Thea!? I know the rules say they don't have to be complete amatuers, they can be experienced, but for crying out loud the woman had her own series! There has got to be a line drawn somewhere people, and I'd say that line would be..... cannot have had their own sitcom. Named after themselves. Who's gonna be on next week, fricken Roseanne?

The Aussies were really good. No problems with who they chose but I'm really, really bummed they didn't take Claire Hooper. She'd probably be in my top 3 or 4 of the first two weeks. Oh well.

New York bunch, again was solid. I was going to say the same thing about Thea. She's funny but a little surprised to see her competing. She's a pretty known quantity. Thought Sean Rouse was great. Liked Lizzy Cooperman, would have liked to have seen her move on.

Like that the judges are pretty much letting anyone slide through even if only one of the judges digs them because obviously some of their minds have been changed when they get in front of an audience.

Dude, I totally had that same reaction. I was like, "Thea? Thea Vidale? Didn't she have her own tv show???" What the hell is she doing on LCS? And, on top of that, she was on one of those damned wrestling shows playing Shelton Benjamin's "mother."

Did we even see her set? I swear, I don't remember seeing her minute or two at all. Besides, the woman from Maryland was funny and I think she was robbed (robbed, I say!).

Sue Costello had more than one TV series on before appearing on Season 2, and never really suceeded with that. Thea is well known to some people, but it took me a while to place where I knew her from. I don't have a problem with it because it wasn't a gigantic smash hit. If a Jerry Seinfeld or Fran Drescher showed up, I'd be the first to pass out the brooms and scream Shenanigans. But for this, not so much.

Also, why are so many mom comics doing the I hate my kids/I beat my kids routine? Are they just trying to edge out the moms who are still doing "My kids wear me out"? I felt like I was watching a snuff version of Grace Under Fire. Grace Opens Fire?. Hardy-har-har, but seriously...women with kids should start building acts that aren't about the difficulties of parenting.

A few of the guys were OK. So far, there's only a couple of funny women. Nutz to that!

I, uh, am really ashamed to ask this, but does anybody know the punchline to the last joke? "What's the best time to go to the dentist?" I got the first two right away, but this one stumps me. The only thing I can come up with is "closing time."

I liked the Aussies that went through. Again with only three slots for the international stage. They definately should have invited a couple more.

Wow. I couldn't name anyone who made it through from L.A., but I'm totally on board for Last Comic Standing: Australia. This is my second season watching the show, and I can't remember ever enjoying that many comics from one audition city. Sucks that they only took four.

did not like did not like that Mooney guy from Australia. Dated, redundant put-upon whiteman lame humour. Yuck. All the other Australian comics were funnier and fresher. He is definately your typical ocker. Undoubtably Ant's favorite. The woman from Alice Springs also felt dated and boring - if a little risque. Cool woman from England. Original and funny.

What's the deal with all the established comics shown in next week's previews? Are they holding special auditions for Comics Who Need A Career Break?

So far I'm enjoying the auditions, especially the addition of the Ozzies. Unfortunately I fear Bill Bellamy will be back soon. It remains to be seen if he's any better than the weirdo from last season.

Right now, I'm just exhaling after the LA auditions, since no reality alumni famewhores applied. After "Theo Von" last season, I was dreading a relapse. If somebody who had a one-and-done sitcom applies and that's the worst of it, then I'm happy.

Damn...I can't remember the jokes. I'll need the weecap to remind me, so I can laugh all over again.

8 p.m. Eastern was a one-hour recap of last week's show. 9 p.m. was the new episode with L.A. and Australia auditions.

The Aussies rocked. I even liked Mooney -- is he the one who talked about the phobias? -- and the bad mother/wife. I wish they'd all gone through. Are the comics funnier this year overall or is it my new meds? Seems like they should go to Europe, Africa, etc. if this is really a worldwide competition, but I'm just thrilled to actually enjoy LCS this year.

I don't remember his name, but the guy with the "Jesus undercover" joke - did he tell any others? It was that one joke at the audition, then the same joke with an act-out at the callbacks. I sincerely hope there's more to him than that, but in that case why edit to show the same bit both times?

Regarding Thea, I guess that's going to keep being an issue as long as the show runs. But I still have no problem with it. What do we gain by keeping it to amatuers, because we lose polish and depth of material. I would love it if Cedric the Entertainer, George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr, and a bunch of other successful comedians were to compete. That would be the best show ever since we know it would be funny. But it will never ever happen, so why not settle for second best by taking whoever is willing?

I hardly chuckled until they got to Australia. Liked Gina Yashere, the African-Brit woman. Good energy, original POV and decent material. My favorite was Fiona O'Loughlin, doing the bit about having five kids but being commited, until they get one they like. I know it's totally different but she kind of reminds of Dangerfield in her outlook, not her approach. Maybe not. She was incredibly pro.

I know 'real comedians' look down on all prop comedy, but that guy with the signs, Michael Williams, I kinda wish he'd gotten through, made me laugh. The rest of the crop, including the ones that got through-not so much.

See, I liked him ALOT. In fact, I thought the Australians were funnier as a whole than any other group. Claire was okay, but there were so many good ones, that it had to be hard choosing. I was happy with the ones they picked. I really loved Gina from England. "But honey, he's Chinese now." ROFL!

I absolutely loved Fiona O'Loughlin, but then I tend to girl-crush any middle-aged Australian woman I see or meet (I think I want the accent). I seriously thought she was hilarious. There's also a lot of Claire Hooper stuff that rotates through after the video. I loved both of them, as well as Gina Yashere. Didn't really have an issue with the homophobia guy (and there's a sentence I never thought I'd say), but I couldn't really stand the Homeless Jesus guy. Would have been so much happier had he been left behind in favor of that bloke with the drawings. That had me rolling, but I could understand why he wouldn't have been the most appropriate choice.

Was that Tig Notaro in a split-second clip standing with the group on stage in Los Angeles? I could have sworn I saw her peek in there, but there was no stand-up from her.

One thing I'll say for this show-they do a lot better with pacing these early episodes than American Idol. They've got the sense to mix enough promising performances in with the idiots that it doesn't become boring.

Total word to this. I get really uncomfortable with any routines (are you listening, Sinbad? George Lopez?) whose theme is basically, "people should hit their kids more." I know good comedy pushes our comfort limits, but there are just too many people who hear that stuff and think, "yeah! Right on!" and I think it feeds into a widespread confusion of abuse with discipline. Not saying it's not funny, you understand--just that it's not funny to me.

I think it was a goiter and it was VERY distracting (not to channel Elaine Benes or anything). I was thinking she doesn't need to go to the next round, she needs to go to a doctor!

I’m in the camp that doesn’t think Thea should have been auditioning. I know we’ve seen comics who are kind of “known” in previous seasons, but I always thought this show was going to be pretty much about finding the best untapped comic talents. Maybe I just thought that in my head. There was a guy the showed on next weeks shoe that I know I’ve seen a number of times on TV before.

But then we'd have to eliminate Ralph Harris & possibly Sabrina Matthews. I could care less about Ralph, but Sabrina is GREAT! I love her specials on CC and LOGO. In fact I'm pegging her to make it to the finals.

Was this the blonde chick with a head scarf? I was listening, but not watching (since my head was buried in knitting. ... I can't knit without staring at what I'm doing), but my mom called and was all, "That girl has thyroid problems! Look!". So anyway, my mom's theory is "Thyroid Problems."
