I agree that Mary grates sometimes but I agree even more with the knowing her stuff part. She seems to give legitimate, useful feedback (when she's not screaming).

I like some of her comments. I want to hate the scream (but I really don't). I actually love how emotional she is (most of the time).
I am amazed by how many feathers she can wear at one time and still think that she's dressed in street (non-dancing) clothing.
I spend more time wondering why she DOESN'T say stuff than I do thinking about what she says.
In summary, she's pretty fascinating. I'm glad she's on. And yes, Hyper Critical, I really hope Brian makes it back to sit with her again!

I enjoy Mary, for the most part. I'm looking forward to watching her swigging from her cup of secret brown jidging juice and driving Nigel crazy.

At the same time, that voice. That laugh. That scream.
Hyper Critical, why isn't she choreographing this year? Did I miss the memo, or is my memory leaving me from a year ago?
ETA: Grammar is first taught in the first grade, yet I must have missed that first lesson.

BTW, LOVE the thread title, too! It makes her sound a cavewoman - barbaric, LIKE HER HUMOUR.
*sigh* how cathartic!

In defense of puns, I think ANY joke would have a hard time picking itself back off the floor after Mary's delivery of it.
That said, I still like and am fascinated by Mary. And I certainly understand mileage varies about puns. :(

Like Musa and Natalie's Disco routine to Donna Summer's Hot Stuff, she screeched "The song says looking for some hot stuff and I think we found it! WOOO!!!" or to Benji and Donyelle's Hip Hop 'Too Much Booty In Da Pants' (I think) "There was a whole lotta booty shakin' going on and it was all shakin' in the right direction!"
Yeah, that kind of humour is just completely lost on me, but I'm guessing a lotta people would feel differently...*waits for the stones to come, but doesn't mind cause it'll be a swifter, less painful death than death by Mary Murphy Humour*
On a more POSITIVE note: I liked her choreography on Travis and Heidi's Paso Doble "Plaze of Execution". Loved how they started with Heidi upside down, so dramatic :)

hee hee ...
I've liked Mary's paso choreography. Just looked up in Wikipedia: she also did Jaymz/Jessica's foxtrot, Ben/Ashlee's jive, and the Footloose group number. I don't remember anything remarkable about those.

I agree she relies way too much on the title of the song to cue her judging remarks. It ceased to be witty in the first Season.
Did they really need to make her a permanent judge? As if she wasn't already hogging more and more airtime that could be graced instead by Brian and Mia. But I saw it going in that direction throughout Season 2, so alas, I'm not surprised.

Isn't Brian working on a project in London?
I've always known Mary's guffawing was a cover for a hard edge, but I was still disappointed in her comments to EJ Sierra, saying she was "horrified" because he rolled around on the floor and touched his face. "Horrified"? People have done that on the show before, more than once. Was she horrified because of his weight? Or because he was probably gay? She certainly seemed repulsed from the start of his routine. She really brought a nastiness to the judging and although I know this isn't new (she made some very negative comments to Donyelle at the end of last season which were edited out of the final performance episode), but I'm still very demoralized.

Her cackling and screaming are possibly even more annoying this year than before. I value her ballroom judgments, but not much else.

I like her, but when I first started watching last year, before they introduced her, I thought she was Marie Osmond.
I also get a Marie Osmond vibe from her. A "Marie Osmond on speed or crack" vibe to be more specific.

p.s. Can't fault the woman for the screaming and laughing though. I'm pretty much a screamer and a laugher myself.

Didn't she look pretty last night? She was workin' it with the red lipstick.
All I could notice last night is that her hair was OUT. OF. CONTROL. I was really big even for her.
