I read Carole Radziwill's book and really really liked it, and had great admiration for her writing and her journalism career. She came from pretty middle-class roots and ended up married to a "Prince" (Anthony Radziwill) who was a cousin and best friend to JFK Jr. Anthony battled cancer for most of their marriage, and died a few weeks after JFK Jr. and his wife died in the plane crash. But finding out she had signed on for Housewives, and some of the glimpses of her in the preview have me worried. I'm probably going to end up loathing her.

She seems to classy for RHONY. Surprised she even signed up. Rich, sophisticated, classy women do not appear on Real Housewives.
She doesn't need the money so maybe it is a business venture, she needs to shove down our throats- I don't know. As long as she brings drama- I am alright.
So far, from promos/intros/what I have read- she seems nice, normal, classy. All the things that RH does not represent. I am curious as to why she has signed up.
Apparently, she was a journalist on CNN- for the life of me, I don't understand, why did she sign up to some trashy reality show?

I don't waste my time wondering why any of these vapid women agree to appear on the HW shows. Just give me a bowl of popcorn and let me enjoy the trainwreck these people provide me with every week; that's what they're paid for. Nothing deep going on here.

Scary Island is the gift that keeps on giving.

Seriously, if there were ever episodes that were opened up, so to speak, so we could see ALL the footage... I'd pay real money to see SCary Island Uncut.

I was really bummed that they closed this thread right before Scary Island. Made me wonder if the mods felt sorry for Kelly. I would have called an ambulance if I had been there, she needed short stay in the puzzle factory.

She really is a clueless individual who has no education and has gotten by on her looks alone. When I watch someone that dumb enjoy such a fabulous life it does get to me, but I suppose she's so happy because she has no idea what's going on around her. Like a dog getting a belly rub, she lives in the moment.

I won't miss Jill as a matter of fact Jill being ousted made me to decide to give this season a look-see. I'll miss Alex but I am willing to give the new Housewives a chance. Scary Island was classic Housewife viewing. I'm not sure why I have little hope of an interesting season-hopefully I'm wrong. Actually I'm looking forward to BH, can't wait to see how Brandy will be treated now that she's a full fledged "housewife".

"You are both white trash, quite frankly." God I am already in love with Aviva!

What does Ramona screech back? "All done" or "Uh duh" or something else...

I think Ramona is yelling "Calm Dowwwwnnn!"

I already don't like Aviva for the white trash remark. The phrase white trash doesn't sit well with me ... there are only a very few reasons someone would distinguish trashy people by thier race, and all of them say something ugly about the person who uses the phrase imho.

Like weedgrl, I'll be watching since Jill is not back. She was so awful the last few seasons. I would not mind if The Countess would leave as well.

I also read Carole Radziwell's book and was surprised to hear she was doing this show.

I'm thinking perhaps it's to promote some of her foundations or charitable endeavors. Other that, I have no clue why someone of her presumed stature would lower herself and allow puppetmaster Andy to pull her strings.

Here's hoping to a drama-filled, snarkworthy season 5!

I think recently 'white trash' is often used instead of 'trailer trash', and most people don't think of it in a racial term, but more for the 'trash' factor. Unfortunately there is a race attached to it, but IMO, it's used in a benignly ignorant way. Some people are trash. Ramona and Sonja have dipped into that territory when they look more like 2 boozy hags swilling wine from a bottle and flashing their bits like unkempt coke whores as opposed to UES 'Ladies'. Both get loud, rude and boorish when they drink and aren't both rounding the corner heading towards 60?

ETA: Sorry, Ramona's the only one over 55, Sonja is supposedly only 49. ;-)

Ohnoes! The Scary Island episodes! But they are running opposite to Lifetime's Tainted Love Marathon! Scary Island? Or Meridith Baxter Birney getting all murderous in A Woman Scorned? Why must every holiday be Sophie's Choice?

We are free to agree to disagree I suppose!

That said, I can't wait for this season to start. I'm curious how it will be without Jill. And apparently Alex has signed up for that 'Dial a Star' service that NJ's Danielle Staub does for money as well.

Bravo just posted a couple of previews from Episode 1 on their website. Things are already tense and the show hasn't even started ... thanks Ramona! LOL!

The first clip is Ramona and Mario giving Heather digs for not letting them get a word in edgewise and "talking too fast". Heather reacts in an equally interesting way... but for the entire 2 minutes of the clip, Ramona won't stop talking repeating herself "You talk too fast! You talk too fast! It's not nice to cut people off!" - Way to make new friends, Ramona!

Second clip is a characteristic Ramona v. LuAnn fight. LuAnn tries to talk to Ramona and Ramona refuses... walking away and instead doing her "darling" imitations of LuAnn to Mario. Now that Jill and Kelly aren't there to help LuAnn against Ramona (on camera at least. LOL!) it seemed to end a little more peacefully (and quickly) than usual? LOL.

I wonder if LuAnn will cozy up to the new girls more than Ramona is? I guess it makes sense since Ramona still has her BFF Sonja on board, but LuAnn lost all her fellow brunettes. From the looks of Twitter, though, it seems like LuAnn is still rather close with Kelly and especially close with Jill - but I wonder how she will get along with the new women. We know from the previews how Ramona and Sonja get along with them! LOL!

Diorella78 writes,

Alex and Simon are obviously sheepish about their involvement with "Dial A Star", because they do not mention the name (Dial A Star) on Twitter or in any of their posts on Facebook. Instead, they refer vaguely to a "service" for fans who "have a question". ‎"Dial A Star" was created by Gina Rodriquez, a former porn actress, who explains, "The money is available to them immediately. They donít have to wait. So they can be like, ĎOh Iím broke, I need money for lunch. Iíll take some calls.Ē

Alex and Simon plan to charge $25.00 per MINUTE for conversation. Danielle Staub is available for $24.00 per minute. Octomom is more affordable at $14.00 per minute. Other personalities accessible through "Dial A Star" include Capri Anderson, an escort who had a "transaction" with Charlie Sheen; "Limo Bob", the owner of the world's longest limousine; many actors and models; and, of course, former reality show cast members. A participant in one of the many "Real World" seasons is the one of the most affordable at $6.00 per minute.

Although "Dial A Star" has lurid, tabloid overtones, I sympathize with Alex and Simon's participation. Like many of us in this sagging economy, they are scrambling to support their family with any legal option that is available. Alex and Simon clearly need the money because they could skype or supply a toll-free telephone number if they if they merely wanted to provide a "service" for fans who "have a question".

I've read reports that say LuAnn is indeed more close to the new girls. Ramona was close to one of the new girls Aviva but that relationship soured. Sonja also hates Aviva and actually just a few days ago Sonja said Aviva only does charity for show. Ramona hates the other new girl Heather. Things between them got so bad they refused to be in the same room, which delayed filming.

Oh my, I am cracking up at the website for Dial a "Star."

Alex and Simon plan to charge $25.00 per MINUTE for conversation. Danielle Staub is available for $24.00 per minute. Octomom is more affordable at $14.00 per minute.

You can also call Alex and Simon separately at a reduced fee. For that privilege, Alex is charging $20 (the same rate as Wink Martindale and Tila Tequila) and Simon is charging $15 (the same rate as a bunch of porny-looking people of whom I've never heard).

I don't believe in "white trash" as a good way to describe someone either (also dislike any slur toward people who live in trailor parks. Why stigmatize a whole group of people you don't even know--and have probably never met?)

But the thing that bothers me about "white trash"--it's a pretty "older generation" slur, imo, which probably came from the woman's parents along, imo, with some other bigotry (the phrase is both racially bigoted and classist).

I can't help wondering if, being so classist, it was a dig at Sonya and Ramona's economically humble beginnings. So, so far, ... unimpressed.

Watched the Scary Island repeat today and there is nothing--nothing--that could happen this season to make me miss Jill.

As for Bethenny, she seemed like a different person--not always "on", she could shut up and listen, her talking in scenes and in THs was so much less manic, so much calmer.

I have no proof, but I totally believe that she got addicted to Adderall after Brynn's birth (for quick weight loss--which she did accomplish) and has remained on it ever since (maybe because she appreciated the diet benefits plus added energy). She's so different now (so manic, nasty, and so much worse), that I'm guessing "substance abuse" is the reason (and that the substance is Adderall rather than, say, cocaine.)

It wouldn't surprise me if Ramona is addicted, too, especially after that conversation in the previous season when the three women (Ramona, Luann and Sonja or Kelly) met at the bar and talked about Adderall.

IMO it started on Ramona's end because Mario and Luann always seem to have some sexy, witty banter going (and I think Ramon-er was jealous). However, I think when Luann sided more with Jill overall, things completely soured. I may be forgetting any other direct conflicts. Pinot Singer will be interesting this season.
