Ok then, I'm not exactly sure who to lynch.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's virtually impossible to tell the first round. I know in Heroes Mafia we usually leave clues in the story pointing at one of the villains, but even then we usually vote not to lynch the first night.

(Confirmed, BTW.)

When I've played in person (never did this online), once someone was killed we were supposed make up alibis for ourselves. Is that what we are supposed to do here? Or are we just supposed to randomly select someone to hang?

Usually we're given clues and try to dissect them (and, they ALWAYS point to GrannyApple, even if she isn't playing), then, when we think we know who the clue is pointing to or if new information comes, we lynch that person.

Well, what we do in the Heroes Mafia is...

1 No Lynch (The Mad Maple), 4 to (no) lynch

Here is an example, elaborating on what The Mad Maple said:

Well, ExamplePlayer has been acting suspicious, and based on his last couple of posts, I'm just going to vote: ExamplePlayer

Let's assume several others have voted, I'd post the votes on each page.

ExamplePlayer: (Player1, OtherPlayer, Third)
OtherExample: (APlayer)
No Lynch: (The Fifth Voter)

Not Voting: Player 6, Player 7, Player 8

With 8 Players alive, it takes four to lynch

So you have to ask yourself: Why wandkat? Who would kill her?

Let's say I'm The Mad Maple. She could ask Abril why she isn't innocent. Abril would then have to explain why and provide an alibi (since you mentioned it) and convince others she is part of the town. Everyone is a suspect. Start asking eachother questions, and interrogate. There is a killer on the loose.

This is day 1, right?

Does that mean the bad guys got to go first? I think that's what's throwing me off. When I've played, the good guys get to go first.

Bad guys went first this time.

I say no lynch since we don't have anything to go on really. I didn't know the victim.

Vote Count
No Lynch: (zombygirl, ButterflyBandit)

Not voting: (The Mad Maple, CarsonMcKay, fay, bluejaylove, AbrilOrchid, Split Ends)

With 8 players alive, it takes 4 players to lynch (or no lynch).

Remember, if you vote, you can unvote, but if it hits 4, all decisions are final, and it goes to night.

If you look back, you'll see that I started the "no lynch" vote.

(And don't we need a majority? That would be 5 out of 8, not 4.)

Ah, sorry Mad Maple. I wasn't sure if that was an example, or a vote. But 7/8 want a no lynch. And 5 would be majority.

After the brutal murder of wandakat, the town was unable to charge someone with the crime, leading to no lynch. It is now night, and the murdererers are still on the loose.

At this time it's night again. Will the mafia please make your decision privately about who your second victim will be.

ETA:

With none of the mafia caught, they got together again, and this time, they whacked off AbrilOrchid, who is now at the bottom of the bay, with cement on her feet. She has been drowned by the mafia. With two of your citizens brutally murdered by the organized crime, a vote has been put out to lynch another person.

It is now Day 2. This time, I would definitely lynch someone. You have already lost two players. If you want, you can vote no lynch, but I would definitely discuss things over. You have no deadline as of now, so take your time. Build a case against a player who you think is mafia (or if you are a mafia member, convince the town that another townie is actually mafia, or just follow the votes of someone you know isn't). With 7 alive, it takes 4 to lynch.

A girl goes to a wedding in Montana and suddenly she's a suspect for mafia crime.

the murdererers are still on the loose.

Murdererers! Now we're getting serious!

I guess I vote lynch, but I have no idea how to build a case against someone. Unless my case is built much like my method of betting on greyhound races: picking names I like.

Hmm...seems it's gotten a little distracted. I know I got distracted. I've spent the past month purchasing web space and setting up the mafia site I run. I dunno - I think it works better with themes. Like, the mafia site I have consistently has one Heroes-themed mafia. We have three others about to start - Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Veronica Mars and Smash Brothers - where the users adopt characters and have special role-related powers to use in the game.

Maybe that'd make this run better if people were playing as other characters.

I don't know. If you'd like some examples of how I'm used to doing it, you can check out www.mafiaheaven.net ... It takes you to the arcade first, but, if you click home, it goes to the game forum. We'll have an archive up soon of our old games for ideas.

What if we did well known heroes and well known villains from different tv shows (for villains, Boss Hogg, Mr. Burns, and Lex Luthor).

I like the way the Mafia game in the Heroes forum works, with the mod writing stories which may or may not contain clues to the villain's identities. It adds a fun element to the game.

Frankly, I figured this thread would be doing the same thing, only with a wider pool of characters to choose from.

I know, Maple. That's how I'm used to doing all mafias. This one was kind of jarring in that I'm unused to doing it any other way.

I thrive on my Google ability and must have stories with potential clues (which will always, in some way, point to GrannyApple, as is the law).
