WELCOME! Hey, this is Jacob/Bayliss, saying hi. Address any questions, comments, or suggestions here, please, so the threads can stay on topic. Also, check out the Site FAQ and Show FAQ (coming soon).

BOOK SPOILERS Will be treated like regular spoilers. If your speculation is based on either the books or conventional spoiler sources, it goes in the SPOILED column.

TOPIC! Don't say "Topic!" or "To get back on topic..." or anything like that. Just stay on topic. (What you're saying when you do that is, "I know the rules, I just don't care.")

THE SHOW, NOT THE BOARDS Talk about the show, not your fellow posters. If somebody feels like stepping up and defending Chuck, that doesn't mean they're a jerk. It means they have a different opinion. This board would be stupid and boring if everybody agreed about everything, and bullying people who don't agree with you is a guaranteed trip to Bantown.

THIS IS NOT THE MOCK UN By the same token, not everything deserves a dogpile response. If somebody says Blair is fat, the next twenty people don't need to jump in and disagree. There's no need for any appeals to majority or consensus here, because it's really stupid. Talk about the show, not what "everybody" thinks, or how "everybody" is wrong, how you're "probably in the minority" or "going to get creamed for saying this" or anything of that sort. The show.

NOBODY BELONGS HERE MORE THAN YOU Your opinions are interesting and valid just as they are. They don't need to be propped up with cruddy rhetorical tricks or aggressive rudeness. We don't have to agree with you, and we don't have to fight you. We don't need to win the internet. We just want to hear what you think.

Could we have a thread to discuss NYC referencing locations we see in the show itself since it's such a major part of the book/show?

Heck yes, that's a great idea. I'm really counting on you guys to help me with the three things I know nothing about: NYC, fashion and music. I don't see why my complete ignorance in those areas should be a problem, as long as you guys dutifully note and explain everything that happens on the show in small words for me.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for the rule that book spoilers are going to be treated like regular spoilers since I haven't read any of the books and don't want that swaying my thoughts!

I was curious to see if there could be a note to keep The OC references to a minimum in the individual episode threads. I never watched the show, don't know anything about its creator (other than what he's done with GG), and think it isn't relevant to the GG plot even if there are glaring similarities. It's really distracting is all, especially when I just want to read what people think about GG, not The OC. Just a thought!

I feel you, but that's not workable -- given the staffing, humor, plotlines and general teen-soap focus, the comparisons are inevitable.

The CW's Gossip Girl Revealed special is airing tomorrow night, and there are supposed to be cast interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and deleted scenes from several episodes. I figure some of us will want to discuss this stuff (especially the deleted scenes), and I was wondering where that discussion ought to go? All of the extra stuff is going to be squashed in with a rerun of the Pilot, so should it go in the Pilot thread? Or should it go in the Gossip Girl Media thread? Or does it deserve a new thread?

I was actually thinking it would be kind of fun to have a rewatching thread for the entire series of Monday night reruns. I know we have the individual episode threads, but I thought it might be neat to have a thread geared towards discussion of the older episodes in the context of the entire series (so far) and speculation about future episodes based on the events in the older ones. I also think that having a thread specifically for the reruns might generate more interest and activity, since there's not a whole lot going on around here what with the strike. So, you know, whatever.

But I'm mostly just concerned with where discussion of the Gossip Girl Revealed stuff ought to go.

ETA: Never mind! The press release was a little misleading about the amount of deleted scenes, and they were all from the Pilot. And everything else in the special could easily be discussed in the Pilot episode thread.

Sure. I'm hoping to get a Whimsy subforum in here before the back nine, and that'll be a good reminder.

Jacob, will you still be recapping? I only ask because I think you have a lot on your plate right now. This is my favorite show you recap, so I hope so.

Mars said no talking about promos in the spoiler threads unless they relate to actual spoilers and they should go in the speculation thread or a promo/preview thread. So my question is, is it possible to start a promo/preview thread?

There's been a lot of discussion on the boards about Season 1 versus Season 2 so I was wondering if we could start a thread to discuss the entire series to date?

I was just wondering...it seems like every episode discussion lately seems to break down into a huge discussion of Blair and Serena, sometimes going all the way back to Season 1 stuff and not always connected to the episode. Since so much of it seems to focus on the Blair and Serena relationship (and oftentimes Blair vs. Serena) should we have a Blair and Serena thread? Or just stick to discussing them in the episodes/individual character threads?

I like the idea of a Blair and Serena thread. As I see it, their often difficult relationship is at the heart of the show.

That's fine with me. You can basically start most threads without asking, if they're typical threads you'd see elsewhere on the site.

In the character subforum, of course.

I just asked the same thing in the character subforum. I'd love to see a thread for a lot of the ships, as well, since it seems like a lot of discussion in episode/spoiler threads turns into talk on various relationships. Also, some actor threads, where we can discuss the actors without having to post in their character's thread.

I'll start a few if someone else wants to jump in and do a few others.

It's earlier than I expected, but Ausiello dropped two spoilers in his new column, so it might be time to reopen the spoiler discussion thread?

During the summer, Ausiello tends to call stuff "spoilers" when it is just general media stuff. Keeping it locked until there are legitimate bombs being dropped. That stuff can be discussed in the media thread.

Yes, I'll open it now. But do make sure you post about spoilers there and that mainstream media/casting stuff goes in the Media thread. Thanks.

Could we have two spoiler threads like the Glee forum, one where it's just spoilers, and one with discussion? I like to see the links and hear what is going to happen, but it's hard to find in all the discussion, which in my mind gets seriously off-topic from time to time. Just wanted to see how people felt about that before doing it.
