Good guy? Bad guy? Somewhere inbetween?

I feel like we haven't got to know the character very well yet, and we're already a third of the way through the season. He's definitely up to something though.

I wanna see more of him. He seems mysterious. He may be the good guy, but that can change or vice versa. I like his dynamic between him and Deb, and who knows... we'd get a love triangle plot here, which might end up badly or something. I think I really like the guy. He seems focused, and yet so secretive. I want more background story about his past and with the I.A.

And let's be honest, he's pretty easy on the eyes, too.

The way Deb cycles through boyfriends, I'm sure he could be in our future in that capacity. I have a feeling we haven't heard the end of it re: the cop who died.

At least I hope not, considering how much they dug Yuki's subplot into the ground over it.

I like him. Desmond Harrington has aged into a comfortable masculinity since his pretty boy days of THE HOLE and MY FIRST MISTER.

I'm finally catching up on all the episodes that I've missed and I'm not gonna lie, the man is hot. I'm pretty sure he's gonna have a little something something with Deb since they have great chemistry. I kinda like the fact that it hasn't happened yet.

So far, I think he's a good guy. I just hope he won't end up like Doakes.

I wonder whether he would end up like Doakes. I mean, he's kinda a thorn to Dexter. Asking questions about Dexter's whereabouts, and suspicious, etc.

And his statement about "Co workers usually sleeps together" or something like that, made me think that he would end up with Deb. Probably because now Quinn is like Deb. His GF shot herself, so he needs someone to talk to.

I dunno. Just my prediction.

Does anyone know what is wrong with this actor? He looks emaciated compared to last season. He does not look healthy at all. I know MCH had cancer, but I would swear this guy has been through the same.

i have no idea. i know that he's what, 34? but he used to be hot. in a gritty and well geez he was hot. now he's all plucked, gaunt and spray tanned to the levels of an oompa loompa. and why the hell is he waxing his brows????

i'm wondering if he's been sick, or maybe has a problem with drugs? i don't know. just last year he didn't look like this. i wish he'd read this stuff and FIX himself.

please desmond. as a fan of yours. please stop what you're doing and go back to looking like you.

ok off my soapbox. sorry all!

i'm curious about quinn, we'll he go the way of doakes?

I still think he's hot. I do think he'd look better with a bit more weight, though. Maybe I'm just not observant enough, but I don't think he looks sick or like a druggie. I'm thinking it was just a choice on the actor's part to slim down. Maybe he's on one of those Hollyweird cleansing type diets. What ever it is, I do like the heftier version better, but I don't mind the skinny version nor do I get all the 'He looks ill' comments'.

Also, I don't get the comments about his orange-ish tan. Maybe I need to adjust the color on my TV. He just looks tan to me. Not seeing the orange :)

As a part of the minority, I love his character. Love he and Deb as a couple. And, I'm quite alright with him investigating Dex. Someone on this show needs to be at least some what suspicious of Dexter.

Count me in with the minority (?) who, overall, like Quinn, even if I don't always love what they do with the character. He seems like a good element to add to the dynamic. Unlike most of the rest of the squad, he really isn't a basically decent guy, but he's certainly not in the same category as Dexter. I do think he offers the most potential to be a "normal" person who could learn the truth about Dexter and ultimately accept him for what he is - not easily or cheerfully, but he might be able to live with the basic situation (although I doubt he'd want the details).

I'm not enthusiastic about the fake tan - somebody in costuming/makeup needs a wake-up call! But D.H. just looks like he shifted his overall muscle tone from layman-bulky to lean over the course of a six- or eight-month hiatus. IMO, he doesn't look emaciated unless the point of comparison is either on steroids or obese.

Him losing weight for this and last season is what made me go from thinking "meh" to "OMG!" I find him incredibly attractive. He's pretty much the main reason I watch now. I fully admit to being shallow. I don't really like his character per se. I find his character a bit annoying.

Yeah, I challenge anyone to tell me that THIS is not hot.

He looks a little bit like a sweaty, greasy junkie to me in those pictures. I prefer him heavier - which is weird because I usually like slim men. But YMMV. I still think that whoever dresses him in for the show must hate him.

Yeah, sometimes, they dress him terribly. The baggy, solid color sweaters do no one any favors. But, I do like it when they dress him in the striped shirts (or don't bother dressing him at all).

OK, is it me or is Desmond Harrington looking even MORE manorexic this season? I don't mean to make light of his situation if he really is anorexic. Poor guy looks just horrible, but if he were terminally ill with cancer or AIDS, would he be able to handle the demands of the shooting schedule? I'm just baffled, and frankly, concerned.

Even though I still wouldn't kick this guy outta bed for eating crackers, I have to admit, he's looking worse. His face is so gaunt. I'm not sure what is going on there.

I wish they'd do more with him, his character, now that the serial killer plot is playing out. My fave seasons are when he is more of a main character (4 and 5). I think they have great potential with him, in terms of giving him a role in Dexter's outting. Quinn was already on to him and had to drop it when Dexter covered for him. But, I think it would be great to set up Quinn against Deb on this, seeing as how it will probably go the way of Deb trying to grapple with both wanting to do the moral thing and her emotions regarding Dexter. Quinn and Dexter hate each other, Quinn has no reason to protect Dexter at all. Seeing these three against each other in this story arc again would be great.

I wonder if he has Addison's disease. That could explain his odd color, weight loss, gauntness, etc.

Whatever is going on with him, I hope he's going to be OK. I'm obviously not alone in finding the drastic change in his appearance incredibly distracting and worrisome.

He actually looks better now that he cut his hair.....

But, please. Can we have some damn character development for this guy? Falling for the woman to the detriment of everything again?

I think he's a dead man walking with this storyline.

It's starting to distract you from the overall storyline isn't it? Everything is flowing along smoothly then suddenly Skeletor gets some screentime.

Whatever he has, if he is still losing weight, he won't be able to keep his acting up a lot longer.

This type of weight loss - the gaunt face and pipestem neck that looks too thin to hold his head up - can't be something he's doing deliberately, can it? It really looks like the result of starvation or illness. It's difficult to look at him now, especially when you compare a before and after pic:

That's it for the Quinn storyline? What a waste, devoting that much time to a lame storyline. I know they want to give him something to do, but he doesn't really seem necessary anymore that he's no longer dating Deb.

I'm only just now catching up with Dexter, and reading the episode threads. I have also noticed the change in Desmond Harrington's appearance. Here's my theory. When he was still beefier, I noticed something odd ... whichever romantic plotline he was in at the time (with Christine, I think?), they never gave him a shirtless scene. In fact, there was a sex scene where the girl was topless or close to it, and he had his shirt on. It was strange enough that I noticed it. There was one moment where he was changing or something, and it looked like the actor might have had love handles or something like it.

Of course, in the real world, Desmond Harrington in his beefier incarnation is a drop-dead gorgeous guy. But in Hollywood where every guy has to have abs, I wonder if there wasn't some pressure for him to drop some weight so that he could be "TV skinny." I think later he did have a shirtless scene (I could be wrong, I can't remember exactly). Of course I know he hasn't had them regularly ...so my supposition might be wrong. Or he could have lost the weight and they might have realized, oh, he really just looks like a gaunt orange zombie. Just my theory.

A few seasons ago I was a real Quinn fan, but they do seem to have wasted the character lately. I keep waiting for "something" to happen with him. The stripper side plot last season was nothing but annoying. I mean I guess covering for the murder might come back to bite him next season. But other than that what a waste of screen time. I was almost disappointed they didn't off him as I just hate seeing him squandered, feel like they could have done so much more with this character. I really thought he & Deb were good together, and was sorry that got messed up.
