In the one large cast photo, the Jenny character is wearing these Steve Madden flats that are natural canvas with navy polka dots and tassles. I own those in red, paid $10 for them at TJ Maxx. Kinda fitting, since Jenny would be the bargain shopper of the cast.

BTW I think that Taylor Momsen should be wearing fake boobs in the show (and I put this on the fashion thread because I say they count as accessories).

Fake boobs?
No way. She's perfect. She's supposed to be 14!

But in the book, her very big ones are a big part of her character.

Right. The actress should be wearing fake boobs to more closely resemble the character, who had very real, very large, very ubiquitous breasts which accounted for 90% of her personality.

On the other hand, if you take those away, you get a whole new character to play with. I like boobless Jenny.

I have a feeling that Jenny being flat-chested in the show might start to bother me, though... mainly because I'm so used to her with huge boobs in the books. It's like, a huge part of her character in the books and you hear about it quite often. It's a big part of most of her storylines, too.

Yeah, Jenny and her Uniboob. It's such a major part of her character -- it's the reason why she's so insecure throughout the series.

EXACTLY!

I mean, not only can she not afford the couture that her classmates can, but every outfit is a struggle to camoflage her chest. She'd be just another cute, very petite girl if it weren't for the boobs - the are a lot of her personality.

See half of me feels sympathy for those who read the books and are gnashing the teeth over the differences from the TV adaption but the other half is sorta "what didja expect". I never read the books, have no intention to but for whatever reason, I only want the show to mimick the book in the most basic/hazy way like character names, general premise, certain attitudes, etc. The show is gonna be it's *own* show and tear apart from the books mythology even more drastically than it has now. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I like boobless Jenny.

I love the fashion in this show. Especially Serena. But what is with Chuck's scarf love? Because I'm not really feeling it.

I'll offer up that I love boys in scarfs. They're preppy and bohemian at the same time. But I certainly don't love Chuck. His poor scarf must've felt so degraded.

Hallelujah, in the books Chuck is known for his wacky fashion choices. Someone help me remember, though, did he have a crazy scarf that he wore all the time?

No, but he did have a monkey! I wonder if he'll have a monkey in the show, too?

I love all the stuff Blair is wearing, but I REALLY loved Serena's gold sequined dress she wore to the concert. I have been seeing them everywhere, and now I really, really want to go buy one. And does anyone else remember that being on the cover of one of the books? Because I do.. it was a dress pretty much like that, in that exact color. However, she wore the dress with pants, and I probably would just wear it as a dress because I think it's cuter like that.

I don't remember that dress, but wasn't Blair's dress that she tried on but her mom nixed from one of the covers too?

Okay, I was actually wrong, it was just a shirt, but here is the cover of the book. I was REALLY off.. I can't believe I thought it was a dress, haha.

ETA: PepSinger, you beat me to it! Thanks!

Here is the gold sequin dress Serena wore, or at least something extremely similar. Ridiculously priced however.

I saw some at Bebe the other day, for less than $100. They had them in silver, too, but I think that gold might look better on me. And they had different styles of the dress, too. So maybe I'll get one from there...

I thought the long, silvery jacket that Serena wore on the steps on The Met was totally fab!

Serena's dress was by Tory Burch. According to The NY Daily News, the CW will be offering some of the clothes featured in each episode for sale online via its' website.

I thought Blair's mom stole the fashion show for me. Does anybody think it's intentional that she is a socialite fashion designer that wears a "uniform" of sorts (white oxford with pearls)? Seems very Diane von Furstenberg to me.

Yes, Blair's mother was the fashion high-point!

But she reminds me more of Carolina Herrera — a classic socialite UES designer, who usually wears white oxford shirts with red lipstick. She has a beautiful dark haired daughter, Carolina Jr, who serves as her muse and best advertisement. Sound right?

amybworth, I thought about her too!

If this series becomes a hit I wonder what von F and Herrera will think of the similarities? I tend to think they are NOT going to be amused, much like Anna Wintour and the old Devil Wears Prada fiasco.

LOVED Serena's gold sequin top and the black/white trench coat. The thing is, the clothes make her look 25 instead of 17 or whatever.

I love boys in scarves too (but not Chuck's, ew), and in vests (Dan's was very cute)!

Rufus' leather choker thing needs to die, die, die.

I have a feeling I'm going to love drooling over the fashion on this show. Yes, the fashion on The OC was cool, but New York is more fashion sensitive than laid back Cali. Give me teen/young-adult versions of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy!!

Is Rufus' leather choker supposed to be a callback to the Ryan Atwood choker/man cuff of old?

I was completely in love with Serena's leather jacket, the one she wore on the train etc. in the opening scene. Does anyone have ANY idea where I could find one? I swear I've been searching for a good brown leather jacket for years; I can never find one just right.
