I hate this movie even before seeing any of it.  It just makes me sad.  I love the book (well, all her books).

Let's Be Cops

Starring: Damon Wayans, Jake Johnson and Nina Dobrev

It looks silly but I did laugh a lot during the trailer.

The scene with the sorority sisters reminds me of the classic This American Life story Squirrel Cop.

First Lucy trailer.  Looks really good.

It looks terrible.  I remain unconvinced that Scarlett Johannson can act.  Now I guess we're supposed to believe she has action chops.

Luc Besson, what happened to you?

And...

"It is estimated that most human beings only use 10% of the brain's capacity..."

Fuck you movie.

Despite 'ten percent of your brain', I think it looks really entertaining.

I'm pretty convinced, especially when it's the right role, but that's true of a lot of actors. People knock Stallone but that first Rocky and that first Rambo? Fantastic. I was captivated by just Scarlett's voice in Her and I thought she was great as the Black Widow in the Marvel movies and good notices in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I want it to do well just because I want them to make a Black Widow solo movie.

I want it to do well because I want to see more female led action movies, and I'm tired of seeing all these over-the-hill male action stars continue to get movie after movie. (I hear they want Schwarzenegger to play The Terminator again in the upcoming "reboot", for goodness sake.)

Or Sylvester Stallone. Don't forget him.

I mean, at the very least, Liam Neeson hasn't been doing action movies since the 1980's. And he's actually pretty convincing given that boxer's body.

With you there. I saw red when Stallone posted that tweet last year, "A young Sigorney Weaver anywhere out there?" Dude, why not the actual Sigourney Weaver? She's younger than you, and was doing action roles as recently as The Cold Light of Day in 2012.

I'm actually quite surprised that he hasn't contacted her.  I can understand looking for a younger actress to fit in with the rest of the cast but why not tap Sigourney to stand next to him, Arnold, and Bruce.  Seems like a no brainer.

I, Origins. I am not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but I do tend to enjoy movies that deal with religion and science. My two favorite teachers ever were my insanely smart 11th grade Physiology teacher who was a devout Muslim and my Biology teacher my sophomore year in college....who was a Catholic Priest. Anyway, I enjoy these kinds of movies when they're not preachy or condescending, so I hope this one is good. It got pretty great reviews out of Sundance.

Pioneer. Here's an annoying fact: George Clooney and Grant Heslov are adapting this Norwegian thriller for American audiences even though the bulk of the original film appears to be . . . . in English.

I never saw that tweet, but I'm belatedly seeing red with you. What the actual fuck is wrong with that man?!?!

Or a song by OMD. One needs a pronoun change, the other a swap of a conjunction/auxiliary verb.

Not bad. It looks like they went with relative unknowns that can actually sing, rather than the typical "let's get big name stars and hope auto-tune is enough!" that you usually get with musical adaptions.

John Lloyd Young, who plays Frankie Valli, played him for two years on Broadway. Vincent Piazza played Lucky Luciano on Boardwalk Empire.

I think Young played Valli in London as well - he's made a career just doing this role.
