For the first time ever, ten teams of two will compete against each other. The ten teams, including a mother and son, husband and wife, best friends, brothers, and a divorced couple, will have to pick their trainer, compete in challenges and weigh-in together. In their first week, the teams will have to pull a giant hot air balloon across a field, and the winner will receive a two-pound advantage at the weigh-in.

And I thought Bruce Vilanch had already done "Celebrity Fit Club."
Well, it is still two hours...and too much filler. But, I'm TBL's bastard!

I KNEW Lynn didn't want to be there. I felt sorry for his daughter, and wonder how she really treated him once they got back.....
The trip to the morgue...I can't decide if that was too over-the-top or not, but maybe it's like the scared straight trips for teens.
All I know is....I wish I could get my husband on board! I'd like to do the America challenge.

I feel for Jenni as she REALLY wanted to be there and having her dad bail on the evening workouts was a warning flag that this wasn't going to end well for them. I don't know why Lynn couldn't do the bike. You would think with the calcium building around his heart would get his ass into gear.
Finally, Team Pink is Team Pepto-Bismal to me. Bettie-Sue whines and Ali cries. Both of them do it a lot. Thus giving me nausea, heartburn and indigestion.
Normally I wouldn't watch the entire season but since we have a certain strike continuing, looks like I'll stick it out. If anything, it motivated me to jump on the bike and treadmill while watching.

Of course, Bob and Jillian rock just as much as ever.

The expletives that were coming out of my mouth as those huge numbers kept coming up. How do you lose 20 lbs in a week?!?!?!
I thought it normally takes them a little while to get going....
I think the numbers in week 1 are typically pretty large - lots of teens and always some 20s. There was even a 30, I believe, in season 4.
I don't doubt that the teams all water load before the initial weigh in, and that their real starting weights aren't QUITE as high as they appear.

I guess I am the only one who likes the Pinkies. I know so many women like that lady. I felt really bad for the yellow team ex-wife when he said one of them gave up on the marriage and made her cry. The two football teammates could go far if they keep working.

I was not surprised to see the green team go. I felt bad for Jenni because she obviously wanted to be there, too bad her dad clearly did not.
That's exactly why I was suprised to see them go. I thought the other teams would go into strategic mode sooner rather than later, given the individuals vs. team approach. Reality tv rule #1 is to keep around the people who kinda don't want to be there, because they'll be an easy boot later.
Extexlady, Bob is gay, so that's a big no on the couple question. But it's a shame, cause wouldn't their offspring kick some ass?

Valid point. I didn't consider that. I think the voting off the bigger threat stuff usually doesn't start till mid season. At least this seemed to be the case last season which is the most fresh in my mind.

OK, what was the tease at the end with Bob announcing he and Jillian are becoming the "dynamic duo"? You don't think, ulp, they are a couple do you?
My vote is that they've decided to team up to train all the couples. Meanwhile, does this group seem to be a more emotional group than past groups, or what????

Well, that wuould explain it.I don't doubt that the teams all water load before the initial weigh in, and that their real starting weights aren't QUITE as high as they appear.
Youre not the only one. Based on attitude (as edited by producers) she should have gone home. Word about Paula Dean. If Betty Sue intends to win this, she is going to have to forget all about Ms Dean.I know I will be the only one on this boat but I cannot take the drama of Betty-Sue Boop.
And what is with the reading glasses? Is she trying to be TBL's answer to Paula Deen? Spare us all.

Bruce Vilanch. That's so great.
Otherwise, interesting. I like the team aspect of it as well.
As said above, weight comes off easily at first, but then you have to work harder and change things up to keep up the momentum. Definitely water and toxins from drinking water versus soda contribute.
That one husband...what a whiner. Sheesh.

We weren't sure if it was they were teaming up to train, or something else. Bob's gay?
I don't know what exactly they're teaming up to do. I guess to give combined beatings. Two for the price of one and all that. Those poor people...
You might want to check your gay-dar. lol j/k I've always known he was gay. Well, not 'known'...can't ever truly know that stuff. Just assumed, I guess.

Uh, who's Paula Dean?

That doesn't really make sense because they're sort of competing against each other, too, right?I guess to give combined beatings. Two for the price of one and all that. Those poor people...
I'd like it if one team member was voted off and the other team member had to work out separately sort of like Season 3 when they had the at-home group.

Not so much with this set-up, IMO. Even Jillian said she hated the format. And Bob talked about how they're all just competing against each other.
Whatever the case, I just like watching those two interact, so it should be great fun.

I'm not sure. Bob and Jill are definitely competitive, but in the Biggest Loser Australia, it was more beneficial for the losers AND the tv audience when Bob and Jill teamed up to help the contestants train. They're both very different trainers, and the contestants will be able to get the benefits of both. And the viewers get to see them in all of their lovey brother/sister glory.
"Jillian is my co-worker, she is my confidante, and I trust her." <----said Bob during BL Australia. Awwwwe.
Anyway, back to the show. I didn't like Betty Sue from jump because of her constant bitching and mean mugging for the camera. That, and she reminds me of crazy ass "God Warrior" Margarite Perrin of Trading Spouses fame. I can see the Paula Deen comparisons too.
TPTB are some cold mo'fos, totally doing away with the red team and not a mention about Kim. Not that I'm complaining.
