The season premiere is tonight and I think this thread is going to be buzzing by 11:10 pm EST.

For now:

Promo with Cristina and Owen
Sneak Peeks with Owen and Cristina Scenes

The man is ridiculously sexy and I'm so looking forward to this.

Only 9 hours and twenty minutes. Haha.

Okay, I'm just going to say it. Cristina and Owen, the best couple to hit Grey's and they aren't even a couple yet. I'm offically on board with Hunt. Their scenes were the best of the premiere. I'm glad they brought him on the show, look forward to more of these two. I loved Cristina's reactions to him tonight. I've missed Cristina!

Loved, loved, LOVED. Great chemistry, their scenes were easily my favorite of the premiere. From the staple scene, which was a hoot, to the kiss, which was adorable and hot. Also drooled watching him pick her up like that after she got impaled. I see this being a much more equal relationship then what she had with Burke, and hopefully really help Christina grow. Of course all that still remains to be seen, but tonight at least I didn't see him talking down to her or lecturing, just offering advice and help from his own personal experience.

I'm officially hooked. And I hereby confirm I've found my new ship on the show. They are sizzling hot together. There is chemistry there is humor and there is this amazing rapport they have already managed to develop in those very few scene we have seen so far. I can't wait what's in store for this couple.

LoveThursdays, I couldn't agree more.

I've got to say that Cristina is one of the very few characters on this show that I like. And last night, Owen officially became another character of whom I was instantly a fan.

It was good to see Cristina smile and lighten up again, and the Cristina/Owen chemistry was off-the-charts hot. He is ridiculously perfect for her, and I loved everything about their scenes together. Their dynamic and the aforementioned chemistry was like lightning in a bottle, and for me, they instantly became the show's best couple ever. I cannot wait until we get to see Owen/Cristina scenes again.

Cris/Owen Scenes because a one time viewing is just not enough! I really liked the kiss scene, but I have to say the whole Owen stapling himself, then with Cristina's help. Umm WHEW! I think I liked this scene better. I loved the way Cristina laughed about it when she took control of the staple gun. Ya! Love this pairing.

They're nitpicking all the far-fetched doctoring on the episode thread (why bother watching if you're looking for realism??), so I'll re-post my initial reaction here, where the love is strong:

I'm all about the Dr. Badass love. It says so much about Christina that she was turned on by a guy stapling his own leg. I love love LOVE their chemistry, FINALLY someone who deserves her and isn't a condescending prick!

The little looks they kept giving each other, the way he was so obviously into her, the way he kept knocking her off-kilter - but never in a way that put her down...*swoon*

I have always been a huge IW fan, way back since the Spike Lee movie "Girl 6", and I thought he was the best thing about Bionic Woman, but he always just felt wrong to me on GA, and I was never sold on his relationship with Yang. I am so ridiculously (and obsessively, in a scary way) THRILLED Yang is (potentially) going to get a man who deserves her. After his "It's not about being the best, it's about saving lives" speech, I realized that this is the person who can help make Cristina a more well-rounded character without "chipping away" at her true self, the way Kathy Baker so eloquently, depressingly described.

I have obsessively watched all of their scenes together at least 3 times tonight...OMG, there's something wrong with me...

Their chemistry was amazing. The kiss I've watched over and over and over again. It was just better than I could have imagined it.

All I can think of is how much Cristina felt in that. It's been months since anybody has looked at her like that in Grey's World. I mean, it was just...amazing.

And thank you, LT for the clips. They're yummy.

TvSquad set a new poll below their most recent recap asking about people's favourite couple in the season premiere and so far Yang and Hunt have left everyone far far behind including Meredere which really surprised me.

Oh how I loved that stoking of her hair. Also the "so", which I counted him saying it twice did not annoy me in the least now if the keeps saying it when he returns, then that's another matter.

I did not find the tough military guy angle to be overplayed. I loved when he told Derek he did not take orders from civilians. I guess he's going to be in his fatigues all the time? Not counting the times his wearing his birthday suit when he hits the sheets with Cristina of course.

I'm trying to keep it together here because if that's the first kiss what the hell is going to happen when they actually hit the sheets? I

I honestly think he fell in love with her at first sight. Corny, I know, but that's how I see it. He obviously wasn't interested in working in a hospital environment and yet he was almost flustered when the Chief offered him the job; the way he looked at Cristina in that moment, and the way he seemed to be fighting with himself just before he kissed her, equals love at first sight IMO. Go McBadass!!

I agree. They way they looked at each other. She was totally giving him the doe eyes the entire time and smiling at him. I'm not much of a romanticist but I would completely call it love at first sight. They're a match made in the OR. :D

I'd say so, too. What makes it even more interesting is that Cristina and Owen are probably the last two people we would expect to see experiencing love at first sight, given their focus and sense of realism. It was Cristina, after all, who spent quite some time talking about how fairy tales and happily-ever-afters don't happen in real life, which was pretty clearly foreshadowing (sort of in reverse) her connection with Owen.

The way they were gazing at each other at various times was nice to see, not only because it was so unlike Cristina, but also because we could see how sort of dreamily bemused it made her, especially as Owen was leaving. We saw that she was so not used to feeling swept off her feet (figuratively and literally), but that she also definitely liked it. And after that kiss, who wouldn't.

I sort of turned into a crazy fangirl about him being on this show, and with Cristina. I could not have predicted how much I would love this, but I think it's the best relationship on the show in ... possibly ever. I loved Burke (the character) and was so sad to see him go, but I think Owen just came in and wiped my memory clean (Cristina's too, I'm thinking).

Yeah, I'm going a little mental over this, it's a little disturbing. I've watched the YouTube video of all their scenes cut together like 3 times a day for the last 3 days. I will only admit this to you guys, who are the technological equivalent of imaginary friends, and my mother, who has to love me no matter what. I make myself feel better by reminding myself that at least *I'M* not the nutjob actually cutting those scenes together and posting them on the internet. It's reassuring to know there are bigger crazies than me out there. God bless the internets!

I have to just chime in and say "ditto" to everything everyone else has said.

I too am going a little mental over this pairing. I don't think I've been this excited about a television pairing since...well, I can't quite remember when.

I loved Kevin McKidd in Trainspotting, Rome and Journeyman (but not quite in the same way) and I am a huge Cristina fan but I just didn't expect to love Owen and Cristina together, right from the get-go, the way that I do.

I relished every moment they had together on screen (and then watched them over and over and over). It really was just so well played out. From Owen's repeated "So?" (I counted four), to Cristina's doe-eyed look, to the way in their last scene Owen ripped off the gloves, just sort of stood there for a while, head down, hands planted in place and then closed the blinds, looked back at Cristina and went for it! Okay, I need to stop gushing!

But I am really excited to see where this takes Cristina and the show. It just feels like a breath of fresh air.

I really think Cristina is going to run off with this guy, I swear I got that vibe. She was looking at him like she'd give birth to his babies LOL.

Not only that, I cannot get out of my mind him telling her that she should leave this place as in SGH. This the fifth season, there will be a sixth season but not sure if there will be seventh. But as much as I'd miss Cristina if this is how her story were to end I'd be more than satisfied. Talk about fleshing out a character, didn't they say this was a big storyline for her. Well it can't be that big IMO, if Dr. Military gives up his fatigues for some SGH white coat (BORING), I mean where do they go from there that would be big. It also can't be big if he leaves in the end and that's it because um, Cristina just did that storyline with her previous love interest, he left and that was it. I so agreed with him when he kind of sounded like he found it incredulous that Cristina would get a rush from working at SGH. I could actually see her like he said, out in the field. I really can't see her as some head of a department in some hospital. I see her out in the world discovering, inventing, getting her hands dirty.

They claim this guy "will rock her world" and that's what I'm looking for. They also have Meredith asking her not to abandon her now in that convo. they had at the end and that is exactly what I think is going to happen.

You know if Cristina were to leave, you'd give both actress some excellent material IMO. Of course I more than likely won't stick around once Cristina's story is complete and she takes off with her McHero, but I'd say that Meredith feeling abandoned by her person would be great material for EP to play. Maybe that will get her the emmy nod. Shonda's been throwing family members at Meredith left and right, then having them drop dead for dramatic effect and nobody really cares. Try having her "person" abandon her and there you go. I'd get my great exit for my dear Cristina and Meredith hits the jackpot in terms of dramatic material IMO, both actresses would.

Cristina's motivation is always to be the best. She doesn't generally care about her patients, just the work she gets to perform on them; that's why her most powerful moments are the ones where she's emotional. Although he was a crappy boyfriend, Burke was a good mentor because he could help her become a better doctor; Hunt could be a good mentor because he can help her become a better a person. He's dismissive of “being the best” in a way that isn't dismissive of Cristina, which is an attitude she would usually sneer at, but the combination of his passion for his work and appreciation of her skills intrigues her. And considering what a judgmental bitch she can be, anyone who intrigues Cristina is a credible threat. After impressing (and kissing) the hell out of her, he leaves her dazed and confused (in the best way), which is a new and interesting place for us to see her character go.

We know he's coming back this season so he obviously changes his mind about the job, and you have to figure Cristina factors into that decision. It'll be interesting to see how his “So?” attitude withstands the confines of a traditional hospital. Because while their pairing appears to be one in which Cristina won't have to “chip away” too much of herself, the same might not be true for Hunt. If he has to compromise too much of himself by staying at the hospital just to be with her, he might eventually take off for locations more exotic. Unless, of course, she's willing to compromise too, which would be an awesomely dramatic exit for Yang.

If done right, that story could work in a way that doesn't feel all “she gave up her dreams for a man”. If being a great surgeon is truly more important to her than the status of where she works, I could see the two of them riding off into the sunset to go work for Doctors Without Borders. Because unless he turns out to be a jerk, I can't imagine someone better suited for Cristina than McBadass and if she chooses her work over a fantastic relationship, she's never going to have a life outside of her work, which is a very possible fate for her.

Me too, Mars. I would have never taken you for a Burke fan- haha. Was the S3 Finale as painful for you as it was for me?

I have a lot more hope for this 'ship though if he signs his contract and I'll tell you why. Isaiah and Sandra were the ones who came up with the idea for the Burke/Cristina relationship. It wasn't an original idea for Shonda at all- but Owen was written for Cristina and she already seems to have a love for these two, so it gives me hope.

He's going to McDreamy the shit out of her. She doesn't believe in shit like love at first sight and all that stuff and she doesn't get Meredith and Derek and I have a feeling that this guy is about to make her really understand it.

Completely agree. There's a reason that Cristina lost it with Meredith and stated flat-out that happily-ever-afters and all that stuff just don't happen. Then, here comes Owen, who manages in very little time to appeal to Cristina on pretty much every level - he fascinates her in every way, and this woman who is cynical and all about the harshness of reality is suddenly completely bowled over by this guy. That look of hers as Owen walked out was entirely dazed and dreamy, showing us clearly that this experience is something that she has never felt before.

In short, just as she declares how impossible it is to have a sort of fairy tale romance, here comes a guy who, from their very first moments together, starts to prove her wrong.

I'm with all of you who are in crazy fangirl-mode for Owen/Cristina. I've never loved a pairing so fast - from literally their very first scene - but these two and their incredible chemistry totally intrigue me.

Also, I can definitely see Owen eventually providing Cristina's exit from the show as you mentioned, moonstruck. He's her chance to really go out and live life and experience the incredible adrenaline of doctoring out in the field, somewhere. I think her dream about she and Meredith being together in their old age, followed immediately by Owen popping into frame and rescuing her, was the quasi-anvil that he will be "rescuing" her from the unsatisfying life she had in her daydream (or at least providing an opportunity to change her destiny, so to speak).

Holy &(%@ !!! Loved, loved loved Cristina + Owen = Cristowe

PREDICTIONS AS A RESULT OF THIS NEW POWER COUPLE:

With the introduction of such a strong character as Owen Hunt, there is the potential for lots of "developments".

1) There could be some SERIOUS tension between Mer/Cris as Cris becomes less available now that she's found her 'true' love.
2) Cristowe overshadows MerDer as fans demand a well-deserved break from Meredith's chronic moping and Derrick's perfect hair.
3) Dr. Yang takes a leave of absence while she "figures things out" (i.e. her future at SGH).
4) Shonda kills Dr. Hunt and Cristina goes back to being Mer's 'person' (...which would really suck !!! Also, if Dr. Hunt 'has to', die let him go. Please no Dennyesque ghost roamings in the hallways of SGH cause that's just pathetic (yeah, Izzie, I'm talking to you).
5) Meredith, fed up with seeing Cristina truly happy and drama-free, forces Cris to choose between Mer and Dr. Hunt. Although I know she wouldn't come out and say it, but I just know that her actions just scream 'me, me, me'. And after she angrily walked away from Cristina when Cristina asked her to take her films after the icicle accident...that was too much. It made me think that anything is possible with Mer cause she so blinded by her relationship.
6) Dr. Hunt is back for good from Iraq and comes to SGH unannounced to check up on his icicle patient (wink, wink). In the hallway, he meets the Chief who again offers him a position while mentioning that Dr. Hunt could help SGH move up in the ratings as a leading trauma center (as that was the Chief's major concern in the last episode).

Wouldn't it be nice if...
IW would come back for just one episode and there could be a bit of interaction between Dr. Badass and Dr. Burke. Sure Dr. Badass is confident now, but it might be a completely different thing when faced with THE RENOWNED TOP NEUROSURGEON who was once engaged to his flame.

Boy oh boy! Was there mad chemistry between these two OR WHAT !!!!! This by far! Hands down! No competition! the most S I Z Z L I N G couple on this show. They're hot and funny. Cristowe Rocks!!!!

I just wanted to say that I really liked the symbolism of Owen removing the icicle from Cristina - like the prince melting the ice princess (which also fits in I guess with the whole damsel in distress scene where he swept her off her feet). And you can definitely see a difference in Cristina's demeanour after the icicle has come out, like Owen really has melted her (eg, the making googly eyes at him while he tends her wound).

I can't wait to see where this goes and what this does to Yang's character who, right now (as evidenced by her attitude to Mer and Der) is quite clearly out of hope.

Heart surgeon. ;)

And I think that would make an awesome episode. The two of them standing in the lobby, waiting for Cristina to get off work or something like that and casual conversation and then Cristina sees them and runs off and they catch drift of who they are to her.

I could see some good stuff ensuing.
