Once the movie is out no spoiler tags are needed to talk about it. Unless you're getting into "I heard a rumor that in the sequel..." stuff, obviously.

On a side note I recently bought an engagement ring, and while I was in the jewelery store they let me try on the Omega James Bond watch. It was easily the coolest watch I have ever warn, possibly the coolest thing I have ever worn. Unfortunatly it was about twice as expensive as the engagement ring, and about 40 times more expensive then watches I am used to wearing.

Plus Casino Royale was probably the best Bond movie since some of the Connery ones.
The only Bond book I've read was Dr No and to me, Craig was the actor that came closest to the characterization of the book. He seems like the first Bond that doesn't need a witty bon mot before he kills you, he'll just kill you.
Meanwhile, I am praying for the return of his swim trunks. (/shallow)

And yes, while I've seen most of the Bond movies, I do appreciate that Craig's Bond is a true badass, not some pretty boy who looks good in a tuxedo while stylishly pointing his silencer at his target with the Bond girl at his side, ready for a makeout session during breaks in violence.
Congrats on the engagement, Kel! Or, have you proposed yet? Either way, sending positive vibes your way!

I also like that he seems to be a true spy as well as a badass. Brosnan was almost a parody, I had a hard time believing he could kick anyone's ass, he looked out of place everywhere he went (no wonder they identified him in North Korea in Die Another Day). Plus he went around telling everyone his name was James Bond. The my favorite thing about Connery was he did spy stuff, he had a cover story with Universal Exports, plus he had all these spy tricks to figure out if he was being followed or if someone had been in his room. I mean he had the Q Branch gadgets, but he also knew how to do things like the hair on the doorframe, so he didn’t have to rely on the gadgets for everything.

Thanks redrobin27. I proposed last month. It went really well. The funny thing was after I tried on the watch, the guy offered me a free Omega Watch catalog. I had to turn him down, because I wanted to keep the ring shopping a secret and I knew if my girlfriend found the catalog she would know something was up. Also unfortunately the watch, as expensive as it is, doesn’t come with any kind of lasers or a pull out garrote.

Those are quite expensive additions to the watch.
And I wouldn't mind seeing Q, at least. Hell, my friend and I thought a member of Q branch was the guy in the last film talking Bond through his portable defibrillator kit instructions.

I thought Brosnan was good for the first couple of movies, but yeah, when the invisible car showed up, the series just wasn't the same.

I think it's too early to have a Q character. I'm still interested in learning about this Bond.

I wouldn't mind Q as long as the gadgets are very basic. Things like a mini-camera or recording device (or of course the neck garrote in the watch) would be fine, but they better stay invisible cars or espionage surf boards. Or even just have Q be the guy back at MI-6 who briefs Bond on how to deal with computers and such.

I'm actually curious to see Olga Kurylenko as one of the "Bond girls." I've only seen her in that movie Hitman, and while that movie sucked as a whole, I actually thought she was decent and brought something to her role in it, that the movie didn't deserve. So, I'm curious to see how she could handle a hopefully good movie. Of course I'll admit that I do find her gorgeous, so I'm hoping she has talent to back up her looks.

I wonder what Quantum stands for? Apparently it's the new version of SPECTRE.
Don't mean to sound like a smarty pants here, but in case you still don't have an answer to the above, 'Quantum' doesn't stand for anything, at least not according to the original story by Ian Fleming.
'Quantum of Solace' is one of five short stories that appears in Fleming's 'For Your Eyes Only'. I doubt the movie will follow the original storyline because in the original, Bond is an observer relating events and not a participant. If you're interested, here's the description of what 'Quantum of Solace" is according to the book:
Quantum of Solace - the amount of comfort. Yes, I suppose you could say that all love and friendship is based in the end on that. Human beings are very insecure. When the other person not only makes you feel insecure but actually seems to want to destroy you, it's obviously the end. The Quantum of Solace stands at zero".
The choice of this title for the movie suggests to me that the new film may continue the theme of how Bond becomes Bond which was started in Casino Royale... i.e., we'll see the completion of his evolution into the hard, emotionless, super ass kicking machine that he's supposed to be. Just a wild guess as a hard core Bond geek. And Daniel Craig will look damn hot.

Turns out there's more to that mouthful of a title than meets the eye. Along with being the name of an obscure Ian Fleming short story, QUANTUM is the new SPECTRE-like organization James Bond will be battling in this latest 007 adventure.

If you're interested, here's the description of what 'Quantum of Solace" is according to the book:
I saw an interview on ET or something with the director back when they were filming and he explained that that the Quantum of Solace describes the solace that Bond is looking for after the death of Vesper. Now this is just me guessing but I am sure before he can have his solace he will get his payback.

Craig certainly has come a long way from the days of "craignotbond.com".

*nods* Oh yes, please. Those trunks need a spot on all those lists that have Ursula Andress and her bikini as in the no 1 spot - Daniel and those trunks deserve that spot, imo!
I do appreciate that Craig's Bond is a true badass,
Me too. I love how throughly Daniel and the movie proved he can do Bond. The bad press before Casiono Royale still sticks in my mind, but after seeing Daniel in "The Mother" I was so curious to see what he could do as Bond.
but they were way too goofy, and once they actually cast Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist, I pretty much gave up on it.
Yeah, Denise Richards as "Christmas" in those shorts killed that movie for me. It's airing currently on cable, just after GoldenEye (hello, Sean Bean) and I've been debating whether to see it or not...I don't think I will, everytime I do consider it, I keep thinking: Denise Richards. Nuclear Scientist named Christmas.

Cinematical is asking for questions for Daniel Craig and Marc Forster for their upcoming Q&A with them.

I love me a good action flick. Looks like the stunts are going to be awesome. Daniel Craig in designer suits doesn't hurt either.New Trailer up.

It's a collaboration between Alicia Keys and Jack White of the White Stripes who wrote it. On first listen, I pretty much hate it. There are some Bond-esque elements in the opening, but the song really grates once the main guitar riff and vocals come in. I very much hope that this isn't the final arrangement that makes it into the movie. The Bond movie opening title sequences are usually a little piece of art in themselves and this song will kill it for me.

I have seen all the Bond movies except a couple, including the George Lazenby one. My dad is a big fan of the series, so I grew up with it. He does not understand my Craig love, and is devoted to Brosnan. I like PB too, but that era had a lot goofy stuff. Casino Royale was so good. I like the complicated, badass Bond. It's also why I liked Timothy Dalton's Bond over the Roger Moore quip variety. CR was the first time I've been truly attached to a Bond girl. Like Bond, I guess I'm going to miss Vesper/Eva Green in QoS.
I would like a Q appearance too, but I agree there was too much excessive gadgetry in certain of the films.

I wouldn't mind someone from the gadget department as well. Although I want the gadgets to be minimal. I just watched Casino Royale last week and I like that basically all he had was the fancy cell phone, the chip in his arm and the car with the hidden compartments. Plus I don't want a Q who gets all snarky with Bond since M does that so much better and she actually has the authority to do something when he pisses her off.
Lots of Tuxedo and suit wearing in the new trailer.
Also lots of falling, crashing and other real life stunts. I really liked how in Casino Royale they used what looked like amost no CG effects (if they did they weren't very visible).

The real star.Amen, mtlchickie, AMEN. I'm all about the return of the swim trunks. Petition, please.
Nov. 7 can't come fast enough. By then this will either be a solace (heh) movie or celebration!
I enjoyed the lack of obvious CGI effects as well. It's like the 90's were the training ground for CGI and now some movies can actually be made without it and it's ok.
My favorite Bond has always been Sean Connery and then Pierce, who was good mix of Sean & Roger Moore, but his last movies he was clearly phoning it in. Craig brings in a freshness and I was more than pleasantly surprised (swimtrunks notwithstanding) at how well the "craginess" worked.

Connery is the best, although I recently watched On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Lazenby was quite good also. Pierce was ok but he was almost too suave and flashy. I mean sure it works when he is in a casino or some other fancy place wearing a tux, but when he is supposed to be undercover it is just hard to buy it since he stands out so much. The one thing I like about Craig is that the guy is ripped and looks like he could actually kick the crap out of someone when required, didn’t really buy that with Brosnan.

The "other" Bond Girl Gemma Aterton, is going to be murdered. She will be drowned in oil and her body left draped over a bed in a scene deliberately reminiscent of Jill Masterston's death in Goldfinger.

Um...where do I sign? (ahem)
Just wanted to add to the Craig love. For me, he's the first one who looks and acts like what a real life "Bond" would. Daniel actually looks like he's been in a few bar fights in his life, and knows how to handle himself. (The aforementioned "cragginess" of his face.) While I enjoyed them both, Connery was too big (physically) to be believable as a secret agent who would have to blend in on missions, and Roger Moore was too concerned with bedding teh ladies to ever get anything accomplished. Pierce Brosnan was closer, in that you could believe he had the intelligence to think his way out of dangerous situations, if not necessarily the physicality to fight his way out of them. IMO, Daniel (as he plays Bond) is the perfect mix of brains and brawn for the job.
I can't wait for this movie.
