Ned suspects that there is more to the story when an automotive expert dies in an unusual hit-and-run accident; Chuck wants answers about how Ned brought her back to life. (From my TiVo)

Between Chuck, Olive and Janine, I think that's the most cleavage I've seen on a show in a long, long time.

I think I'm in love w/ Chuck.

Chi McBride is keeping me in for now. Emerson is the only real world character on this show, so of course they have him knitting gun holsters. That look of complete non-surprise when Jeanine blew up killed me. It's weird, it's like he's from a different show.
My only thought when Olive started singing was, "What took them so long?" I bet Kristen had that written into her contract.
I will say Anna was rocking that dress.

Last week's episode was perfect for setting up the premise, but now that we've been introduced, the show is degenerating into preposterousness.

Oh my god.

That? Was better than the Pilot!

I loved the singing, I love the procedural crime dramedy because it's SO fresh and fun, I love the cutesiness, I just love everything!

Wow. That was just. Wow.

Well I knew they were going to do a musical episode eventually but I wasn't expecting it quite that soon.

I had started watching this last night on the Canadian channel but stopped because they were broadcasting it fullscreen. Imagine my surprise when ABC aired it that way too.

The dandelion car reminds me of Cousin It. I think it's the shape.

Also loved Emerson's money cozies. Hee.

I love this show, just as impressive as the first one.

Impressed with all the creative ways they are getting Chuck and Ned to touch and thought the car thing was a nice touch.

And Kristen sings! This show has the right background for it so I was wondering if the producers would ever let her show her singing talent. So glad they did because she sounds fantastic.

Knitting? Interesting hobby, very nice gun holders.

Digby is the most adorable dog I have ever seen.

I liked Olive a lot more tonight, and I was glad to see them putting Chenoweth's talents to use, but not in a cheap way (meaning not as a replacement making her character actually appealling).

Ned and Chuck are still cute.

Crash test dummies already kind of freaked me out. Now I'm going to worry about them killing me. Damn show.

Loved the knitting, Olive and I was pretty impressed with the case of the week. It was interesting and well told.

But I confess Chuck is starting to seriously annoy me. I feel like Emerson because I want Ned to touch her again already. All that last wish talk with the first victim and the horning in on the cases is not at all my cuppa.

If they change up her attitude a bit though I'll be sucked right back in.

It's so funny, and yet so expected, that they got Kristen to sing. And I totally see it happening again, judging by the line where she sings when her heart breaks, which will happen a few times...I'm sure. But you know what was even better than the singing? The kiss! I loved the kiss between Chuck and Ned, and oh my word the hand holding thing in his car. So cute, jeez.

I think I find this even more enchanting than the pilot. I love Olive's showstopper and it is since it literally stopped the show from moving on until she sang HDTY. I love that Olive thinks of herself as Sandy while Chuck is most likely Rizzo. Awesome. Another thing that made me laugh so hard was that in his heart of hearts, Emerson Cod is both my grandma and Jeff Lewis of Flipping Out (who also counts his money in the bathtub). I was amused at the pop culture shout-outs: the Titanic automobile sex complete with hand against the fogged, Jason with the mask, Freddy Krueger...

I also love the high 5 using the dandelion; it's so sweet and funny but what really made me sigh was the segment where they show how Bernard and Janine fell in love. The writing was so..."her hair a little redder, her sweater a little tighter but the smile he would get just right." Just lovely. Finally, it just amazes me how thin and seemingly tall Lee Pace is. He looks more fragile than Anna Friel. No wonder he got the job on Soldier's Girl. But I love his smile -- it just lights up his face so. I wonder how much they had to practice that smile in order to get the right amount of whimsy to it. I saw the plastic-wrapped kiss from a mile away but damn, it was so earnest and sweet that I melted like gooey chocolate. I reacted the same way with the glove. *sigh*

p.s. "You don't think these bandages make me look fat?" Bwah! Dandy Liar Sentenced to Dandy Life Behind Bars...this show kills me.

There’s no question Pushing Daisies is precious at times, but I can’t resist a show that encompasses in the space of a single episode the concept of the cheesebox, Chi McBride knitting up a storm, and Kristin Chenowith singing “Hopelessly Devoted to You” while displaying great chemistry with the salt-loving Digby. Lee Pace and Anna Friel themselves have chemistry to spare, although I squirm a bit every time they enter each other’s personal space.

My only real complaint about tonight’s episode? No loopy aunts.

Ned and Chuck sure do stand close to each other with their sleeves pulled up, don't they?

Aside from that bit of cynicism, I absolutely love this show. The murder plot in this episode wasn't my favorite thing in the world, but the Ned and Chuck interaction, as well as the musical number and the knitting, made it beyond wonderful in my eyes.

Did the actress who played the waif remind anyone of an adult version of the odd looking baby at the gynecologist's office in Knocked Up?

Anyone know if that was Anna's voice introducing the dandelion car? Or will I just assume every English accent on this show is her's?

I like this show and think it will be a keeper but these voiceovers are starting to get on my nerves. I don’t mind voiceovers especially when they are informative but these voiceovers don’t add anything. Good voiceovers like on Dexter give you a perspective that you wouldn’t get without them. Most of this show’s voiceovers just tell you what you are already seeing on screen.

Having seen the pilots months ago, I was anticipating this ep for a long time--to see whether the show would continue doing well beyond the pilot (that at times felt "self contained" to me, in that it seemed like it could be the end, or something).

To me, the show shed some of its over-the-top side (the names in the pilot were a bit overdone: "Couer de Couer", "Boutique Travel Travel Boutique", and the name of the mermaids, whatever they were ... names designed to make the narration witty) ... and continued doing well. I was interested in Janine, I outright laughed when she was eating that pie behind the revolving car and crab-walking to stay hidden. The plot was out there, but still made sense in a cartoonesque way.

And, being the romantic sucker, that last scene, in the car, made my heart break. Similar to the hand holding of episode 1. I hope they will not overuse these very emotional, and effective moments ...

*sigh*

Beautiful, again.

Was I the only one crying during Olive's scene? The song was fabulous...everything about KC is fab!!

Still loving the show and Lee Pace. It's interesting that the show is taking a more sinister turn in the Tim Burtonesque way.

My only gripe is the not touching thing...that's going to come back and bite them in the ass.

That was weird. That was the brightest dark episode of a show I've seen in a long time.

Random thoughts:

-The whole Dandy Lion car business was completely weird and strange, especially with the whole exhibit for the Asian businesspeople. WEIRD.
-Was the voiceover of the Dandy Lion promotional video Anna Friel with her natural accent?
-Olive's whole musical number was random, but Kristin Chenoweth has a great voice, so who cares?
-VM alum sighting! Once I saw clean-shaven Principal Landry, I knew he probably had something to do with it.
-I thought Janeane did it on the basis of her reaction to his death and the whole behavior at The Pie Hole.
-Lee Pace makes me weak in the knees. I want a Ned in my life.
-Can't wait to see the aunts again next week. I missed them so much.

I was really worried that the visual look of the second episode wouldn't match the one of the pilot, but aside from the lack of the amazing yellow-field-turquoise-sky shots it stayed pretty much the same. What I also found really remarkable was the amount of shots used, lots of second unit close-ups, flashbacks, fantasy sequences, commercials... until I remembered that this was the episode Warner or ABC or both freaked out over because Sonnenfeld took so freaking long to shoot it (and probably running over the budget as well). I think they actually forcibly removed him from the director's chair, which will make this probably the last PD episode he's going to direct for some time.

I guess, next week's Sonnenfeld-free episode will truly be the one to prove if they can keep the show on this kind of detailed visual level. I hope so, because it's seriously one of the things I love most about it.

The other thing I found remarkable was that I found myself smiling throughout the whole thing. Such a happy little show.

I guess my unpopular opinion of the evening is that they could have shortened Kristin C's song though. I know she can sing and the shot from above of her dancing around the dog was beautiful, especially the colors, but it dragged the pace down to a near standstill. I would have preferred to see the aunts or even more of the car plot instead. Talking about the car plot... the procedural part of the episode reminded me of the Andy Barker, PI, possibly because the two shows are actually somewhat similar in both content and looks.

And yes, whatever sizing blunder the costume department made when they went out and bought bras was nearly erased from my mind by those fantastic dandelion hats. Where can I get one?

Well if worse comes to worse, we can now all engage in a concerted campaign to flood the ABC offices with various pieces of knitwear. And ++ on the sheer amount of really awesome cleavage in tonight's ep; especially outside the morgue where Emerson is in the front seat with Ned and Chuck is peering in through the window.

The singing bit came a little too early in the series for my tastes but the way they did it was incredibly amusing.

And I want some money cozies, preferably complete with money inside.

This is one of the most *entertaining shows on TV. For me, it also warrants a repeat viewing...the dialogue is fast and furious, I don't think I caught all of the wittisims. This one was much more Addams Family-ish.

That was a fantastic hour of television.

Mrs Chenoweth certainly is well endowed. I never noticed those before.

Emerson rocks my face off.

I held my breath a little when Ned jumped in the pit after Chuck. What if he had accidentally landed on her?

I am this show's bitch.

What an eccentric, quirky, magically delicious show. What an awesome alias, The Pie Maker. And his nemesis, The Car Maker. Heh.

Loved the knitting, Chi McBride is great in this. Also found Miguel and his moves hilarious. Hope to see more of him.

Anna Friel and Kristin Chenoweth are so distracting. Especially Anna Friel's cleavage.
