S5 - Carla Hall: Hootie Hoo

I don't think she's long for the show. It's a bad sign when someone says "I want to show them an X can be just as good!" In this case, X = caterer. Which on some challenges will be great for her. But it's not the same as restaurant-style cheffing. And if she's waiting for a spirit guide to tell her what to cook, she may have trouble with the quickfires.

Apparently Carla modelled for three years in Europe. I would go trolling through the internet for evidence, but I have essays to write.
Fiiiiiiiiiierce?

LOL, I definitely thought the same. A bit of Beaker, a bit of Janice, and some other random Muppets hair-wise. At the moment I like her brand of crazy and she seems nice enough.Beaker.

Then I decided I am a dork.
Then I saw the Beaker comparison and nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

The Washington Post did a quick interview with her yesterday: Carla Hall
Funny comment from the interview - apparently she's the "calm one" in the group of cheftestants?!

I'm afraid of her, because I don't think she EVER blinks.

Does the woman ever blink?

She blinks when you blink. Ha.

In her interview in The Washington Post, Carla says the makeup people did her hair like that to further exaggerate her 5-foot 11-inch height. The hairstyle was Bravo's idea, not hers.A friend of mine says she reminds him of Sideshow Bob.

I hope she hangs in for a while. I agree with the earlier poster who pointed out that caterers don't have the strongest track record compared to restaurant chefs. Still, a well trained caterer may have an edge on the competition for all those large party challenges they like to throw in.

I thought the same thing!!! I love this woman at the moment but I may be projecting my 'Joan' love. She looks so much like Tracy Ross from "Girlfriends" to me... I keep thinking of her as "Joan".

I hope the above link works. Is Carla related to this DC pastry chef?

Related? What would lead you to that question?

I watched some of his shows and his chefography thing (maybe not chefography but a bio of him) and like Carla, he seems like a free spirit, wears the funky glasses and has the groovy hair. Reminded me of Carla when I first saw her on Top Chef. Oh and the food connection and the DC connection.
