Hey, I've just noticed a lot of talk in several character/couple threads about Mark and Callie both as friends or maybe more, so I thought they could use a thread of their own.

I personally see a lot of potential for them romantically, but it's something that would have to be eased into; Callie would more than likely be tending to the fresh wounds of her failed marriage and Mark is well, Mark. But I can honestly see her breaking him down and having him want to become this better guy for her. She's a family kind of woman, and family is something he doesn't have, but craves.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents at 7:30 am after not sleeping, but hopefully you guys have some opinions and predictions to add!

Hey,

First of all, sorry for my bad English. I'm from Austria, well,.....
I would love to see Callie and Mark together. In the Austrian TV Callie and Georg are still married, but I always thought that their relationship wouldn't last very long.
Georg is to conservative for her. Mark would fit much better, because they are both sexy and really hot (especially Mark)!

I could see Mark and Callie towards the end of the season romantically, but I could see them as friends now. Mainly, I wouldn't want to see them hook up too quickly since I just don't want to see Mark hurt as the rebound guy. Right now, I can honestly say between Mark and George, Mark is completely the better man.

First of all, love the name of this thread. "Dirt, Sexy Hotness" So true ... so so true ;)

Okay, I could definitely 'ship Callie and Mark as long as they take it slow - build somewhat of a friendship first and let Callie get over this situation with George. Last thing this show needs is ANOTHER quickie, rebound relationship. Callie is the girl that won't take Mark's crap - friendly or otherwise - and I just think, all around, it would be a fun relationship to see.

And besides, they both pretty much have no one right now. And I really like what Mark said to Callie. And if anyone understands what adultery can do to a person, it's him.

I was thinking we should have a Mark and Callie thread...cause let's face it one way or another we'll get some form of a relationship with them. Which I welcome all the way.

I agree it would need to be a slow build up if it goes anything in terms of romantic, would LOVE for Mark just to be a friend right now to her through all of this George stuff. He seemed concerned for her last week, and I could see them hanging out at Joe's. So something with them towards the end of the season, or maybe Shonda and Co leaving it as a cliffhanger with where they stand would be good. Callie needs time after this George and Izzie stuff, plus if they happen to go the route of a baby involved...that changes a lot of things.

I have to say Mark and Callie's scene last week was my favorite scene the whole night.

Agreed. And not to read into everything too much because who knows, ad libs happen, but as she was frantically searching for the baby, the way he called her Callie and not Torres stuck out for me, like just to see her upset he wasn't thinking professional, that's when he could tell that SHE wasn't ok.

I think that it was also interesting how she was so determined to act be looking for this baby, to suppress the reality of why she was upset, she's turned around facing away from him, and then as soon as he says "You're not okay" she just freezes, turns, and is able to open up. I'm not saying it's any sort of "love-y" thing, but that I don't know that that would have happened with just anyone.

That all said, I was rewatching some Season 3 last night, including "Oh, The Guilt" and not gonna lie, despite her hair being a little off, they look pretty darn good in bed together. Just putting it out there. LOL

Yep that stuck out at me as well, that he called her Callie vs. Dr. Torres seeing as others were around. That, and that he knew something was wrong and said something about it. I loved their whole talk in S3 about family, seemed real, like he took what she said to heart. She's really the only one he has that hasn't treated him like an ass at SGH up to this season. Meredith always gave him shit on his manwhore ways, and Derek flat out avoided him and Addison did what she did to him. No one really talked to him other than Callie. So it's good, and I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

With the scene between Mark and Callie, I just wonder what's going through Mark's head there out of sheer curiosity. In my mind, Addison may have thought that Derek was having an affair way back when before she realized he was all work and maybe he saw a little bit of that in Callie.

Just a thought.

Mark respects Callie as a surgeon, and as a person, and I do agree that he probably does not want to see her go through what Addison went through, hence the advice to talk to George. Mark is an honest guy, and he is not going to respect that George and Izzie have been carrying on behind Callie's back. It may make him look like a hypocrite (since he is likely King of the Dirty Mistresses at SGH), but I think he has learned a little from the mistakes he made with Addison, and he is not going to let Gizzie off the hook without them experiencing a little karmic payback for how they have affected Callie with their actions.

I loved that he called her Callie, too.

I think if we've seen nothing else with Sloan it's that he's pretty observant. And so is Callie. I could definitely get on board with a pairing between these two. I think, if the writers would give Callie her spine back, she could be the one that could make Mark settle down. Because he will witness her fall apart over George and see how much it hurts someone to be cheated on. I think, through Callie, Mark could really understand what he did to Derek and why it's so hard for Derek to be friends with him again.

And Mark seems like the type who would be drawn to someone who was hurting and since he has to see that Callie is absolutely a friendless wonder (just like he is), I could see him taking it upon himself to look out for her.

I'd much prefer a friendship at the start and then something gradual, but I'd love to see it either way because I think they both deserve it and it would definitely be dirty, sexy hot. :)

(Go Mallie)

MUCH better than O'Malley... I've gotta say that the scene between the two of them was probably my favorite in the episode. I thought that it showed how much Mark has grown - while he may always be a Manwhore, there's more to him. I do agree that they need to cultivate a friendship first, and that scene really laid out the groundwork for that. (Oh, if only Shonda listened!)

It is better than O'Malley someone on the TV.com board came up with it. Even though, Mallie should be come friends first, I think that they are going to sleep with each other (making Callie feel better about herself). Than they will be on the road to becoming friends and hopefully more.

Mallie is much lovelier than Cark, which I've seen on a few boards. Cark makes me think of carp for some reason. LOL :)

I wonder if Mark will be one of the ones to 'humiliate' George. T.R. Knight and now Chyler Leigh have commented on George's humiliation ... I'd love to see that happen. ;)

Mallie ... it's too cute!

I have a feeling that they are going to be friends ... first, at least. I know there have been spoilers out that say they're casting a mid-30's girl next door type for one of the hot docs - my guess is Mark, only because if Crush is making an appearance than that leaves Alex out. George has his hands full (though, apparently he's the stud so anything is possible), and Der is wrapped up in Mer.

So that could rule out a Mallie romance. For the time being, anyway. But who says they can't have a dirty-hot one nighter like before? Callie's gonna need a pick-me-up!

Anything for Mark to take his shirt off .... hahaha.

LOL Cark! It just sounds gross.

I think I'd prefer Mark and Callie to stay only friends, but I have always loved their scenes together.

As much I'm all for shirtless Mark Sloan, I would really hate to see Callie in that position. She's probably going to be really vulnerable and so IMO Mallie friendship trumps shirtless McSteamy, at least in that scenario.

See this is where for once I hope Shonda doesn't go that route. I think Mark just being there as a friend is much better in this situation. I think Mark is sleeping with the nurses because I don't think he's looking to settle down quite yet, I think there could be a lingering for Addison (maybe as well it keeps him open of crossover to help ratings) so he's not moving to quick. Guess they wont have him settle in with anyone till that other show is okay ;) So just as he said to Derek he's having adventures. LOL Plus the cast for the 30yr female, and based on sides for Lauren, it's most likely for Mark. So whether is becomes anything or just a flirting moment for now, not sure how Callie would mix in here if they have sex.

I really don't want to see a one night with these two. If it were a one-nighter with Alex I would be okay with but Mark....right now the door is open for some really good, stand-by me scenes and sex...well it's not time yet IMO. Although this is Shonda and Grey's and we saw what S3 was so she'll probably let them throw down after a stop at Joe's again. Sigh...I just want a normal friendship on this show, everybody doesn't have to have sex all the time!

The thing with the way that the season is shaping up so far, Alex and Callie are pretty much out of the question - because i dunno, he's not feelin' her, and seems way more interested in Mini Mer.

As for Mark and Callie, I think it's still too soon to tell, although it's definately working out in the world of fanfiction and SaRa herself said in an interview that she thinks that Mark and Callie would be a good match.

Someone was telling me today that Rebecca Gayheart (Eric Dane's wife) is also a fan of Mark and Callie. I haven't found confirmation online, but she supposedly said that she thinks Callie could "tame the manwhore".

One thing is certain ... they'd be hot doing whatever. :)

I am so glad I am not the only person shipping Mark and Callie!!

I would like to see them start as friends-both missing Addison, both being totally dissed by the ones that they love-and have it develop into something more. I totally think these two would make the best pair at SGH. He's all hot and dirty and a good surgeon, she's a dirty, sexy hot girl who is also a good surgeon...they would be king and queen of Seattle Grace.

Plus, I would like to see Mark giving Gizzie a hard time. I mean, seriously. I think he should extend IzzMe a personal invite to the Dirty Mistresses Club. As for George, I think a little humiliation will go a long way.

I just think that the slow brewing of Mark and Callie would be really sweet compared to all the bitterness thus far for both characters. And they really have chemistry together. It's not forced or anything and I like that. But it's also not so 'in your face', which makes for an interesting developmental storyline, I think. I wouldn't mind waiting a while for these two to get together if it's going to take its time to be this amazing thing, because it has the potential to be.

I am all for Mark and Callie being friends. Since Addison had left she really needs someone to confide in and I think Mark fits the bill. Since last season they have already been there and done that, Here is hoping that they become great friends before they visit that wonderful place again. I would hate for it to be a rebound hook up again.

I love Mark and Callie together as friends, I really do. But nothing more. I think I fell in love with them back in the ep when they discussed him being a dad. She knows him, not just from her own experiences with him, but I bet Ads told her a thing or two and I think she cuts him some slack regardless. She has a knack of being able to see him as being just as vulnerable as she is despite the ballsy exterior. They have a lot in common in many ways, despite being very dissimilar in many others. I couldn't stand Callie when she first showed up, mainly because I can't stand that sad sack of a douchebag that she fell so madly in love with *barf*. But the more I see of her in settings that don't involve her pathetic prick of a husband, the more I like her.

I totally bought a ticket on the love train for Mallie. I think these two have great chemistry and I really want to see them get closer. I agree with those who think that they should take it slow though, as both of them have been burned by people they loved. They do need the friendship for now, and besides, a friendship would be the best foundation for a long term relationship for them. That and I think it would be nice to see a "curvy" woman actually get the hottie in TVland for once.

Plus the cast for the 30yr female, and based on sides for Lauren, it's most likely for Mark. So whether is becomes anything or just a flirting moment for now, not sure how Callie would mix in here if they have sex.

Well, I'm not sure if this is spoilerish anymore as I think we know who this is now - Dr. Hahn. And quite frankly....They cannot hook her up with Mark. Seriously. I think her and Richard could tango, but she's gotta leave mark alone. I think Shondaco may be laying the foundation for Mallie getting together, but I hope it isn't in some revenge sex scenario. Though I could see them trying to regurgitate the MerDer dynamic with them being "sexy friends" that turns into something more...
