From Zap2it:

Earl is surprised to find a fellow inmate (Michael Rapaport) is someone both he and Joy know.

Not a good time to be Al Roker. In a bee costume on 30 Rock and rocking a vagina on this show.

"Sorry, he identified me and I panicked." made me laugh way to hard.

That was some major continuity porn. Damn.

Randy blowing a second hole in the fridge was probably by biggest laugh out loud moment of the episode.

I love that Earl was freaked out about the casino job. That really is way beyond him, and I don't know that he could ever really threaten anyone.

What did the U.S. government do when Crab Man was 4? I love that this is a mystery.

"Look at the vagina on Al Roker." No thank you!

I missed the first few eps, but this was hilarious.

I'm going to be saying "Look at the vagina on Al Roker" for a very long time.

"Me and Paco reserve the right to use the refrigerator and sink/bath"

What else does Randy have to do before someone takes the gun out of his hand?????????????

I really loved tonight's episode. I like to see these kind of episodes where we get to see the back story of all the characters, kind of like the Y2K episode. I liked how we're always shown a little bit more of Crabman and the WPP. "Oh, it's only optional", the instructor says as Crabman's removing his fingerprints..lol.. If I remember correctly, I think it was the Bounty Hunter episode where Earl and Randy were both at the Crab Shack when they met Joy. Randy wasn't sitting at home on the couch (he was licking the pool chalk, as Joy was trying to find a man, but that's a minor inconsistency). I thought the kidnapping of Howie Mandel was hilarious, especially with the rubber glove, since Howie has a fear of germs in real life.

Also, I'm just curious since I just recently registered, when you log in to the site, does it take you back to the list of TV show forums? It does for me and I kind of find that annoying if I log in on the Earl forum page. Once I do make my way to the Earl forum, it usually logs me out, and I have to start over. It has done it to me over a dozen times, and has prevented me from posting a few times. I've tried on other computers and get the same result.

I also want to let LiberryLady know that I haven't forgot about the Wikipedia pages. I've just been real busy with school, work, and my thesis paper (so please don't think I'm purposely neglecting them).

Tim Stack in a diaper? What a sport, and quite funny. That poor Japanese businessman, he looked so lost and angry about it. Draw a dragon on the vodka bottle. I loved that we find out how they got the trailer and the El Camino. And the call back to Catalina in a box.

Why does this show seem to fly by and yet the Office just drags and drags. I find the writing far more consistent, funnier and strangely enough more down to earth than the Office. They cast, writers etc all really seem to inhabit Earl's universe and take us along for the ride.

Oh, and Joy peeing in the store? Priceless.

When Catalina speaks in Spanish, it's usually a message to the viewers, right? Someone translate pls!

And hey - her mom attacked her first. It's kill or be killed, ya'll!

I love that Tim was served a beer, a martini, a cocktail and a shot. At once.

What did the U.S. government do when Crab Man was 4?

I have a sneaking suspicion the answer is so top secret that it's probably in Chuck's head.

Ha, I know. My brother's ridiculously into cars so I can hardly wait to use that around him.

Loved the way everything tied together at the end.

This is the most consistently funny show on TV. EVen better than The Office and 30 Rock. Those shows are good, but Earl is just seems a step ahead of all of them right now. The writing is just perfect and the cast of characters they keep introducing is the most diverse and funniest on TV since the SImpsons debuted. The "cadillac of cars", Crabman scraping off his fingerprints, Joy discovering she SAVED Earl from jail in a weird way, the robbers hitting the FBI van.....it just goes on and on. And it takes either some serious planning ahead or some VERY creative thinking to so seemlessly work all that in and explain so much in one episode. They completely threw the show for a loop in season three yet still manage to make it funnier.

Man, I love the Office and 30 Rock, but I think Earl won the battle of the funny tonight. "I don't feel a wedding ring on your finger" Oh my god, I did an auditory version of the spit take and sort of barked/laughed. It scared my dog.

Oooh, I do believe that you're right but I can forgive that one misstep in an otherwise excellent episode. Tim Stack really is a good sport but after being on Son of the Beach he would have to be.

CactusChef, that log out problem seems to go in waves on TWoP. When you log in, it does take you back to the list of tv shows. It's not just you. (And it's cool about the wikipedia page. I think it's great you're updating it. No pressure!)

Did Tim Stack write this episode? Doesn't he usually write the ones he's in?

Heh, I thought Catalina's earlier line about it was "[her] or [her] mom" was just a throwaway, but then they actually used it! Yay for continuity porn!

Can't remember the exact quote, but she basically says this episode contradicts previous canon but no one will care anyway.

I can't stand Howie Mandel, if only Randy had not been sidelined by the TV.

After the season premiere, my dad turns to me and says "So how long before something happens and Earl's not in jail anymore?" and I was thinking, yeah, in most tv shows, there will be something to bring everything back to the status quo, but I don't know about this one.

So tonight I really started thinking that maybe the next two years of the show really will have Earl in jail the whole time. Which would be awesome! They showed tonight they can do stories that take the viewers out of the jail setting while leaving Earl there.

At least once a week I'm amazed by what they can get away with this show, at 8:00 eastern time. This week it was something like "I don't know if he's saying saki or sucky."

I'm so tired of the Bee Movie promos, I decided I'm not going to see it, even if every critic calls it the Citizen Kane of movies.

Hee. So, what did the Japanese guy say?

I was a little disappointed that we didn't get another prison-centric episode, especially with Randy as a guard, but I guess there's plenty of time for that.

Randy was there at the Crab Shack when Earl met Joy. He was only in the scene a split second. He walked away from the pool table when Earl was making his shot. Randy probably went home when Earl left with Joy. Because Earl was in Vegas when he called Randy to let him know that he wouldn't be there for the heist. Then Randy got sidetracked watching tv. You can check it out online at NBC.com.

The only problem with continuity was with Catalina's storyline. I thought she had arrived in Camden on Y2K. Then again, maybe she arrived earlier and left when she hadn't found Paco and came back later. Maybe, the second time she came back she came by boat. Maybe, there is a possible show all about Catalina arriving in the USA.

Yeah, in the Y2K episode, when they have moved into the store, the next morning when all the shoppers show up, she is in the crowd having just arrived. But

she basically says this episode contradicts previous canon but no one will care anyway.

but as Arc said, we care!

Yes, we need the Japanese guy's dialogue translated!

I loved this ep. Cadillac of cars. Inspired.

Michael Rappaport can play this kind of role in his sleep. He was wonderful. It took me a while to remember 'Paco' from Nip/Tuck. It was nice to see him play something a bit more light-hearted. Is he still in prison? I hope we see him sometime, but what would happen if he see Catalina? In her Chubby outfit no less?

I couldn't believe Randy actually grabbed Joy's boobs! Well, he DOES admire her rack.

Didn't Earl and Joy end up having that ratty couch in their trailer? And see, even the little husband and big wife who carried that couch to curb were wonderfully cast. I love the attention to detail.

Everyone was great. I need to watch again.

And see, even the little husband and big wife who carried that couch to curb were wonderfully cast.

That was funny, and the little throwaway moments when the husband was doing everything he could to gleefully torment Earl and Randy on the sofa was hilarious.

I thought their version of Gin & Juice was awesome. It was also too funny that Frank told Howie Mandel to put the glove on his head, and then Howie couldn't seem to even do it at first. And Howie running away from that car wreck was awesome, mainly because it was more of a frantic scurry, all the while with that glove on his head.

I liked Rapaport in the role, especially since he was a pretty straightforward and congenial, take things as they come kind of guy. He's essentially Earl without the philosophical bent.

The Witness Protection class was funny, especially with how they kept teasing us with Crabman's backstory... and then STILL NOT TELLING US what it is! BWah! And then Rule # Two "No chewing gum!" and WP guy smacks that lady in the head with his pointer. The look on her face was priceless.

Again, this show is consistently funnier than other shows on TV. Also more original and creative. I loved the background story this week, even though we had seen bits and pieces of it in the past. Joy's search for a Sugar Daddy was classic, as was the Witness Protection Orientation. I applaud Greg and the show for being willing to take risks and consistently mess with their premise to make an enjoyable show.

I thought Citizen Kane was the Citizen Kane of movies!

Anyway, reading the recap and the posts on the forum makes me wish I had watched this episode. It sounds great even if it is a slap in the face to the accepted My Name is Earl backstory.

But to be honest, I am not a fan of prison Earl, and am hoping they can find a way out for him, sooner than later.
