The premiere of "Eli Stone" finished the ABC sweep with a 7.3/12 at 10 p.m. CBS got a 7.1/12 from "Without a Trace," while a second hour of "The Apprentice" on NBC improved to 5.7/9.

First place. So far so good. Let's hope it doesn't lose too many next week.

Anyone know how many viewers that number translates to? Also, the thread title is funny :)

From Pifeedback

Eli premired with roughly 11.63 million viewers.

10:00 ABC 7.8/12 4.6/12 12,509,000
10:30 ABC 6.9/12 3.8/11 10,747,000

The show dropped at the half hour, which is kind of worrying, but a majority of shows this season have been premiring big like Eli and then tapering off for one reason or another.

Last night's ratings from zap2it:
Second place.

"Eli Stone" dropped off from its premiere, scoring a 6.0/10 (it did, however, win the hour in adults 18-49).

Does anyone know how these numbers compare to like week 2 of Big Shots? It seems like Eli has better numbers and more positive press than BS, but I can't prove that I don't think.

Found this in the Big Shots thread:

All of the 10 p.m. dramas declined as well, although "Without a Trace" (14.5 million, 3.8/11) came in a nose ahead of ABC's "Big Shots" (8.7 million, 3.7/10) and NBC's "ER" (9 million, 3.7/10). Last week, "Big Shots" premiered with 11.1 million viewers and a 4.5/12 in adults 18-49.

And from pifeedback for October 25 which is episode 5:

Grey’s Anatomy (Viewers: #1, 17.95 million; A18-49: #1, 7.3/15) and Big Shots (Viewers: #4, 8.08 million; A18-49: #3t, 3.3/ 7). Retention for failing Big Shots out of Grey’s Anatomy was just 45 percent in both total viewers and adults 18-49. And the loss of audience for Big Shots at 10:30 p.m. was a hefty 2.10 million viewers (9.13 to 7.03 million) and 26 percent among adults 18-49 (3.8/ 7 to 2.8/ 7). Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking.

It looks like the fact that Big Shots wasn't holding on to Grey's audience is what killed it, only keeping 45%.

They're going down:

Tied for first at 10 p.m. was a repeat of CBS’ Without a Trace (Viewers: #1, 9.63 million; A18-49: #3, 2.3/ 7) and week three of quirky ABC drama Eli Stone (Viewers: #2, 7.82 million; A18-49: #1, 2.8/ 8).
...
Retention for ... Eli Stone out of Lost was just 57 percent in total viewers and 49 percent in the demo.

A repeat of CBS’ Without a Trace led the 10 p.m. hour, with 12.09 million viewers and a 3.0/ 8 among adults 18-49 (actually building from the CSI encore by 170,000 viewers). Second was ABC’s Eli Stone (Viewers: 7.61 million; A18-49: 2.7/ 7), which lost more than half of the Lost audience in the demo, followed by NBC’s Lipstick Jungle at a very disappointing 5.78 million viewers and a 2.5/ 6 among adults 18-49

Looks like it's going to average seven and a half million viewers. I wonder if that's enough for ABC to keep it around.

Last night's ratings:

CBS was the most-watched network at 10 p.m. care of a repeat of Without a Trace, while ABC’s Eli Stone was first among adults 18-49. But retention of only 50 percent in the demo out of Lost still lands Eli Stone in the loser’s listing. Take a look:

Thursday 10 p.m.
Without a Trace R (CBS)
Viewers: 10.36 million (#1), A18-49: 3.3/ 9 (#1)

Eli Stone (ABC)
Viewers: 7.46 million (#2), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#1)

Number 1 in the demo is good news I suppose. I'd like it to stick around, I think once they've worked through some of the problems with the characters it'll be an entertaining show.

It looks like it carries the demos, which is good, but it keeps losing at halftime. WHat's up with that I wonder.

I thougth that, but the other two shows it's up against don't have the same drop off. Between CBS and NBC there's only a .1 difference (all coming from NBC), for Eli it's .7. That seems significant.

Well, I turned it off at halftime. Once they got past the plot twist of how Eli was going to save his brother from being suspended, it wasn't worth watching because I figured Eli was going to keep his job. The problem with the show isn't the concept, it is just that the storylines aren't set up in suspenseful enough ways to warrant it being an hour long show. Too much time is spent on the case and too little time spent on Eli's personal life. I prefer how Samantha Who? handles a similar concept (waking from a coma and deciding to be a good person rather than return to smirky, evil plotting ways)--completely comic and the plot is zippier because it is a half hour sitcom.

I like that it's more character than plot driven, though. After the big reveal, we got an amazing scene with Eli and Jordan. The aftermath was intense and even within the scene I was holding my breath from the tension. So, I don't know what causes the drop-off, but I think it might be different things for different people.

I assumed that the reason ABC was letting Lost run a couple minutes long everytime was to prop up the show after it (Eli Stone) in the ratings - so it would look like high ratings for the first half of the show (because it's really Lost for the first two minutes), even though people aren't watching Eli, they're watching Lost and then turning it off, thus the drop-off for the 2nd half hour. Not sure if that's how it works?

That said, it's a shame the ratings aren't better for this show. It can be pretty heavy-handed with the sappiness, but any show that brings Victor Garber back to network TV is okay by me.

Ok, they release the episode description for 'I Want Your Sex.':

"I Want Your Sex" - When a teenaged girl is expelled for playing George Michael's "I Want Your Sex" during an abstinence education assembly at school, the pop superstar (playing himself) retains Eli's legal counsel on the girl's behalf, THURSDAY, MARCH 27 (10:02-11:00 p.m., ET), on ABC's "Eli Stone." Jordan coyly assigns himself to the case alongside Eli, failing miserably to hide his obsessive adoration for the singer.

Ratings from PIFeedback:

A repeat of CBS’ Without a Trace (Viewers: #1, 9.91 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.4/ 7) and ABC’s Eli Stone (Viewers: #2, 7.31 million; A18-49: #1, 2.5/ 7) shared top rated honors at 10 p.m. But retention for Eli Stone out of Lost of only 62 percent in viewers and 52 percent in the demo makes it a “loser.”

I don't know. Maybe being first in the demo is going to be enough to bring it back next year. Unless ABC has some amazing dramas in development I think it has a shot. Maybe with another lead in, nothing seems to do well after 'Lost'.

I've always believed that Lost was a horrible lead in because people immediately go to the internet to discuss the episode as soon as it finishes. I think that Alias did well following it (that season was Alias' highest rated season, and from a fan POV it was uneven at best), but those two shows were cut from the same cloth, they naturally went together. Lost isn't a natural match for anything. I've always felt that ABC screwed Alias by not giving it the Lost lead in during it's final season. Now I hope it doesn't screw Eli by giving it Lost as a lead in.

There's only one more LOST episode before April 24. I think if ES holds on to the audience it currently has once LOST is gone, they'll have a pretty good chance of getting picked up. Especially since it's doubtful ABC has much in the pipeline due to the strike. Do we know what ES's new leadin will be? It might benefit from being on at 9:00 instead of 10:00.
