With HBO reportedly getting ready to pull the plug, feel free to share your cancellation-related thoughts here.
- That sucks. There is no way this will be wrapped up satisfactorily in two more shows. We'll be left hanging.
- Well at least we got to see one season of this. I was enthralled by it.
- "The audience is listening..." ?? bullshit. The audience is stupid and impatient.
- Is there anything we can do to change their minds? Any websites organizing a protest?

Seriously, this show drives me buggy, yet I can't stop watching, so I thank HBO for putting me and the show out of our misery.

I wonder what this means for the Deadwood movies.

I also don't think that cancelling JFC will bring back "Deadwood." That show had a whole slew of its own problems, including a third season that made no freaking sense. With or without the movies, the third season will never have the coherence it was intended to have. If the rumor's true, I'm not all that surprised -- the DW mess created a situation where JFC never had a fighting chance.

Seems like the biggest ghost that JFC had to contend with wasn't the one in Room 24 but the ones in the Gem Saloon.
...or, dare I say, at the Bada-Bing. I would guess that the last thing most Sopranos fans (myself included) were planning to do immediately after the finale was to try out a new series. I taped (yes, I'm a dinosaur) the first 2 JFC episodes, and watched them right before the airing of the 3rd--it took me that long to be ready. Though I'm pleased as punch to see familiar "names" on this forum, I know that many others who might have appreciated this quirky show moved on in other directions.
The timing was not the best. :(

So ... feel free to talk in this thread about the possibility of cancellation, and an announcement when/if there is one. But I don't think it's certain.

I can't find any news stories confirming this
Thanks for checking it out, TWoP Mars. If this show is cancelled, it may be the last nail in my HBO coffin. I'm with kq338 - I just can't get enough of JFC.

I loved the third season of "Deadwood", and I don't think I'm alone. The only season I had a problem with was the first, when the show was still finding its voice.
Anyways, I really like JFC, and if those HBO cocksuckers cancel it before giving it a fair shake, I'll be pissed. It's just getting good!

There was a Deadwood S3 repeat marathon a few weeks after the finale, but there's nothing on HBO's schedule in August or Sept after the week of the JFC finale.

I really hope the end is not near. I have watched this show almost every day, once a day, since ep1. It's like a puzzle you can't put down.
I'm with you. I've been as entertained by JFC as much as anything I've seen on TV. To me it's been a triumph of execution over concept. I remember reading the synopsis for the show before it began, and I sneered and thought, "utterly lame." But then I read a review of it by one of my favorite entertainment writers and he said that it was a must see. (He also loves Flight of the Conchords. I do too.) So I tuned in. The very first scene had me hooked. The casting, the acting, the dialogue and the location have been more than enough to make the basic concept work for me. It's been said before, but JFC reminds me of something that a slightly less insane David Lynch might come up with, and I have always loved some of Lynch''s work. JFC has the same mysterious, dreamy quality of a self-contained universe that is a lot of fun to be immersed in. It reminds me of Blue Velvet in that respect and like Blue Velvet, it mixes humor into a serious and sometimes frightening story. I like thinking about JFC when I'm not watching it and at work there are a couple of other people who watch it and we are constantly cracking each other up by using JFC dialogue.
It depends on how they wrap it up, but I'll buy the DVD and it will be one of my favorite movies.

Enough of the Deadwood prophets declaring the end of JFC...you don't know anything, nor does your imaginary friend, aunt, uncle, brother-in-law, or parrot at HBO, and it is painfully obvious to all.
Wordy McWord Word WORD, Morticuy! Motives are blinkered in invisible messages from invisible sources.
I don't know Butchie instead.

So, you're saying I should deny myself telepathic information from my imaginary parrot to spare you irritation?

According to Yahoo TV, JFC is averaging "4.5 million viewer cumulatively," which ain't bad at all. Though I did wonder if that was 4.5 distinct viewers or 1.2 million watching every episode 4 times (which also wouldn't surprise me!).
As regards me pertaining to any alledged cancellation, I'm keeping a levitating thought until I hear otherwise from forces greater than some "mytube or whatever" character--portal capacity not withstanding. This show might be a tricky sell, but it is in HBO's interest to hold on as long as it's making some dough in relationship to production costs. I'd be curious to know what the reaction has been around the globe, or for pre-sales to other countries. I bet JFC would do great in Australia and Ireland and countries where the TV is more challenging and where they are used to giving proven talents money and keeping the interference level down. Like Linc says--"better the Devil you know." Developing, scripting, filming and promoting a FRESH series is more tricky than nurturing a show with a strong (if still growing) fan base, which JFC does have.

Thank you! I thought I was the lone voice in the wilderness who was dissatisfied with season three of DW and decidedly not mourning it.
I would hate for JFC to not have a chance at another season. I have mixed feelings about it, but I think it deserves more time.

In talking about the possibility of the Deadwood movies ever happening the response was;
........Another factor that will play a part in resuming production in "Deadwood" will be the fate of Milch's new series, "John From Cincinnati," which Plepler spoke supportively of but stopped short of a renewal announcement.
ETA: I linked to this from a blurb on AICN that was talking about JFC being canceled.
