoned.

Apparently Carla modelled for three years in Europe. I would go trolling through the internet for evidence, but I have essays to write.

Fiiiiiiiiiierce?

I like her craziness.

Her opening credit shot is hilarious.

She reminds me of Professor Trelawney from the Harry Potter books. Or, as OP said, Beaker. Either way she brings a heavy helping of crazy to the mix, but seems like a genuinely sweet person.

The eyes. Good god her eyes are psycho. I'm thinking she was a foot model. No one can model with eyes like hers.

Beaker.

LOL, I definitely thought the same. A bit of Beaker, a bit of Janice, and some other random Muppets hair-wise. At the moment I like her brand of crazy and she seems nice enough.

When her hair was pulled back, and it was all neck and eyeglasses, I said "She should be the next Rita Skeeter!"

Then I decided I am a dork.

Then I saw the Beaker comparison and nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

I think I would like Carla in small doses. If I were drunk. I have a feeling that having her in the same room with the other Cheftestants while decisions are being made at the Judges Table will result in hilarious and obnoxious footage - one can only hope!! I have a feeling that she has no idea how she comes off - she probably thinks she is enthusiastic and adorable.

Carla cracks me up! I think she'll be entertaining to watch throughout the season. Plus, I have to root for her since she's from my city - Washington DC.

The Washington Post did a quick interview with her yesterday: Carla Hall

Funny comment from the interview - apparently she's the "calm one" in the group of cheftestants?!

Does the woman ever blink?

I'm afraid of her, because I don't think she EVER blinks.

A friend of mine says she reminds him of Sideshow Bob.

In her interview in The Washington Post, Carla says the makeup people did her hair like that to further exaggerate her 5-foot 11-inch height. The hairstyle was Bravo's idea, not hers.

The height, the hair, the glasses, the voice... she's so outrageous she reminds me of an "adult" from, like, any Robert Munsch book.

I like Carla. She seems goofy and out there and I think she'll provide some good entertainment for the show. Am I biased because she's from DC? A little. Am I extra biased because my husband interviewed her for our food blog? Definitely.

I hope she hangs in for a while. I agree with the earlier poster who pointed out that caterers don't have the strongest track record compared to restaurant chefs. Still, a well trained caterer may have an edge on the competition for all those large party challenges they like to throw in.

I watched some of his shows and his chefography thing (maybe not chefography but a bio of him) and like Carla, he seems like a free spirit, wears the funky glasses and has the groovy hair. Reminded me of Carla when I first saw her on Top Chef. Oh and the food connection and the DC connection.

I like her. She seems genuine -- like someone I'd enjoy being friends with with. Can't say that for too many Cheftestants from any season, and I've watched 'em all.
