(TiVo says:) "Bad to the Drone"

Cast: Colin Ferguson (Actor), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Actor), Joe Morton (Actor), Jordan Hinson (Actor), Debrah Farentino (Actor), Ed Quinn (Actor)

Crew: Andrew Cosby (Executive Producer), Jamie Paglia (Executive Producer)

(Executive Producer)

Hmmm. It seems TiVo is being a little secretive. Let's try some other places.

(SciFi.com says:) Success comes at a price as several citizens of Eureka discover when the DoD sends a corporate fixer to town during an anti-missile test that sees the target drones threatening Eureka.

(TV Guide says:) Season 3 kicks off with a hunt for an escaped drone while Samantha Thorne (Frances Fisher) arrives on the scene to oversee the clean-up of damages caused by General Dynamics (sic).

Well, it looks like Eva Thorne's not just a ball-breaker, she's eeevil. It'll be interesting to see what she's up to. I guess the triangle is back in play, I was kinda hoping that was over. I guess Callie's gone, who will get the mustard out of Vincent's clothes now?

Awesome to see the show back. It's been way too long of a break.

I loved everyone working together to prove Eva wrong, and stop MARTHA. They did it because of Carter. It goes back to what we've seen with Stark and Carter, Stark may not like Carter, but he knows that Carter is good at his job. It is some level of respect. The only thing missing from that was Henry.

I'm guessing that Eva is part of the Consortium. We've never gotten an answer on them, and the ending of this episode hints at that. The only problem is that she wasn't the mole. We saw in season 1 that the mole that Beverly was answering to worked for Global Dynamics.

One last thing, I think I'm going to add "And don't start World War III" to random sentences now.

Darn. I can't say I'm optimistic about this season. Gave up hope when Thorne showed Carter a graph with a phenomenal increase in incidents during Carter's tenure. A) Wasn't the original premise that there had always been incidents, even when Cobb was sheriff? and B) How in holy heck could anyone lay the level of GD-inspired chaos at Carter's feet? Just so unrealistic, there's nowhere to go from that. And the Zoe-Martha parallels were just so heavy-handed. Bah.

So glad to see this show again!

I call BS on the graph showing loads of incidents since Carter started, didn't the previous sheriff suggest that such incidents were par for course in Eureka?

I am oddly happy Larry is okay. I don't know how it happened, but that butt kisser has grown on me.

I don't know I am feeling about Evil Thorne. I guess they need someone to be evil, but I just wasn't feeling her. I know she came to see GD, so she had no reason to diss Carter. I actually got upset on behalf of him.

On a shallow note, I don't like Zoey's longer hair. The part in the middle wasn't doing her any favors.

She is evil judging from that ending, so she could be trying to get Carter out of the way. Fudging stats wouldn't be something she's opposed to.

jediknight - I was thinking the same thing. She could be there to get rid of Carter. The conversation with her asking Stark about Carter sort of reinforces that. Otherwise, it makes no sense that so much blame is being put on Carter for "incidents" at GD.

And moemac, I'm in the shallow salon with you. The too-flat hair was not flattering. I think I liked the Bozo hair better.

Some of tonight went a little over the silly-line, but I did like Carter and Jo bursting into the cafe and telling everyone to get down and they just stared at him. Hee.

Good to have Eureka back!!!

Zane wasn't full out annoying tonight.

Eva is gonna shake things up in Eureka this season. Don't know what her plan is but it isn't good,

The Martha spaceship and it's brothers and sisters were taking me back to Battlestar Galactica, especially when they were flying in the air. And it was awesome that Zoe kinda saved the day by having a girl-to-girl chat with Martha.

Loved the snark between Stark and Carter. Missed how they can cut each other down yet have a grudging respect for each other too.

Not sure about Allie and Stark getting back together. Something has to happen to break them up.

It's weird but the UST between Allison and Carter seems to be gone. Am I the only one to notice this?

I really missed Ed Quinn. He's HAWT.

So Eureka does the product placement and in case that was too subtle, they have Evil Thorne (moemac FTW) point out they're doing a product placement. I don't know if that's brilliant or annoying.

I never thought of that. Her talk with Stark does make more sense with that in mind. If she wanted to take down GD, she would need to get rid of Carter.

I just assumed that either the old sherrif had lost a lot of paperwork or that the chart was an attempt to get at Carter... the numbers skewed or changed or others ignored so that she could control Carter.

In no way was Carter implied to be incompetent in the episode.

I can't wait until Henry is out of jail but I like that he's taking this seriously.

I hate Zane and he bugged whenever I saw him but I can't think of anything annoying he did.

Plus Zoe working at Cafe Diem gives me hope for more Cafe Diem... and I think CD is my favorite part of this show... well you know aside from Carter/Stark snark... which was on high alert tonight too.

So, am I the only one planning to watch again and pause on all of MARTHA's little text boxes?

My favorite thing about this show is how CF can take really tired dialogue and make it sound fresh.  I mean, how many of us didn't see the "I'm guessing there" line from a mile away?  Yet he pulled it off and I even laughed a little.

Yay! Eureka is back!

Definitely interested what Ms. Throne is up to as the new baddie this season, but agree with others that I'm not quite sure if I really am buying her as such. Hopefully, like this episode, the entire team/town will come together in the end to stop her nefarious plot.

I didn't even think she would have fudged the chart she showed Carter (good thinking, jediknight!)-- but I totally don't buy that there has been this tremendous spike in incidents since Carter became sheriff. All the crazy scientists were there before he arrived. Evil woman, trying to get rid of Carter. As the only one with a lick of common sense, she probably realizes he's more of a threat.

I like Zoe more and more, and I think her working at Cafe Diem is great! Also loved the Cylon Drone comment.

Boo to Stark and Allison getting together! I predict that the wedding either won't happen or they'll be broken up shortly afterwards. I'm proud of Carter for sucking it up and saying he'll be there for Allison, even though you know it was killing him.

So Eureka does the product placement and in case that was too subtle, they have Evil Thorne (moemac FTW) point out they're doing a product placement. I don't know if that's brilliant or annoying.

Right now, I'm thinking annoying. I hope we don't see Degree plastered everywhere this season.

Nope. It's times like this I'm grateful for HD. A couple of my favorite tidbits from MARTHA's tactical displays:

Townshend Protocol Successful

(after the sonic attack on Carter's Jeep)

Name: Zoe Carter
Age: 17
Address: 3 Coriolis Loop
Occupation: Student: Tesla High
GPA: 4.0
Next of Kin: Jack Carter
Natural Hair Color: Unknown

Aw, Zoe referred to MARTHA as a "cylon shuttle."

I love that freezer. It's a cook's dream.

Other than Allison and Nathan getting back together, I really liked this.

I can't believe how much I missed Fargo.

I like the idea of Nathan and Alison together, but since they're decision to get married means the relationship is doomed I'm not going to expend any energy getting excited about it.

Anyway good to have the show back.

I liked the episode. It feels like it has been a really long time since last season. I love that Zoe is working at Cafe Diem and that Jack and Allison are back to having a close friendship. I think a big part of why season 2 was less fun than season 1 was Allison spending all of her time with Stark and avoiding Jack. I wonder if the writers are BSG fans.

Well, didn't they say that eventually, Allison and Carter will get together but they want them to earn it. They don't want them to get together right away. So i guess, we'll just have to put up with Nathan and Allison. But I am glad to hear that the friendship is back between Allison and Carter.

I noticed the same thing. I just watched S2 on DVD last week and I don't remember a point where it just disappeared, so it must have been a gradual thing.

Not the best episode ever, but I'm glad to have the show back. I hope they get Henry back soon, I miss him.

I'm going to go with Brilliant. I mean really, a deoderant company "sponsoring" a defense contractor and/or the DoD? It's just such an utterly ludicrous concept for the Real World, so over-the-top, that I don't see how anyone could take it seriously.

Reminds me of Babylon 5's first season. JMS needed some product signs for the bazaar area of the station, and instead of just making up random nonexistent products, he put signs for Zima. He thought they'd be the one product everyone'd recognize that would have no actual hope of surviving hundreds of years into the future.
Then Zima became one of the sponsors of the show before those episodes aired.

I'm putting this on record early.

There's too much of a (happily coincidental) resemblance between Thorne and Beverly that the two must be related (mother and daughter?)...or the same person.

So glad that Eureka is back.

Nathan and Allison won't make it to the wedding. I just know it. I wish the writers could give Nathan something different. This triangle kind of bores me now.

J.J. Abrams is the executive producer? Geez how dense can I be?

Was the chart with the red dots specifically referring to the number of incidents occuring in Eureka, or the cost of fixing them? The second would be more in line with her financial bent, and could be blamed on the changing of the guard.

Am I the only one annoyed by the eventual pairing of Allison/Carter? Personally, I see more chemistry between Carter and SARAH.

I've nothing against Degree antiperspirant as a sponsor, but I just love the irony-meter over at Farmers' Insurance media buying office. Let me see, that was property damage claim (hole in building), auto glass coverage claim (jeep window), personal injury claim (Larry), product liability claim (Martha running amok), business loss claim (Cafe Diem), and errors & omission claim (Zoe letting Martha refuel). Did I miss anything?

An insurance company as a sponsor would have been a brilliant idea. Imagine the hilarious commercials that could have been made using clips from the show. Hurricanes, floods, pfffft!

J.J. Abrams is the executive producer? Geez how dense can I be?

I had no idea about that connection either.

Abrams isn't involved with EUREKA. It looks like whoever provided TiVo with their info scrambled the cast of EUREKA with the crew of LOST.
