Who is going to play Dr. William Bell? And when will we meet him? J.J. said it'll be before the end of Season 1.
"Even the actor who is going to play William Bell doesn't know that they're William Bell yet," he says, choosing his words very carefully and cryptically avoiding a gender-specific pronoun. (Note: He didn't say they haven't found the actor who will play Dr. Bell, although I suppose that could also be true.) Nevertheless, I press on. Has the actor been contracted for an unspecified role? "Not necessarily." Are they just overconfident that the actor will accept? "I think it's even more cryptic than that." Have we already met William Bell? "No." Um, OK, huh...? "It's a closely guarded secret," he says. Yeah, no kidding! My snap-judgment guess: Dr. Bell is now a cyborg.
This really interests me... he doesn't know he's William Bell?? Hmmmm.....

I hope it's not Peter - because I would rather Peter be twins/clones than him be the young WB.
Aside from Peter, I can't think of who might be already on hand to be WB...

We have not met Dr. Bell yet, so it cannot be Peter... I would hate that a little bit too.

What was with the comment his eyes were green at birth? Creepy...but fun!
Honestly I thought that was one of Walters weirdly enduring things with this son, but having seen that very last scene in the episode and the all but admittance that yes Walter has done some scientific fuckery with his son I'm kinda creeped out by it now too. Earlier I thought it was dorky and adorable.
I wasn't sure that scene...was that Peter or was it the rapid aging dead serial killer dude? Did anyone get a good look?

Ausiello Files
Question: Fringe was so awesome! Got any scoop? -- Olivia
Ausiello: You betcha. The show is already beefing up its cast, adding to the roster an as-yet-unchosen actor to play the recurring role of Ian Spencer, a twenty-to-thirtysomething hipster whose forensics expertise comes in handy on tough cases. Not sure if his sense of humor helps, too, but hey, can't hurt, right?

My speculation is that Nina Sharp, the red haired lady from Mega Dynamics, or whatever it was called, is really an android. Notice when she showed her robotic arm, she didn't show where the metal connected to flesh.
My theory about Bishop Jr, Peter, is that he was somehow a result of an experiment. Can't wait to get more information to figure out if that's the case or if Walter's little comments were a red herring.

WTF like there aren't already too many people in this cast already? I'm already pissed at how little and how poorly they use Kirk Acevedo, even though he's the only one to manage even a smidge of chemistry with the lead, why the hell do they think adding more people is going to help this hot mess of a show?

The last scene was a little confusing, with the 3 people lying in pods, but the apple image really convinces me of the twin/clone issue. If you pause the apple, the two seeds are fetuses.

Perhaps that means something, perhaps not -
Walter/Peter are similar names too, well a bit..

blixie2, I agree. Kirk should be used more. It's nice to see a more personal side of Olivia through Kirk when she's working on a case, but TPTB are only bringing one more character. So hopefully he won't be overshadowed.

I just don't know whether people will stick around to see the later episodes. I'm in the "I hope it succeeds" area, because I think the premise is interesting. However, I'm not sure how long I will stick with it if the writing remains yuck. They also need to flesh out Peter's character alot more. Out of all the characters, his is the least defined, and to me just an after thought. He basically has really nothing to do, except for the one liners and to babysit his father. It's just a waste of a character. He's not FBI and has no expertise in the science field.
For all the people saying that they only torture females. Well, I think in episode 5 Peter is tortured. I'm assuming his past catches up to him. Also, at the TV festival in NY held about a week ago, where the cast of Fringe attended a Q & A, the publicist for JJ Abrahams production company gave this up. "As much as JJ wants to produce a tv show that has a beginning, middle and end for each episode, he can't help himself, so there are more questions and more questions posed in each episode as the series goes on." Seems to becoming alot more like Lost, while still being episodic. Will that work?

We have only seen Peter in only two episodes so far. The episode arc is for 13 episodes. Right now, they are introducing his character. Frankly, I like a little mystery in characters. Let's wait until the show actually ends to make snap judgements on Peter. They don't want to give away too much about his character.

That's not necessarily true. He may not be FBI, but it was mentioned at least twice already that he scammed his way in to teach a course at MIT. Whatever formal or informal experience he has or has not had, however, we've been pretty much hit over the head with the fact he's brilliant enough to know exactly what Walter is talking about.
It's been said right in his character description that Peter is primarily there to translate the Walter-speak to Olivia and the others who have no knowledge/background in science. And so far we've seen him assist Walter in experients/procedures without being instructed what to do. His expertise may be self-taught, but we have definitely been shown it is very present in his character.
I wouldn't expect to see any characters completely fleshed out in the first few episodes of a series, and agree with Lee2912345 that a very large part of Peter's story seems to lie within in the mystery of his questionable background, which is exactly why it will be revealed more gradually.

has anyone noticed any pattern in the objects that are shown in the fadeouts before the commercial breaks? I've seen a six-fingered palm print, a tree frog with the letter Pi in the marking pattern on its back, and a leaf.
...nothing comes to mind at the moment, but I'm wondering if they are there for a reason...
i noticed that the leaf has a triangle on it, but i can't make heads or tails of any of it...

That's a Phi, not a Pi. It's been used to stand for a variety of things, according to wikipedia.

A boy?? Either she thinks she's 7 or they're going down a path that none of us could possibly have been expecting. Ewwww."I had to kiss a boy a couple of weeks ago—a different boy—one that nobody's met yet," Anna revealed.
